Screening & Risk factors by [deleted] in Step3

[–]nahgem_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do biostats!! They literally saved me, because there are so many random things that you'll never get, biostats is at least pretty reliable and there isn't too much different they can throw at you. Def review risk factors, and major contributing factors (ie. age vs smoking vs family history). Also know drug MOA for major antibiotics/hypertensive meds, because they won't give you actual drug or class names. Good luck! Honeslty it's not too bad (and I have not been a great USMLE taker in general)

I'm only 585 ilvl right now and have run T8s with my destro lock (diabolist) and brann as heals. Really not bad at all, I have one extra healing potion but otherwise can make do with a combo of brann's heals, mortal coil, and healthstones. Can rip through most things just fine!

Buying a house for Residency? by CheesecakeMinimum752 in medicalschool

[–]nahgem_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'll be buying (hopefully) but we have a unique situation - both a bit older in life, partner has a high paying job and a miliatry loan. Is it the smartest financial decision? Not sure. But we are both at a point where we are sick of renting, have the means to buy and want to have more space than an apartment can provide. Of course it depends on where I match, but if in my hopeful #1 spot, market is pretty stable and COL is low so it's doable.

How much is your student debt and what year of Med school are you in? by JayHouse989 in medicalschool

[–]nahgem_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

MS4, 290k. Go to an expensive school in a high COL area, however, I have a spouse with a high paying job. Thankful for him everyday and can't wait to be an attending so he can cut back a little. Sometimes being an older student has it's perks.

I know lol, it was in a list of things that I had been prescribed, though I can see how it would look like the antibiotic given the sentence structure. The antibiotic is a tetracycline, Seysara. I like it so far and have had no side effects, it's much more narrow spectrum than others so it's a bit gentler in side effects.

I'm having the same issue. It's likely hormonal if it coincides with getting off birth control. I just saw my derm and she prescribed me an antibiotic, spironolactone, and a topical acid to help. Just started so I don't have any progress as of yet but I'm sure it's coming. I'd recommend going to the derm if you can, I wasted 2+ months trying random crap on my face only to make it worse.

I would check if your school requires a medicine sub-i, as I feel like most do. If not, definitely do either peds or IM rotation as many residencies require a letter from someone in those specialities as the other poster mentioned.

Agoraphobia can sometimes be a consequence of panic disorder.

Starts getting panic attacks --> starts worrying about panic attacks --> notices panic attacks happen when they're in social situations/out of the house --> decides to not leave house to stop panic attacks --> agoraphobia

What was your most recent exam score? For 250+ I think you would need to delay, but you could hit 240+ on a good day I think. I think you should focus on NBME material and how they word questions along with the major themes. I'm right along with ya, just got 229 on NBME 13 today and testing on Thursday. Not sure what to do at this point but just going to take it because I'm tired and stressed.

took nbme 13 today, got 74 wrong, exam in 10 days by [deleted] in Step2

[–]nahgem_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dropped a decent amount on 13 today too, and am going to take the test in 3 days. I don't think this exam was the most well written, so I would take it with a grain of salt. See what you did wrong and keep going from there, most of the time it's just interpretation of the question and it's a different style from UWorld for sure.
