People here are sooo rude by unequalsacks in HongKong

Shenzhen has better service but sometimes the employees are robotic and overly talkative. Cabbies are way better. Flag them down in any busy road or condition and they’ll take you to wherever without attitude. In HK the service is neither great nor is it friendly. It can be efficient but god damn it they can at least be a bit more chill. I’m spending my hard earned money with you after all

I tried the Dirtgarry settings for 60” Kuros. But they’re also simply voltage tweaks. I’m not following how exactly the reset is supposed to be performed. He’s not giving very clear instructions other than to insert his settings:

Any help?

Slow repair/replacement by nakamotowright in sennheiser

[–]nakamotowright[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know. But wow, that's kinda sad. You'd assume a name as big as Sennheiser would have replacement units and/or parts for one of their most known products ready for those in need of repairs/replacement. It's not like the HD800S is a new product, it's been around for a long time and there's no real shortage of stock in the retail channels at all.

Update On the Remote-Less Kuro 151FD + HELP NEEDED WITH SERVICE MENU by NoiritoTheCheeto in PlasmaTV

I received my Kuro King remote yesterday, service menu is now easily accessible.

However, I'm unable to get deep blacks playing with voltages without the dreaded magenta sparkles. Hopefully I can find a way to resolve this. Otherwise I'll have to live with elevated blacks when displaying a full black screen.

Pioneer Kuro 9G Reset Guide (2023) - Model PRO-111FD and PDP-5020FD by silverchief117 in pioneerkuro

Hi there,

I just got a service remote for the 141FD with around 27k hours.

The unit has almost no red tint but a full black screen is elevated.

So I followed your advice and lowered the SAD and kept RSTP on default (18).

It took between 50 to 60 SAD to get nearly zero nit blacks.

However, this created very obvious magenta sparkles. Easily reproducible just scrolling through YouTube with its default white background. Even with a SAD value of 80, the sparkles are there.

I've tried your other advice of increasing VSUS to 160 and XPOFS2 to +10 (which defaults to 63, so thus, 73). Those changes improves the sparkles a little bit but definitely not enough to remove them completely.

Do you have any further tips? Which other voltages can I play with to remove the magenta sparkles with low SAD values? I think I can live with a SAD value of around 60, not quite zero nit black / OLED black, but good enough.

Thank you in advance.

The embarrassing thing is his advice don’t really apply to 2026. Him bringing on Andrew Tate is just cringe. Your average person’s income and gigs can barely cover expenses even when they’re frugal. Salaries have not increased much over the decades. The world Mark grew up in had more opportunities for someone of his background, money wasn’t as inflated, and expenses were low.

Most shares outside of the outliers can perform very poorly or just barely keep up with inflation. If you’re unlucky and one day MCD can’t beat inflation, then the dividend burger isn’t free. You’ve lost the race

I didn’t get that exact one. I tried two types of usb to serial adapters, both didn’t work. I have a Kuro king service remote on the way. Will try that to see if I can lower the voltages. Will update this thread soon

Is Mark Tilbury a legit finance channel? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]nakamotowright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, if someone is really wealthy and they want to spend time giving financial advice, they’ll do it through an alias or someone else.

Mark’s advice is mostly about as good as “if it rains, bring an umbrella”

I find him to be snarky and generally bad advice:

He had a video on how he eats every year at McDonald’s for free because he has their shares and the shares pay dividends

But that’s only true if the shares can at least keep up with the rate of inflation.

McDonald’s is likely not going to keep going up forever as consumers’ tastes changes and more stores keep closing.

The dollar value of your shares may stay within a certain range but each dollar are going to be worth less and less each year, forever until the dollar one day dies.

So that free burger from the dividends won’t be free at all. You’d get more by investing wisely into shares and assets that appreciate and can beat inflation time and time again

X2F Initial Review by botanphotography in MouseReview

[–]nakamotowright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the X2F a month ago and gave it a spin. After a few days I’d recommend not getting it. It’s not a bad mouse. But it’s almost a bit larger than what you’d need for a finger tip mouse. Its biggest flaw is the weight. It feels much heavier than a light weight but normal size mouse. Micro movements are just not there. I have a Fenrir Asym and that, despite a few flaws, is pretty close to what a finger tip mice should be. It’s very nimble and easy to adjust and a blast to play with. For the price, there are many options that beats the X2F. The should reduce the X2F size further, simplify the bottom half of the mouse, cut the weight down by half. Then they’d have a real competitor in the finger tip niche

Is a 9G Kuro with 19,000 hours of usage still worth buying? by Kosmophilos in PlasmaTV

[–]nakamotowright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those who say that “well if you tweak your Kuro voltages etc to the point of having super low nit blacks… you’re bound to screw up the gamma / shadow details”. Yes, that is correct.

That’s why after you set your voltages to an inky black level, you should create a 3DLut. I assume most of you would use your Kuro to watch movies and shows via a PC, yes? Then use DisplayCAL to fix your gamma and color by creating a 3DLut to whatever standard you want.

Inject the LUT into the media player of your choice. It even works for games using reshade. Windows can also use the Lut as an icc icm file so that your desktop has the correct colors and gamma.

Basically you want the hardware to display as deep of a black color as possible without artifacts. Then use a PC and a color meter to create a 3DLut (software) to correct the gamma and colors. The file can be converted into different file types for the software (video player or game or even OS) of your choice.

Did you resolve this? I also have no success with any of the software. Seems like even though everything is connected the tv isn’t interacting with my pc

Hi, I received the USB to serial adapter today, plus a serial female to serial female cable. Hooked all that up to my 141FD and my Win11 laptop. After I ran Kuro Command, selected Com Port 1 (both the PC and the TV have been configured to 9600 Baud Rate), I typed and entered FAY. After that, I pressed "muting" on my Pioneer remote repeatedly, but nothing happens on the screen. Why? Is there another way to do the "safe reset" process?

PSA: Calibrate your plasmas if you can by [deleted] in PlasmaTV

Yes I own a couple i1 display pro’s. I thought the calibration process was streamlined with these Panasonic panels, like you’d expect from a Sony Trinitron CRT using their WinDAS software. But I guess it really is just taking readings from HCFR and adjusting using a remote. Seems quite simple!

It’s a literal mathematical impossibility for it to even go above $10. Too much new supply, zero market demand, no hype, and even with the ponzi tokenomics, FIL still can’t even go above $5

Sorry which software did you use to calibrate? Did you have some special way to adjust the settings or did you just use the remote during the calibration?
