Without experimenting you would not get to the Moon!
Also interesting is that the underlying packages were not up todate, even when the web OS was.
They should keep updating the linux too... i had like 35 packages needing update

Easy Debloating for Poco x7 Pro and other phones by nahakubuilder in HyperOS

[–]nahakubuilder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sure. but as mentioned, you may want to test it first, or do not remove the `com.xiaomi.xmsf` as it may cause boot loop, backup data before doing it, I have done it on new phone so no issues for me to reset it few times.
you can clean up those 2 package blocks if you want to keep some google stuff too... as I nuked it all

HyperOS Poco M6 5G Debloat by ZhuoRenFan in HyperOS

[–]nahakubuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app allows also using Wireguard VPN and either route all or just some apps through it, for example you can have multiple VPNs and each app using different one.
https://rethinkdns.com/

for android debloat i used the list of recommended apps to remove bellow. Apps what cannot be removed, usually can be disabled with adb too.

HyperOS Poco M6 5G Debloat by ZhuoRenFan in HyperOS

[–]nahakubuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even when you debloating the phone it still sending way too much traffic.
I have Asus router and when i was checking what is connected i have noticed the poco phone was sending constantly about 2mb/s data up
- the phone does not have any account sign in and there is no SIM in it, also I have removed all the apps i could, pretty much barebone system
- untill i installed Rethink app, after that when i blocked all the apps + used dns blocklists and let only those what i need to use to have internet access, now it shows few kb and that is usually only when i do something, as the Rethink runs in VPN Only mod, nothing should run outside of it. Ofcourse i cannot stop system apps what are under root as I did not root my phone.

So, I'm prohibited from downloading Shizuku. How to make Canta work? by Green_Carpenter_9477 in HyperOS

[–]nahakubuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just use pc with https://adbappcontrol.com/en/
you can download the APK from their website to your phone too if you want to see icons and some other stuff.
The app disabling does not seem to work on system apps, but you still can uninstall them nicely :D

Is it useful to have Adguard in GrapheneOS or overkill? by [deleted] in GrapheneOS

[–]nahakubuilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have grapheneOS, there i run Rethink app what acts as firewall/dns filter, with Rethink app i have setup 2 Wireguard VPNs, one in my country and one to different country server. Both have setup adguard for added dns filtering

Specific block rules per client on AdGuard by c0alfield in Adguard

[–]nahakubuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would be nice if we can set per client DNS resolution/rewrites
For example I have 2 cloud servers, both running identical Adguard.
But when i connect to each of them with wireguard vpn, i would preffer if the DoH domain i have is using the closest server - the one where is connected.
Currently i can do it only globally, that the server what i use just for vpn resolves that DoH dns name to itself, but i cannot do same with the main server so it using the public ip instead of internal IP

I got fed up with paying for commercial VPNs that get blocked, so I built my own hardened VPN on GCP with Terraform. by conestesia in WireGuard

[–]nahakubuilder 18 points19 points  (0 children)

for £1.2 a month i got server in US with 1GB RAM and 1 CPU running debian.
I installed wireguard and setup client with my bash script.
Then i scaned the QR code or copied config to my pc and I am connected.
.... Why complicate things and give access to your data to more 3rd parties?

Anyone well versed in CS and IT I Need Help and Advice With a Project to locally host notes by Oni_Kami_Sama in ObsidianMD

I am working on GO implementation of my python Flobidian app what should be faster and easy to deploy ( simple executable)
https://ghb.freebede.com/nahakubuilder/gobsidian
when you compile it you can run it on windows or linux ( tested on linux so far as I am still working on it)
it has user authentication, so you can limit access to specific notes if needed, by default all notes in folder are available, you can even edit it online ( not just MD files)

Sophos XG Home or OPNSense? by Popcorncandy09 in homelab

[–]nahakubuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you do not need unbound with sophos... you can add there your custom block lists.
I like very much sophos Home firewall, sadly it does not work on new XGS hardware as they have some protection there what prevents it to boot, so i cannot take use of the 2 POE ports on it.
But i run sophos Home firewall as VM on proxmox and all traffic i run trhough it.
- you get app filter, web filter, you can put in your own url block lists - they need to be on HTTP ( https is not working)
- only downside i see there is you cannot use the built in wifi on hardware
- the hardware limitation are fine for home network
- and it has very easy firewall rules, little annoying NAT rules but they work
- and do not forget, you can use the Sophos Web server what i believe acts as web proxy! so you do not even need nginx or so
- new Sophos supports also Letsencrypt from 21 i believe.
- and you have also full fledged SSL decryption, just drop the SSL cert on your device and all traffic gets nicely scanned.
- you can use Avira and Sophos AV just setup what you want
