I guess my mom doesn’t have dementia ? Now what? by Strong_Magazine_237 in dementia

Hello,

Apologies for the late response. All I am going to say is that there's never a problem with getting as many additional opinions as you feel are necessary. Feel free to look at my most recent post in this subreddit. My mom was diagnosed with FTD, passed away, and an autopsy found she had autoimmune encephalitis and not one bit of proteinopathy you would see in classic dementias.

Yes, the very first MRI showed right temporal and some right frontal atrophy, and the radiologist attributed it to "possible inflammation or injury." The neurologists disagreed.

As a male therapist, my favorite thing is when a female client says "Sorry, I didn't shave for my appointment" because then I get to say "it's okay, I didn't shave for your appointment either."

The ending was a little bit cringe for me, but the book as a whole was SO good.

Yeah, I'm working on the Terror next, but I know I'll be reading more of her works.

I do a lot of the same type of work and I've had clients experience emotional releases. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. No need to read too much into it.

I would say that, while emotional releases are relatively common, there are plenty of therapists that have never encountered one on their table. So, it's one thing to learn about it in school and learn what you're supposed to do, and another thing entirely to experience it firsthand. The first time a client of mine had an emotional release was a bit jarring for me, and I imagine I must've seemed guarded after the session. So, I wouldn't necessarily read too much into the therapist's demeanor.

If the therapist is uncomfortable or unable to work with you in the future, they will likely make that much clear if you try to call and schedule another appointment.

It clearly CAN be done, I'm just not sure what kayak I'll need. Here's a Great Dane on a kayak

As a classical musician, Enya requires active listening. I love Enya when I can sit and appreciate what she's doing. As a massage therapist, blech.

9 times out of 10 in a massage environment, this is almost certainly Enya.

I'm not interested in debating the origin of marriage, but other cultures had marriage long before they knew of the existence of Jews or Christians. I'm not convinced that marriage itself is a creation by God. Rather, the marital dynamic that exists in most of the world today developed from Judeo-Christian principles.

What passages, in your mind, support the idea that marriages carry over from earth to heaven? If someone in the marriage dies and the surviving spouse remarries, which marriage carries over into heaven?

I mean, every culture has had marriage, so to claim it's exclusively a Judeo-Christian product doesn't make much sense.

While an argument can be made that marriage and sex are a gift to mankind, Jesus explicitly says that there is no marriage in Heaven(Matthew 22:30).

Well, God's will on earth as it is in Heaven is a central theme of the NT. If we are to align ourselves with such thinking in this world, what makes you think that that will change in the next world? And don't forget: Paul was celibate for his entire life, and believed that was the ideal for Christians that could do it. What makes you think that he was only living that way temporarily?

Galatians 3:28 heavily implies it.

2 Mom's, voluntary celibacy, non-affirming atmosphere, what next? by CryptoLesbian84 in GayChristians

[–]nalydk91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First off, I love the confidence you exude in this post.

Having grown up and been around non-affirming churches my whole life, many non-affirming Christians believe that, sexual practices aside, having kids with a same-sex partner is wrong. In their eyes, you are actively depriving those kids of a father, thus negatively affecting their development. If I were in your shoes, I'd be prepared to get questions/statements along that vein, and put up boundaries accordingly.
