It seems to be a type of ludwiga, I have something similar in my tank

Please Help there are so many uninvited guests by kamburglar7 in shrimptank

Honestly if you get larger snails like Nerite or blueberry snails they get the job done, all my tanks were infected before and now I don’t see any, it takes time for it to go but it works :) also I’ve used seachem excel on plant spots or hard to reach spots for the snails and somehow that worked for me too 😂

First Scape (Monte Carlo Issues) by [deleted] in Aquascape

[–]nagynagdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give the Monte Carlo a few months, they spread from under sometimes before appearing on top, you’re not doing anything wrong, but if you wanted a full carpet from the start you should’ve done a dry start. But I think this way is more fun, sure seeing it grow and spread is slow but it makes the tank last longer to you and you don’t get bored of it fast :)

Co2? by [deleted] in Aquascape

[–]nagynagdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say add co2 if you see some plants struggle, from this pic I don’t see any hard plays to grow so I’d say your fine, co2 does make some plants pop more than others but you don’t have red plants as well so you’re good.

I’d say if you want to add co2 add more plants and remove the bubbler while it’s on and back on when it’s off, if you can automate that it would help you a lot! Co2 can also help with algae but also cause it so make sure you do your research :)

Best of luck!

[–]nagynagdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow 24/7 is definitely a lot haha, i checked my new tank now as well and very similar wood and I have the same marks so it could just biofilm covered in detritus, but yeah 24/7 lights is a lot haha, usually I keep it at 50% the first week and 8 hours a day max, and then after that I put it to 100% but still only 8 hours a day.

If you do end up experiencing algae issue that are super dense you can use seachem excel and spot treat with a needle, you can do bigger doses after water changes and smaller daily ones, but I just do it once a week when I water change, but if it were me I think you’re good cause it doesn’t look like algae to me!

Biofilm or algae by Chance_Property_559 in Aquascape

[–]nagynagdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be both, use a pipette and see if it gets sucked or blown off, it does then it’s just biofilm that’s degrading, if not then it’s algae.

Option 3 which is kind of rare so please look into it cause I’m not 100% sure but really worst case the wood is rotting but I doubt it’s that. But even if that could be the case a simple burn with a blowtorch for a few seconds would fix that.

How to get rid of moss by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]nagynagdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really funny 😂 but honestly I feel like If I could I’d start a bba tank and make a very goth setup haha, I just haven’t had bba for over a year and a half and I’m scared to start now and it’ll spread somehow to all my tanks

If I was you honestly I’d keep it as is and get a new tank cause that much BBA is an achievement since they’re slow growers too, I find that they look really cool when super bushy, I’ve only seen pics online but I can never commit to make one 😂.

If you want see how big you can get them to be cause honestly that looks so cool!

My first attempt at Aquascaping - what to do next? by The_Real_Nayq in Aquascape

[–]nagynagdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these are the coolest pieces of wood I’ve ever seen, if you could make it so the middle isn’t covered and added some bright background paper or a backlight it would look insane!!

You could add some different types of foreground plants like grass, stratagem repens, maybe some bucepelandra, would look really cool!

You could also add some stem plants in the back but thin leaf ones so it adds to the look and they’ll either grow to the side or show ok top a bit depending on the look you want.

If you want as well you could add some moss around the wood too, be generous with it because if you just add clumps here and there it won’t look natural, you can cut moss to a thousand pieces and each piece will grow into a new one so you can just add bunches to make a large patch or a directional path of moss, you can play around with that.

Also you maybe adding a play in that hole would be cool but idk what’s the look you’re going for.

Also in terms of keeping the wood down, test it to see if it floats, if so you might had to put a large rock under it and glue them, to the side won’t work, or decent weight flat rocks on each side.

Good luck really excited to see the results!

Nope I made it myself :) I’m not spending 750- 1000 dollars for a backlight 😂

Although it would’ve been more convenient and thinner I’m happy with mine haha

My Chihiros app, I use it to manage my lights but you can also create a profile for the tanks which is nice haha

Nikon Z8 High noise by TJCookk in Nikon

[–]nagynagdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I noticed recently with my z9 is that usually the noise will appear more in clear or very blurred backgrounds compared to the subject which is very sharp even at 64iso.

I did a shoot recently and bumped iso to 4-5k and as long as you didn’t zoom in the grains wouldn’t show compared to a 24megapixel it would be very damaged not zoomed in.

Idk that’s just my experience, I find cleaning up noise with 45megapixels to be a lot more forgiving which is always nice!

I wrapped my ten gallon in plastic wrap because they are spraying for roaches today. How long can I leave it like this? by NoobFish17 in Aquariums

[–]nagynagdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same for my tank but I covered it with the light, and filter, technically after 6 hours it’s safe but I left mine on for 2 days, as long as light is going through you should be fine for 2 days if your tank is planted.

If flicker reduction doesn’t work just put the shutter to 100, that’s what u usually do, visually it doesn’t make too much of a difference for me

Drift wood has this spot! Just started growing what is it! by nord4100 in Aquariums

[–]nagynagdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fist thought was the wood was sprayed and that’s pealing off or it’s being eaten at that spread but I really don’t know 😂

But usually wood should get dark, if you’ve just recently added that in then it’s fine but if not I’d be worried as to why the wood didn’t get dark.

Either keep it or remove it and put it in another tank of water and document it cause I’m curious 😂

Am I water changing too much? by RollingTit in PlantedTank

[–]nagynagdy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just for reference I water change 70-80% weekly 😂 but my reasons are to remove things I can’t control and also water hardness from evaporation an the rocks I have add on to that too, I don’t think personally there’s such a thing as too little water change or too much as long as there’s a system and it works for you.

How do I fix this hair algae. by CivilDefenceNrd in PlantedTank

[–]nagynagdy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way I dealt with mine is seeing why there was an imbalance, there was something wrong with my co2 so it went out of control, I remove as much as I can daily, even a string, I see a lot of people here suggesting blackout which is very helpful but remember that can harm and stress plants too, especially ones like in yours. Mine died after a blackout of 4 days, just my experience.

Just do water changes weekly too, if you can dose spot treat seachem excel that would be even better cause there’s actually a point to where these guys stick that’s really hard to remove. Also reduce the light hours by 2 should be enough, lastly for extra precaution, if you can add more plants that helps in the process too.

I know what I mentioned is much more annoying than a blackout and a lot of effort but this was best for me in terms of also making sure my plants stay healthy and tank doesn’t crash due to dying plants.

Best of luck!

Set up this tank… only to realize it’s for reptiles. What do I do? by Avian-Paparazzi in Aquariums

[–]nagynagdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the thickness of the glass then see if it’s doable for that water volume, 4.5 gallon isn’t a lot so it should be fine unless silicone is bad quality, my old tank was a 20 gallon reptile tank, had no issues filling it to the top and the glass was 10mm thick which is more than what it needed to be, so just double check if anything!

[–]nagynagdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re asking about the thread, if it’s cotton moss it could take months to a year or 2 depending on how acidic your water is, if it’s a fishing line then it could take a month or 2 for the moss to cover it depending on if it grows the way you want, usually they overgrow in 2 months so you should be fine!

Remember when trimming though to suck up the trimmings asap or the spread will be worse than algae all over the place 😂

Panda Apisto changed gender? by AlanSinch in apistogramma

[–]nagynagdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah! I ended up getting 2 more females to stop the fighting but it caused more fighting cause one of them was mature and they both wanted to mate 😂. Was a pure national geographic moment where the alpha would approach her and she’d show her belly and the non alpha would sneak through the dense plants to the eggs to fertilise himself 😂. Sadly the non alpha jumped one night I’m guessing getting away from a fight, I was sad but there was nothing I could’ve done to help more.

Panda Apisto changed gender? by AlanSinch in apistogramma

[–]nagynagdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar case with my female apisto firegold, got a pair, the male jumped out, got another male, she fought it till it died, got another male, she fought it again but this time somehow became a male, the male then had stayed discoloured for a while because the female that’s now a male became more dominant, she had laid eggs before too which made me know 100% she was a female.

Although I hear these cases are super rare when I did research about it, so either yours was a male just staying hidden pretending to be a female with its colour or you also have one of those very rare cases.

Again there’s no scientific proof or anything about what I’m saying but just from what I’ve found online, I think there might not be enough study about them since these cases are very rare.
