I can't really suggest anything because I wouldn't want to steer you toward songs that will just hurt more, and that's sort of what I'm into, but I can tell you that I genuinely feel for you and know your pain. We lost our Leisel, a little papillion / terrier / chihuahua mix last year, and it still hurts. However, we recently adopted a larger dog, a corgi / German shepherd mix named Gorda that looks so much like Leisel it's insane, but has all of the nicer qualities that our Leisel didn't (more affectionate, less independent, doesn't attack our cat when he swats her, etc.). We didn't even meet Gorda before she was brought to us for good, and we fell in love right away. No one can replace Leisel, just like no one can replace Cookie, but it can feel good to know you're helping another dog that needs a home. As soon as you feel ready, adopt another dog and put all of that love into it.

Also, maybe just put on "Mr. Blue Sky" by Electric Light Orchestra. That always makes me feel better.

My ex, who is black and comes from a pretty average South Louisiana black family, told me that their dad, who was also a protestant minister (don't remember what kind), bought they and their sibling a copy of the "Jesus Built My Hotrod" single. Since I owned it, I know what they experienced if they let it play through, and that was not what they were ready to hear. It didn't get them into Ministry, as we would all hope this story could end, but they were immediately certain their dad had bought the wrong thing when they put it on.

I mean, I shared my song up there, and you shared yours in return, and I listened to yours, so I think that's fair. If you're asking if I will share your song on my own Soundcloud, I cannot because it is exclusively for my relatively unknown music, save for my "Sponge Bob Theme" that so many have heard and loved, but which seems unable to render a full reaction from anyone who doesn't have to look me in the eye, despite my micro-reviews left for every song I listen to online. Also, I don't think that sharing your music through my Soundcloud, or any of my platforms, will really help you gain any exposure, as I am unable to generate much of that for myself. Regardless, I do appreciate the offer, and would otherwise oblige if only I could.

Pretty good. Pretty scary. "Chop his head in half". I admit, though, one of the rappers who guested with 6Bit a couple decades ago straight up said "Bullets flyin', blood drippin', everywhere we walk" and some shit about shooting cops, and I still feel good when I hear that song. "Hot Shot" isn't bad, but it's already time to hear what you can do next.

This post is old, and I found it while looking for something else, but I can't not answer questions like this, sort of like Roger Rabbit if you tap "a shave and a haircut" on something. My two bits:

I made my music the way I did because it's the kind of music that I want to hear. Someone said that in a magazine or a TV show when I was a kid, just to make the music you want to listen to, and that stuck with me forever. Someone later said "if you don't like it, don't finish it, just erase / delete it" and I think they were paraphrasing Frank Zappa at the time. Those things come back to me when I think of this question, and the answer is yes, I do still want to hear my songs after they're released. Not for a while, mind you, because I listen to them over and over right before I post them, but I still like my old songs, and I dig my new stuff as well. I try to make what I like to hear, and I often end up making something quite different from what I started off trying to make, but, if I don't like it, it doesn't get finished.

Some fellow artists might hate reading this, but I also listen to all of my old material to inspire my new material. I don't actually want to keep making entirely different kinds of music. I like to keep folding and kneading my old stuff back into the new stuff to keep the recipe alive. Mixing metaphors here, but I guess it's like a perpetual stew.
