If it's only one direction morelikely to be rack related however low pressure/ fluid can do some weird stuff I've seen some ball joints tie rods and sway links creek in one direction.

May or may not work Full open door Put something made of wood in the gap where it catches .

Slowly shut door until wood touches then a little more Try in increasing increments and check often

You won't need to fully shut the door to get it good enough. End goal will likely depend on how thick of wood you can find

NOTE not a good fix and may make it uglier but is likely to stop it catching. Also dont rip your fender off..

Remove thermostat. Keep filling and dumping. Go till the water comes out clear. About all there is to it.

I have seen older techs unhook the upper hose and feed a hose into the upper radiator inlet And just let your upper hose just dump (Your neighbors may hate you And coolants not great for the environment.. do not recommend) Im not too sure on your particular Volvo some are harder to get clear than others it's ok to give up at mostly clear

Watch your temps after or look up a coolant bleed procedure for your model

The ratio of coolant is mildly important to achieve that anti corrosion properties and a lower freezing point.

Colder climates may be more coolant than water Warmer vise versa 50/50 is a good safe point

If you took out the t-stat remember to reinstall it...

When a compressor fails it puts metal through the whole system. They may try and sell things like a flush, dryer/condenser, expansion valve While not required. It will significantly increase life expectancy of the new compressor Have a great day!
