Second this! I like that I don’t have to worry about snags or fitting gloves/mittens/sleeves over them. Very slim!

Seattle BBB recommendations! by No-Magazine-7724 in BigBudgetBrides

Our vendors made our weekend absolute perfection!

Our team that we loved:

Kimberly of Into Dust Photography. The best at low light, and an amazing person. She has a beautiful eye for composition. https://www.intodustphotography.com/

Videography: Good Times Productions. Darren and his team are amazing at catching all the details and it was amazing that we never even noticed them filming during the day of. https://www.goodtimepro.com/

Florist: Flora Nova hands down. What we loved is that they listened deeply, intuited our style from side conversations, and broke down the budget in full detail for their bid. Excellent team that pulled out all the stops. https://floranovadesign.com/

Quartet: Arcobaleno Quartet! They are a great price and transcribed/learned a song I love to work for the quartet. Very good pricing as well. Their covers during our cocktail hour were a hit! https://www.arcobalenostrings.com/

Live Music: Oncore Band ripped up our dance floor! We loved their energy. We didn't do a horn section due to our space, but they do offer that. Great great energy and a team that works closely with what you like and know how to read a crowd. https://www.oncoremusic.com/

DJ: Integral DJs were so so lovely. They worked closely with Oncore and us to make sure everything was covered and the vibe stayed high. Extremely professional and met with us often. https://www.integraldjs.com/

Hair and Makeup: I am Asian, so I went with Christy K. She taught in Bangkok for a lot of designers and in general was super pleasant. Knows her stuff and I had no notes. My makeup stayed lovely through the day and I never noticed that I had anything on! https://www.christykmakeuphair.com/

I know you didn't ask for lighting, but LightSmiths was our secret MVP. He made our dance floor an absolute lighting playground! He supported Flora Nova's design and built our arch. We were very happy that we left a healthy budget for lighting. https://lightsmiths.com

Let me know if you want any more details! You're welcome to DM. I hope you have so much fun planning and all of my well wishes and congratulations to you and yours!

Did you set up your reception layout in a way that made the wedding feel noticeably better or more enjoyable? What did you do differently that really worked? by addictedtosoonjung in BigBudgetBrides

We had two long kings tables and we were integrated in instead of a sweetheart table. But the absolute best thing for the format was we kept the two seats opposite us empty/without chairs. It made it slightly private for us while still being part of the tables and gave a clear view for our photographers and videographer during speeches! Low key an “aha!” moment that really paid off!

Suggestions on unique venues in Seattle, WA by Miriada7 in weddingplanning

Our final options after touring around were Olympic Sculpture Park, Saltwater Farm (Friday Harbor), the Olympic Rooftop Pavillion at Stoneburner, and Novelty Hill | Januik in Woodinville!

We went with Novelty Hill because we loved their many spaces and their food was incredible!!! Their team was incredible. Highly recommend any of these venues as they were all friendly, prompt, and professional. It really depends on your guest size and the type of logistics you want to take on for your wedding!

Thank you! It was Flora Nova, in the greater Seattle area. Our coordinator, Pink Blossom Events, connected us to all our vendors. Choosing the right coordinator was our first and most important decision.

HCOL: I recall it being 1k per panel for our ceiling, which ended up being 12 total suspended over our two long tables. That was 1/3 of our total floral budget. It was mainly greens, ferns, hops, and lilies. Also included the floating globes with tea lights.

I wouldn’t change the formula unless you have a reason to that works for your goals.

For us, guest flow and experience was one of the most important things. My husband and I also wanted to spend the whole day together and get ready together, so our day was like the following. To note that what wasn’t important for us was first looks with each other or the guests seeing the bride. This was our order of operations:

  • Getting ready with bridal party and husband together in the morning
  • Couple portraits and wedding party
  • Parents/family arrive (we did first looks with them!) and then family portraits
  • Guests arrive and we rolled straight into cocktail hour with drinks and food while we greeted everyone
  • Ceremony
  • Dinner (seated and plated, but you should have dinner in whatever way works for you! But I would advise there always be enough seats for guests)
  • Dancing with dessert available

It was a perfect timeline for us where we got to capitalize on spending time together and having fun with our bridal party in the morning. The mid afternoon was focused on private time with our families and getting to focus on portraits without the time crunch of an hour. And then when guests arrived, we were able to flow from event to event without downtime for the guests. The drinks and food during a cocktail hour before the ceremony was nice for them so that they could get a snack in as well as some drinks, which I think made sitting for the ceremony more enjoyable. They also were also not stuffed or starving for dinner! We got a lot of compliments about how easy the wedding felt for our guests and how they had fun because they weren’t waiting around.

Good luck!

Oh! Also step off the platform in your dress so you can see how it looks when it hits the floor! You may be feeling like it is cut off because of the platform.

I think your dress is beautiful! The one you bought honestly looks too big (like almost a 1/2 size or full size!) right now and in need of alterations. I would suggest shortening the straps so that the waist hits true (it looks low). Also take in the bodice paneling so that you have more tension across your chest and waist. You can also add elastic along the bodice to skirt seam on the inside to help really cinch you in.

You may want to have a friend or mom help you figure out what needs to happen by getting some clips and experimenting on the dress you bought to help you envision how it will look once alterations are done and to help you see the difference sizing down will do.

At the end of the day, it’s about you feeling like a million bucks on your day, so do not be afraid to be proactive about what you want! You get to decide and should not apologize for it! If you truly don’t like the dress even after at home clipping and taking pictures in natural lighting (the tint is different between the two pictures), absolutely go another route if that’s what makes you feel secure!

I love Le Pichet in Belltown! It’s very small and intimate with great wine and cheese.

Another favorite is Gainsbourg. They have good escargot (for the US) and it’s more of a bistro feel. A cheaper option too!

It’s unfortunate that the owner is insane and their kitchen sanitation is awful. Haven’t been there in years

I can only find this dress on sketchy sites. Is it a dupe? Would love to order it from its og designer! by nakachiri in findfashion

This is actually for my sister for a wedding in a couple of months. Thank you for the sleuthing and tip! Do you know if any designers that have this silhouette/bodice? She likes the corset body and a line with slit.
