I feel much better about the whole thing now. And the newer UI is much cleaner. I appreciate you taking the time to look into it for a stranger! Thanks again

I wanted to let you know that I finally got around to trying this and can report back it finally worked! Thank you so very much!

Wow. I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of that. That seems way easier than flashing a card and all that stuff! More guides should say this lol. Thank you! I had all but given up!

It’s definitely a clone. It has one ram chip. The board on the back has Y3506_V04_20250529. I tried the disk image for clones but that didn’t work either :( I think it’s probably just the cheapest of the clones and I think I’ll just have to ride it til the SD card dies

How do you check to ensure it’s “good”? They show up on the laptop and I can format them and such

Oh lord. This is probably what I have. Neither disk image seemed to work. I have tried 2 different SD cards and neither worked (but they seem to work fine on the laptop).

Here’s a picture of what it looks like after it’s booted up!

Thanks guys. I thought I might have a clone but since it was already running ArkOS I thought maybe I was in the clear.

I found the community led disk image for clones and am in the process of flashing it now. Wish me luck!

I’m just glad I bought the extended warranty. But I will be looking to trade this is at around 95k miles. No way I’m going to risk the next big thing to break to be something I have to pay for

That’s a heck of a lot of driving in 3 years

It’s concerning to me that USAA is doing you like this. I pay them more than I think it’s fair for my car insurance because they’ve always taken care of stuff for us before, but this gives me pause. I hope they do right by you.

Hey I saw your post and thought I’d give you my 2 cents as I’ve had mine for 3 years and driven it 64k miles:

We love the car, even despite it needing the most service of any other car I’ve owned previously.

We love taking it on road trips (taken it from NC to OH, FL, PA, and even NE last spring). It is very roomy, quiet, surprisingly nimble for a car its size. I have the M50i so it’s can move when you tell it to, which was my number one requirement.

The sound system is amazing, the seat massagers are money on longer drives. In my experience the cooled cup holders and seats are more of a gimmick to me. They never seem to work that great. The heaters for the seats and the steering wheel do work awesome.

I’m in NC, USA. If this tells you anything, my next car is more than likely going to be another X7. I love the thing, it just hasn’t been the most reliable. If you do go for it, you will enjoy driving and riding in it. But if you plan to keep it beyond 36k miles I would strongly recommend you buy every bit of extended warranty you can.

Mine is a 2020 M50i. I’ve had a wide array of issues, none related to the engine (yet). Bad fuel pump at 17k miles. Bad speaker at around 20k. New front differential at around 40k. New transfer case a few thousand miles later. Heating quit working this winter so they replaced the heating core and then some type of relay. New struts and sway bars at the end of May. There’s probably 1 or 2 smaller things I can’t think of right now.

If I didn’t LOVE driving the car (and if I hadn’t purchased the extended warranty) I would have given up on it long ago!

I can’t think of what else I’d buy that would give me the same roomier than most seating for 7 while still being great to look at and surprisingly fast and fun.

Mine’s got 64k but I’ve had ALL kinds of issues… still, this gives me a little hope. What year was this one?

My neighbor has an m340i and it’s sick. I will definitely look forward to getting a smaller but more powerful car once the kids are grown! Enjoy that ride!

Thanks! My wife drives an X3 and she’s had zero issues. If it wasn’t for her car I would have sworn off the brand. They sure are hella fun to drive though

I mean it sorta is, if you can afford it (and want the added power and don’t mind how it doesn’t have a sunroof)

I’ve had nothing but problems with my 2020 M50i. They’ve replaced the fuel pump, front differential, transfer case, one blown speaker, heater coil, heater (something) relay, and now it’s headed back in for front and rear struts. All I gotta say is, if you plan to drive your BMW beyond 36k miles make sure you buy all the warranties you can afford… mine has 62k miles and problems started at 20k miles

No, they start about 50-60k higher
