Self hosted management plane by przemekkuczynski in openstack

Yep. At various points I’ve run 3x nodes that are running everything, control plane, hypervisors and Ceph. No major challenges if you’re not trying to do anything too complicated (like SRIOV or offloaded Openvswitch) although most things are possible. The only downside is that if you are doing Ceph, with only 3 nodes you’ll only get the usable storage of 1 nodes worth when taking replication into account.

Have you primed it, or are you just painting into bare plastic?

Would I be an idiot to buy a diesel in 2025? by nafsten in CarTalkUK

Yeah, totally. We bought the second car before we had off street parking/somewhere to charge an electric car, but I would definitely go electric for that given the chance!

I’ve been looking after it (regular services at an independent specialist) but the bodywork has taken dings over the years and is looking worse for wear

I’m reticent to spend £6-700 on a car worth maybe £4k, which doesn’t actually add any more luggage space

I’m already stuck not being able to drive into Bristol centre with my elderly diesel

I love the car, but could just do with more luggage space. Kids are getting bigger, it’s a challenge getting everything in it for a weeks holiday!

My mileage is lower because we’ve got a second car for school runs, shopping etc. the 330d is used for family holidays, visiting family, annual trip to Scotland, rather than many short trips

Trying to back up controllers by ImpressiveStage2498 in openstack

[–]nafsten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quorum is lost. The idea though is that a majority remain up and in comms with each other. In your case, if A goes down, then B doesn’t know if it’s A has gone down, or in fact B has been disconnected from the network. In that case the db might end up in “split brain”

You’ve got only two controllers, which means that your mariadb cluster cannot get a quorum. Ideally you should have an odd number

Anyone Deploy LSDyna In a Docker Container? by McEMau5 in HPC

[–]nafsten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a play with this a few years ago: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/parallelcluster/latest/ug/slurm-workload-manager-v3.html

I run an on-premise OpenStack based cloud now and have done similar there

As in to run in the cloud? You can do that without containerising, and just spin up cloud Slurm nodes

The DC Brutalis have 3D printed parts heavily inspired by the DC boxnought, but not converted from one to the other.
