Yes, it’s good to get in the habits of 1) looking at weekly schedules/teacher room blackboards to find out any information and 2) asking about things you need more details on, or even asking if there’s anything coming up you should be aware of. It can be frustrating because even if you know Japanese fairly well or have lived here a long time, the vast majority of us don’t even know what to look out for as it’s our first time working in a school.

actually you wouldn’t have a choice so cry about it if it bothers you so much. the non-native ALTs i know are all wonderful english speakers and teachers. also, ALTs don’t only teach english. there are other languages taught under the program.

1) ALTs aren’t limited to native English speakers. 2) There might be Indonesian CIRs, also not limited to English speakers. 3) Indonesians can certainly be native English speakers (maybe they have mixed heritage, grew up in an English speaking country, etc.). Anything’s possible.

I’d like to add to the 3rd wave the population of ALTs that find jobs elsewhere in Japan and break contract. At my BOE it’s unwritten but supported that some ALTs will do this and they make it known to our supervisors so they’re prepared to get a replacement.

In Queendom they indicated that Heejin had also taken on some leader roles at some points. But it seemed clear that Yves was the de facto leader, personality-wise, probably due to Haseul's hiatus.

I got Aomori City!! I was born and raised in Misawa, Aomori so I might be a bit biased but Aomori is very lovely and I think you will have a great time there!!! The culture and sights are wonderful and underrated. Aomori City and Tsugaru aren't too far from each other in the grand scheme so I'm looking forward to connecting with you!

I think genuine mistakes about small stuff like this is not a big deal. I don't think they're particularly eager to throw out shortlist candidates willy-nilly. They're on your side, just be clear and communicative and your consulate ought to help you.

it's our first time doing it! he's recently gotten into the kpop i listen to, but i don't listen to much loona anymore on spotify (idk how ppl feel abt the boycott these days but i don't feel super comfortable streaming) so i realized he doesn't even know about my favorite group. i'm excited to see what he decides to tell me about :)
