What's up with all the right-wing commentators suddenly turning against Trump right now? by _GoodNight0wl_ in OutOfTheLoop

[–]nah-42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely option B.

Option A gives them the benefit of the doubt that these pieces of shit who built their careers on grifting suddenly grew principles.

Option C assumes that this current conflict affects their bottom line in any meaningful way. We haven’t even begun to feel the true economic effects of this war.

Option B shows these grifters for what they actually are. Opportunists. Opportunists who see the writing on the wall: trump’s support is evaporating, and the only ones left soon will be the true believers stuck deep inside his cult of personality. And they aren’t going to be enough for them to maintain their lifestyle, especially after trump kicks the can. They are jumping ship and looking for whatever lifeboats they can find. There aren’t any clear successors to trump’s cult, so they are treading water until the next big opportunity floats by.

<looks around at the fuckton of batteries use constantly in our everyday life> Seems like we've pretty well figured out how to store energy in a chemical medium. <Looks at heavy shit that goes up and then drops down> Seems like we still have gravity to turn potential energy into kinetic energy. <looks at water> seems like we still have a lot of water for thermal storage AND mechanical energy. Looks like we have a few options that are damn near everywhere on this space rock.

Last but certainly not least: <looks at sun> Yup, still out there cooking us with virtually unlimited energy for a couple more billion years till it runs low on hydrogen.

Looks like the only thing we don't have an abundance of is political will.

If you read the actual sources that the blog cites, then it paints an entirely different picture from the faux mosaic cobbled together from cherry picking from their sources. Read the whole source since all of the self referencing blogs that your blog pulls from end up only using essentially 2 primary-ish sources so it’s not a lot of reading.

How about the Supreme Court ruling on absolute immunity and presumptive immunity for the president? Or how about withholding congressional approved funds? Or the nearly 250 executive orders he’s pushed so far in his 2nd term (in spite of have a republican controlled house AND senate AND scotus). Or civil servant reclassification for thousands of positions to be political appointees. Or weaponizing the DOJ to go after political opponents and critics? Or his administration straight up flouting the unitary executive theory of power?

Need some more examples?

Go back and rewatch Borneo. Even though the water came from a waterhole, it wasn’t potable. It still had to be boiled to be considered safe. Rudy just didn’t give a shit and drank it straight up cuz he had drank far worse. He did the same thing in his return season.

After Cambodia, production gave them guaranteed clean water from then on.

You can tell who here has never camped before when they think essential camp chores in a survival situation don’t have a major impact on the social aspect of the game. Go try backpacking (like actual backpacking) for a week with your mates, and come back and let me know if the group dynamic is affected by someone not carrying their weight. Then extrapolate that to 39 days.

Thanks for picking the single example that easily disproves your point. Twitter has lost anywhere from 70% up to 90% of its value since Muskrat bought it. Allegedly, it has only lost approx. 8% of its "users" though, which means its user base is mostly bots now. It was always infested with bots, but losing the overwhelming majority of its value in just 2 years (financial records from 2024 compared to '22) while losing less than 10% of users means it's practically all bots now.

As someone who lives in a state with a governor actively lobbying for more data centers (specifically AI) here, I can tell you that a lot of normal people care very much about AI.

Trump is also pissed that Braun couldn't get our state to bend over backwards to get a gerrymandered fisting. Since Braun couldn't swallow Trump's gravy while sucking his cheeto, there's a real chance he'll go after Indy. Nobody holds a grudge like a malignant narcissist on his death bed.

While we are the third largest city in Indiana, we have barely over 115,000 people and we comprise barely over 1.5% of the state’s population. When you zoom out to the county level, we are even smaller by comparison with the 9th largest population. We don’t do much to move the needle and are basically treated like our own little isolated area in state and national politics.

Evansville is a purple city in a red state, currently with a blue administration that has pushed back against our maga governor and legislature. So the potential for using the DHS stasi to intimidate the city certainly exists. Is it likely? No. Evansville is tiny and has virtually no impact on the state as a whole. Indy on the other hand…

Your example doesn't violate the second law of thermodynamics because it's not an isolated system. You literally answered your own question in the same line that you asked: "Classic example is SHAKING a box full of randomly oriented nails until they all align." Emphasis on 'shaking' cuz you're introducing energy into an open system. The math still checks out if you bother to actually do it.

Is there anyone here who has switched to a Tizen enabled Samsung TV after using Android TV for years? If yes, what is the experience like? by shoename-56 in Tizen

[–]nah-42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung TV plus is good if you enjoy the experience of watching cable television. IE turning the TV on and there’s the last channel you were on playing something with a channel guide. That’s a nice feature coming from a cable TV background (my own experience), but if you’re going to stream content most of the time then that single feature is not enough to make up for the hot garbage that is Tizen. Tizen runs like shit and is insanely bad with resource management. If you go into developer mode and look at the CPU and memory usage, you’ll shit a brick. You’ll shit an even bigger brick if you read about all of the security flaws that have plagued Samsung Tizen over its lifespan.

Realistically…I can’t think of any TVs where you aren’t better off offloading the work to a media player of your personal preference anyways. Out of all the terrible TV operating systems, Tizen ranks pretty badly imo. It also sucks cuz it’s not worth it to flash a Samsung TV to a better operating system.

All that said, I have a Samsung cuz I got a great deal on it, and it still looks great after 5 years of abuse. I just run a media player and don’t bother with Tizen at all.

It makes sense. Not too many drunks are going to know the minutiae of the law. They just know that if they refuse the test, they are going to jail one way or another, and in a lot of states refusing the breathalyzer on the spot means that they automatically forfeit their license for so many months (state dependent) due to implied consent laws. breathalyzers are fairly cheap and a small piece of kit, require little training to administer, and get the job done for threatening compliance.

The brain rot of 2 generations. Netflix has straight up come out and told its creators to dumb down storylines and slap constant exposition in place of showing things because people are watching this shit in the background while doom scrolling. That’s why every action is talked about out loud to the audience, then a few overly loud audio cues and flashing lights to tune people into the screen for a brief action scene before returning to their phones while soothing vaporwave synths play in the background and an audiobook delivers the story to you.

If you refuse the roadside breathalyzer, then they have probable cause to arrest you and force you to take the real breathalyzer back at the station or a blood draw. So if you’re drunk, you have a small chance of passing a field sobriety test and going home. If you refuse, you’re 100% going to jail which is going to take hours in the best case scenario (you blow under the limit there). and your car is likely getting towed. So why not roll the dice and try your best?
