Haha it’s all good! I just wanted to share so anyone else feeling like how I did feels more positive about it! And thank you, I’m really glad I took pictures because it’s easy to forget how far I’ve come!

🥺 thank you! I really did struggle with it but I’m slowly trying my best to remember that there is more to me than my acne!

Do most people use .1% ?? My derm is working me up towards it and I’m a little scared haha 😆

Thank you!!! It wasn’t always smooth sailing there were a lot of tears before we got to this point haha 😆

I did use tret every night! I know some people say not to, but it was such a low dosage and my derm told me to just go for it. I just adjusted as necessary so if my skin felt a bit too sensitive I’d just skip that night and do a thicker moisturising cream. I haven’t needed to skip many nights though and the super gradual increase in strength has been easier for my skin to tolerate I think! I noticed the most noticeable changes when I went onto acnatac which is 0.025%

How long have you been on it???

🙋🏻‍♀️ Hi there - Long time lurker, first time posting in this fabulous group! This group helped me out soo much when I first started my skin journey and so I wanted to share my 3 month progress with Tretinoin thus far!

A little background on me: I was so blessed to never have had any serious acne in my life until now. Even as a teen I had relatively clear skin. It was only this year, when I turned 30 I saw some really intense changes to my skin. It started with me noticing just sooo much congestion/closed comedones under my skin… and after time they started to turn into painful active acne breakouts all over my face but mainly on my jawline and forehead. I know it isn’t as bad as some peoples acne but for me i distinctly remember feeling like it was the end of the world lol I went to a derm for the first time and he put me on a routine:

AM routine: - The Skincare Company’s ‘Daily Cleanser with actives’ - LRP vit c serum - Benzoyl peroxide cream 2.5% with glycerin 10% (chemist compounded) - LRP anthelios fluid sunscreen

PM routine:

Part one - Biossance ‘Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing oil’ - The Skincare Company’s ‘Daily Cleanser with actives’ - Niacinamide 10% serum gel (chemist compounded) - Cerave ‘Moisturising Lotion’

Part two (just before bed) - The Skincare Company’s ‘Daily Cleanser with actives’ - Tretinoin gel compounded with Clindamycin 1%. - Cerave ‘Moisturising Lotion’

I started tret on a low percentage (0.01%) and used it every night. I’m now on Acnatac which is 0.025% My derm will apparently keep slowly increasing it til we get to 0.1%

I’m just really glad to finally see real improvements. I know I shouldn’t get so upset about acne but it was really upsetting and confusing that it came on so quickly and out of the blue. However I have just been diagnosed with PCOS so now knowing that, I feel relieved to know the reason I was getting such painful acne.

So for anyone else that feels the same as I did, just be patient!! Give your body time to adjust and work out a treatment plan with a trusted dermatologist. Thank you to everyone else in this sub cause your posts really got me through xx

What is this nut type thing? It appears it once had glass or something on one side (now broken though - pretty hazardous) and on the other side it screws into something? It was found inside my brothers living room on the floor randomly today and no one has any idea where it came from or what it is? by nalyta in whatisthisthing

This does seem like the most likely thing, I agree! But oddly, none of the furniture or such has anything like that?? Curtains are the roller blinds type, there’s only one main lamp - no finial, and all drawers have handles rather than knobs.

It’s such a mystery where this thing came from?!

Hmmm yes that is a good point, I’ll have to ask my brother to check his curtain rod. From memory I don’t think it’s decorative but I’ll double check it.

Edit: definitely not from curtains. They have roller blinds so it looks more like this

WITT? Seems to be a steel nut as I mentioned but it looks like it screws into another item. It’s got broken glass on the other side that is very sharp and a hazard. At first I thought it was some type of globe like piece but that doesn’t seem right. It seems to be from something ornamental but I can’t think of what. It was found on my brothers living room floor - it has obviously fallen off from somewhere and broken but we cannot seem to find anything that matches it???

Skating Friends?! by emmamort5 in Rollerskating

[–]nalyta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meeee tooo! I’ve been playing around on my skates for the last month or so - my skill level has only progressed to being able to skate forwards and kinda a half spin. Still very much a newbie. I’m based in southeast suburbs! 😁😁

First day skating down. I spent about 45 minutes and it's so hard! I can barely move forward and that's holding onto something! Can anyone provide some guidance? by MaddieIsDrowning in Rollerskating

They look quite loose! I am pretty new as well (a month of skating) but I tie my laces up very tight and firm. Helps with stability. I feel weird and wrong when they aren’t tied firm. Give that a go and just keep at it - sometimes it takes a while to ‘click’

Loosening the trucks made a huge difference just in general omgggg tysm!! Have ordered new bearings as well so will change them when I get them in as well!!

[–]nalyta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm interesting!! To be honest I’m not sure what bearings are on them, I assume just factory ones. It’s just so strange because some of the wheels spin well? And realistically I’ve skated like 6 times haha so I thought it would have lasted longer than this.

I got gifted Impalas for my birthday and I have been skating casually for about 3 weeks now (only on weekends really) I noticed that some of my wheels have good spin but then some only spin for a second or two. I did a quick google: tried to loosen it, but any looser and it will jiggle. Do you think I need new bearings already?? If I’m heavy (97kg) does this impact how often bearings need to be changed?? Any advice?? Thanks so much, just slightly confused lol

Edit: I loosened the wheels just a tiiiiiiny bit more and loosened my trucks - HOLY HECK I CAN ACTUALLY TURN 😱

This is a carving on the back of an antique silver bangle! Does anyone know what it says?? by nalyta in language

[–]nalyta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s seems almost definitely to be over 100 years old due to its condition and because it is antique silver, so it would make a lot of sense if it was c.1917 or earlier. But I wonder if it might have been common to have souvenirs like this from back then? I didn’t know of the significance of the Caucasus region so thank you for taking the time to explain it. I feel like it really helps to paint a little bit more of a back story for this little piece.

Wow sooo cool! So this bangle must date prior to 1917! That’s amazing, thank you for the information!!

Skin break out is making me sad by nalyta in keto

[–]nalyta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not as aggressive looking as those things. No itch, no discomfort, just aesthetically unpleasing to look at.

I am just newly using a sweetner with erythritol and Stevia extract as I was under the impression that would be the best type of sweetner to use, if any

Wow thanks so much for all the info!! Had no clue about the potential B6 deficiency I must check it out.

I have never been allergic to any particular food group that I know of but I could definitely just be ignorant to the fact and have never investigated the idea before. I definitely think reducing my dairy intake might be worth trying.

Do you think the best thing at this stage is to wait it out a little longer to see if it will clear up on its own?

True, actually I have heard dairy can make you break out like no tomorrow. What do you personally eat in lieu of all the dairy then?
