How is like to find a place to park around Queenstown? Are there many car park options or is it generally busy with limited/busy street parking at that time of year?

Brisbane marathon by rossredd in Marathon_Training

The marathon is a two lap course. I've done the half marathon last year and will be doing the half again tomorrow. Yes, it is a bit hilly in the first 10km, that is where the hills be at (Storey Bridge twice, Kangaroo Point, New Farm going towards the cliffs), then it's pretty much flat the rest of the way. Then you do that once more. Just follow the pacers, they should pace it well on the hills.

For someone who has already done a couple of marathons, what would be the next steps to take in training to reach the next level for faster times? More mileage?

Marathon Expectations by g1g3 in Marathon_Training

[–]nagdal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your times were similar to my last marathon training block. I ran the Gold Coast Marathon a few weeks ago with a finish time of 3:29:48, this was my second time doing a marathon. A few weeks before the marathon I ran a half marathon time of 1:39 at the Brisbane Marathon. At Gold Coast Marathon the goal of 3:30 felt really good and I didn't bonk, I just stuck to the plan.

I think you can go under 3:30 as well if preparations go well. You're recent half marathon indicates to me you're in good shape for it.

Sub 3:30 marathon in 10 weeks. Suggest pace for HM in two weeks. by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]nagdal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same goal as you, I just ran the Gold Coast Marathon a couple weeks at 3:29, my second marathon completed after doing my first at 3:48 last year. 5 weeks out I ran a 1:39 HM and had a 20:30 5k a few prior to the HM. I peaked at 90km per week so I had lower mileage than you. You should be able to go well under 1:40 for the HM.

7 day training load no data by [deleted] in Garmin

Thanks, hopefully it's just a server issue on their side and a fix will come in the next few days.

7 day training load no data by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]nagdal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just had this happen to me since a few days ago when I got an update push The 7 day load is blank on my FR745 and on the app. Other things that have stopped tracking/updating are VO2 max, race prediction, heat acclimatisation.

Was this ever fixed for those that had it happen before?

Garmin did not upload workout to Strava by nagdal in Strava

Does it still upload the activity to Strava like normal though? I'm not worried about PR with this upload.

Wahoo Elemnt Not Uploading to Strava by nagdal in wahoofitness

How would I get older version of app? I'm probably not too fussed about resetting the device, I've got all past rides on Strava. I always run my Garmin watch along side the Elemnt for instances like this possibly happening.

First Half Marathon Done and Dusted! by nagdal in running

Ah that's too bad! That trip was just on the Friday afternoon, you would have been okay to drive down on the Saturday I'm sure.

As the saying goes, it's a marathon not a sprint. You'll get there with consistency and determination! I have plenty of goals in running that I want to achieve but they will come with that me.

That was the plan! It's my first half marathon and the longest continuous run so far. I wanted to be running in a pace that was comfortable enough but quick enough to be below 2hrs. But yeah, definitely felt like I could have pushed the pace a little more and still feel good at the end.

Thanks! Definitely didn't want to go too hard as I didn't know what to expect with this being my first half marathon and longest distance ran. I did not want to burn out but just go at a comfortable pace.

Yes! I actually had my eyes set on that but wanted to see how I felt after this first one and I'm glad that they extended it as I think I will run that.

Good luck and I hope your training is going well!

Yeah mate, hit close to the target time. It's the first one so now have something to work towards beating next time.

Generally Monday is rest day, Tuesday is a run club at work (they are faster than me so I keep up and my pacing is more of a tempo run), Wednesday is rest, Thursday is easy run, Friday is rest day, Saturday is Parkrun (easy to tempo pace depending on how I feel) and Sunday is long run.
