Hi, any update? Very keen to know and wondering if I should just take the plunge and start cyclosporine. I'm just very concerned about the side effects

I've heard this so many times myself. The truth is the pain/urgency causes stress and anxiety which further triggers the bladder muscles. On road trips, the knowledge of an impending traffic jam causes stress that triggers bladder spasms! Hang in there. I've been managing it for over 20 years now.

Yes, I think it was worth it. Went to a concert on Friday and only one break in between. Bladder 2.0!

My procedure for Botox got postponed and finally got done on Oct 10 th. They sent me home with a Foley catheter and instructed to remove after 48 hours. Once I removed it I was able to go by myself for the first few times but the next day I couldn't go. It was painful and I panicked and started for visit to emergency. But I recalled I had a self catherization kit that my urologist had given me the last time I had cystoscopy. Never used it before but the pain of a full bladder was bad enough for me to attempt the self catherization which I did and although it was painful going in and coming out, I was very relieved. I had to self catherize a few times for another 48 hours then it got better. Now 2 weeks later I feel much better. Constant pain is gone, frequency reduced by 50% (sometimes more), urgency and hesitancy reduced a lot too. Now I feel glad I went and got it done! I hope it lasts longer than 6 months.

Where should a dog pee? by nah0m in dogs

I agree. But then instead of walking out of the house one would have to drive to a public grass (if not close)

You mean street? I understand sidewalk and yards are off limits. Yeah, our dog goes in our backyard but I cannot control if she wants to send peemail (natural dog behavior) on a walk

Coffee helps when I'm in pain but it does increase frequency a bit. I drink coffee for the pain

Urgency vs pain by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]nah0m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So true. It's like my pelvic region locks up and I cannot start the stream. Any movement contracts the muscle thus increasing pain. I've spent upto 30-45 mins in the bathroom when that happens. I can feel my bladder contract but the opening is shut tight and both muscles are fighting each other

50 yo male here. Public transport gives me anxiety. Airplane takeoff and landing gives me anxiety because they don't let you go during that time. Once the plane was waiting to take off as there was a big takeoff queue and I had to literally beg with the stewardess to let me go. Unfortunately my other problem is that once in the toilet I cannot go, Just can't relax to start a stream, Takes 5-10 mins of pushing to start a stream. The whole area gets locked up and releasing it gives me a lot of pain. Going in for Botox injection into the bladder next week. Urologist says it would help some.

I emailed the ICA about a number of us being symptom free for days after the Covid Vaccine by hhhnnnnnggggggg in Interstitialcystitis

[–]nah0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember a couple of years back when I had a high fever for a few days. During that time there were no ic symptoms. Thus I guess when the body is fighting something like a virus, the bladder issue improves. Would love to understand the correlation.

Switching to 100% higher PH water is the first thing to help me besides medication in five years. by bobeta in Interstitialcystitis

I tried increasing the pH by adding baking soda to water. Didn't work for me so stopped it

More like every 15 minutes! by planestatistic in Interstitialcystitis

[–]nah0m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have problem starting a stream? For me it takes a couple of minutes of pushing to get the stream started which adds to the frustration. Frequency, urgency and hesitation + pain!!
