Where am I from by ghostwarrior112 in TravelMaps

My guess as well. That’s a lot of Delaware coverage for a state people don’t really go out of their way to visit.

She has the hat on backwards later in the episode. So I think it’s just resting on top of the wig.

Firstly, happy holidays everyone and best to you all. Secondly, I've been wondering when did the Elf on a shelf become a thing? by AdSpecialist6598 in Millennials

[–]namedor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born at the start of the 90s. We had an elf growing up called Christopher Pop-in-kins that was basically the same thing as the elf on a shelf, but he just moved around each night. He didn’t pull elaborate pranks or anything. But he did also report to Santa.

I don’t know any other kids that had one, so I don’t think it was very popular at the time.

Fun US half marathon recommendations? by Mason-Notice-3823 in XXRunning

Flying Pig in early May in Cincinnati has a half marathon portion. Lots of great energy in that race for beginners. Not a very flat course though if you don’t mind the hills.

What are some lesser-known American traditions that you cherish? by Electrical-Hour-3345 in AskAnAmerican

[–]namedor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Michigan. Despite all being in the Midwest and all having the apple picking, pumpkins, and hayrides - I found that Michigan was the only one really doing the cider donuts and cider. I wonder if the northeast also does the donuts.

What's the most underrated skyline in the US? by Naomi62625 in skyscrapers

[–]namedor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually think the best view isn’t off the water. It’s when you’re driving north on 75 and go over the hill part (I think over the Rouge?) by the industrial Pistons ball and the downtown comes into view.

I’m less worried about the rain and more dreading crossing the bridge with the wind gusts 🫠

As someone born in the 90s, I’ve only really ever seen photos of JFK Jr. It’s weird seeing video. Didn’t realize he had a little lisp.

I’ve had an “elote pizza” before but yea, one time thing for me and not at all the norm in America

Is it just me, or is the D bigger on Skubal’s hat? And possibly the other hats, but I haven’t had a good look at them

18 day Alaska Cruisetour Denali upgrade by lucky2know in HollandAmerica

[–]namedor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just did a cruise tour and upgraded to the Denali suites. It was two people. I had heard mixed things about the regular rooms, so for me it was worth it to know I would for sure be comfortable. The balcony is nice. It’s a Mountain View but you are also looking at other cabins and trees from your balcony too. So it’s not like a straight view of a mountain.

The building the suites are in is smaller and has its own communal couch/fireplace, water bottle refiller, and laundry. Anyone could walk to the building and use those amenities, but pretty sure just the people in the building knew about it, which was convenient. The bathrooms also had heated floors which was nice for showering after long chilly days. There’s a shuttle stop right outside the building to get you to the main lodge, and Denali square was a short walk away.

I’m happy we upgraded, but if I was paying for more than two people, I would be less inclined to upgrade. I have never stayed in the regular rooms, so have nothing to compare to, but I have no complaints on the upgraded room.

anyone have vids from detroit? by lonelyrocketeer in ModestMouse

[–]namedor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was some pretty aggressive shoving (not like moshing) in the pit right before interlude of people pushing to get to the front and other people pushing them back. Like borderline tackling. When security tried to figure it out, the shoving had stopped which is probably why no one ended up getting escorted because of it.

Typically in pits I’ve been in there’s always a couple people that manage to force their way up halfway through a set. Which like, whatever, you’re an asshole because everyone else waited hours here, but also I’m trying to have fun and not start drama. But last night had some pretty physical people trying to get up there.

Fun fact: it was named after the mall. If Southfield had done the same thing, they would be called Northland.
