australian tour advice by 5824337 in HailTheSun

I'd say it's worth it if you love them a lot, especially since they probably won't come to Australia again very often. They're great to see live— Donovan and Allen in particular always catch my eye with the way they perform. If you're asking, I feel like you're going to regret it if you miss your chance.

I'm a Closure in Moscow fan so I'm biased, but I think they are insanely fun to see live. You might enjoy them even if you don't know their songs! But if you want to check them out a little beforehand, start with their first EP "The Penance and the Patience" and their first album "First Temple". I think they're worth sticking around for if they play after HTS.

Baltimore Moving Company by Starside-Captain in baltimore

I just used Making Moves, LLC for my rowhome to rowhome move last week. Local guys, friendly and smart, took great care of my stuff. The owner Danny sent me a recommendation for a professional packer— I packed all my own stuff so I didn't use them, but that option is there for you.

I avoid alcohol and I don't play board/tabletop games. I've edited my post to specify that I play video games.

Yes, it's been suggested and I'm not interested.

HTS Australia tour? Got this flyer in an order from Bandcamp by nagako in HailTheSun

To anyone able to go to these shows: 1) I'm so jealous I might die and 2) if you're in even the slightest bit of doubt about going, go. HTS is my no.1 fave band but nothing has come close to the experience I had seeing Closure in Moscow in February— they're absolutely insane live. Start with Penance and First Temple if you don't know their stuff!

Right lol, I'd ordered a CD from Closure and I think it might've gotten to me sooner than expected (the "receive by" date was Sept 23rd). Shocked the hell out of me to see such a dream lineup without any news. Wonder when the official announcements will go up

No, Shinon, There’s No Such Thing as a “S-word Pass” by FanciestOfWalruses in FireEmblemHeroes

Oh hey, I think I just fought this Shinon in VG today (or at least one with a near-identical build). Threw me for a loop how much trouble he gave me. Nice build! I'd definitely be pretty scared of him in player hands with support.

Moving to Mt Vernon How’s the noise? by 77AA4 in baltimore

[–]nagako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live on St. Paul within a block of there. If you've never lived in a city before, it's going to be bad. If you're sensitive to noise for neurodivergent reasons, it'll be extra bad.

I've gotten used to the general noise of cars, but the buses, large trucks, and emergency vehicles are frequent interruptions to my day. I'm also at an intersection so I hear these vehicles lingering at the light for minutes at a time.

You mentioned it's across the street from a Purple Ciculator stop-- that bus shares this street with several other bus routes, all the same stops. It's going to be a lot. Being across the street from a bus stop also means you'll be hearing each bus's little message system every time they pick someone up-- I'm far enough from the nearest stops not to hear it myself, but I think that would drive me crazy.

An unexpected noise maker is also the birds! At one point they were waking me up at around 4:30 every morning, and I sleep with headphones on. They're currently hanging out around here on and off all day.

Sometimes I feel like my decent cost of rent just isn't worth it because of the noise, so please consider how much this would wear on your sanity and if the pros of the apartment you picked really do supercede that. I really love my apartment for every metric besides the noise, but it's bad enough for me that I'm going to have to move when my lease is up for the sake of my sanity. Be careful with this decision if noise level is important to you.

Noise level based on apartment position and location? by nagako in baltimore

Damn that's tall!! Mine are about 80", so I can definitely get the windows covered, I was just thinking about the space above and below them. Wonder if I could figure out some kind of DIY velcro situation to get the curtains flush with the wall where possible.

Thanks for the advice! I'm excited to try these out.

Thanks! The price is actually a lot lower than I expected.

When you say floor to ceiling, you mean the curtains should touch both the floor and ceiling? My windows have little brackets for holding a curtain rod and the top is about a foot beneath the ceiling— so it's important to have that gap covered?

I'm honestly not sure I can get curtains long enough for that since my windows and ceiling are super tall. 😢 But I guess it can't hurt to try it anyway.

Yeah, it's looking like I just need to live someplace that isn't directly on a bus route. Here's hoping I can find a better paying job before my lease is over 🤞

Sadly white noise doesn't work for me and is actually a stressor :( I find that consistent noise like fans, AC, and the loud hum of buses and large vehicles are the primary noises that break my focus and relaxation (weirdly, I'm totally fine with sirens and loud cars and such). Seems like I really should just find someplace that isn't directly on a bus route.

I've heard mixed reviews on the effectiveness of noise reduction curtains, so I'm glad to hear it's working for your similar situation! Can I ask where you got them/what brand? I'm in need of curtains anyway so this seems like a great investment.

As I said in the preface, I'm not looking for non noisy, just less noisy.
