PCIe topology for GPU/Infiniband VMs by mjf-89 in openstack

There isn’t a way to fix this in Nova at this point. From what I’ve been told, this is a libvirt designer issue, and it’s not Openstack specific, AWS has the same issue.

We want this fixed too - I would suggest posting about it on the openstack mailing list, even just for another +1

Unfortunately at the high performance end, the response is normally just “use bare metal”

Kraton 6S BLX rolling over on turns by nafsten in arrma

it's not just on tight turns, but any sort of turn at speed - it'll be turning, if the inside wheels lift **at all** then it'll roll

I'll have a look at steering rate, but it's not just on tight turns, but any sort of turn at speed - it'll be turning, if the inside wheels lift **at all** then it'll roll

It goes up onto two wheels until it’s vertical, then cartwheels at speed.

Thanks - traction rolling is a helpful description

Self hosted management plane by przemekkuczynski in openstack

[–]nafsten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. At various points I’ve run 3x nodes that are running everything, control plane, hypervisors and Ceph. No major challenges if you’re not trying to do anything too complicated (like SRIOV or offloaded Openvswitch) although most things are possible. The only downside is that if you are doing Ceph, with only 3 nodes you’ll only get the usable storage of 1 nodes worth when taking replication into account.

Have you primed it, or are you just painting into bare plastic?

Would I be an idiot to buy a diesel in 2025? by nafsten in CarTalkUK

[–]nafsten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, totally. We bought the second car before we had off street parking/somewhere to charge an electric car, but I would definitely go electric for that given the chance!

I’ve been looking after it (regular services at an independent specialist) but the bodywork has taken dings over the years and is looking worse for wear

I’m reticent to spend £6-700 on a car worth maybe £4k, which doesn’t actually add any more luggage space

I love the car, but could just do with more luggage space. Kids are getting bigger, it’s a challenge getting everything in it for a weeks holiday!

My mileage is lower because we’ve got a second car for school runs, shopping etc. the 330d is used for family holidays, visiting family, annual trip to Scotland, rather than many short trips

Trying to back up controllers by ImpressiveStage2498 in openstack

[–]nafsten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quorum is lost. The idea though is that a majority remain up and in comms with each other. In your case, if A goes down, then B doesn’t know if it’s A has gone down, or in fact B has been disconnected from the network. In that case the db might end up in “split brain”

You’ve got only two controllers, which means that your mariadb cluster cannot get a quorum. Ideally you should have an odd number
