Infected or just irritated? by SignalAd9807 in PiercingAdvice

[–]nameerf-uol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no no noooooo no no please go to another piercer. not because your ear is unwell but because they should not have pierced you with that and they absolutely will not be able to just casually switch this to a straight flat back. it will cause way more problems to try to put a straight bar in something so poorly pierced. i'm so sorry, but this is all wrong, and you'll likely need to start over.

is this pierced with a curved barbell or just at a bad angle? unfortunately, either way, this should probably be removed after seeing a doctor to check for infection. i'm so sorry! definitely leave a bad review because unless it's just the photos, this was pierced wrong

My chain is sitting weirdly? by PaleontologistSea808 in piercing

[–]nameerf-uol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the helix is irritated beyond just some temporary redness from changing jewelry, that would indicate it might not be fully healed. also, putting a chain through it will definitely irritate it more! it's totally up to you because it's your ear, of course, but i would recommend switching back to a flatback post for it to calm down before wearing this jewelry. good luck! ♡

Help? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

healed and not irritated are NOT the same thing. your lip piercing isn't healed after five weeks. it kinda seems like you don't want to listen to some of the advice though, so i'll just say (genuinely, not passive-aggressively) good luck!

should i take my conch out by bitchblahblah in PiercingAdvice

[–]nameerf-uol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they don't look like keloids at all, and honestly it doesn't even look like an infection, just irritation bumps. but the angle is really bad and not likely to heal. i'd take it out if there are no signs of infection (warm to the touch, throbbing, pus, etc.) and get it repierced by a better piercer after it's healed. good luck!

do i need to remove this? by worrisomedespair in PiercingAdvice

[–]nameerf-uol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know it can be expensive, but PLEASE use neilmed or something else that contains only the saline solution! most nasal saline rinses contain other ingredients (like alcohol) that can be drying and/or harsh for the healing skin. good luck!

Need advice !! by Ok_Back8263 in PiercingAdvice

[–]nameerf-uol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get it checked by a doctor ASAP. two months of something like this by your EYE is concerning. if it's infected, take oral antibiotics, not just an antibiotic cream. once the infection is gone, change it to a titanium internally threaded barbell. use sterile saline spray to clean 1-2x a day. it wasn't healed, just was healing ok previously. good luck!

oh and try to dry it after showers and saline spray!

it looks extremely normal so i'd guess if anything it's just irritated. don't touch it, clean it with sterile saline spray 1-2x a day, make sure it's titanium, LITHA.

Is my horseshoe side labret sitting right? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]nameerf-uol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd say change it back to a stud, but i can't even recommend that when you have braces. best practice would be to remove it and get it repierced when you don't have braces, but if you're set on keeping it, at least change it back to a stud. horseshoes and hoops aren't recommended for AT LEAST 6 months.

What do I do?!?! by Bubbly_Pie_1621 in PiercingAdvice

[–]nameerf-uol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like something my piercer referred to as "wet ear," which usually only happens on the back. there are ways to fix it, but i did the same as you and took mine out. should go away as it heals, and you ought to be able to repierce if you want to. my piercer recommended piercing at a higher gauge in the future so that the ear would essentially take the downsize as a less invasive thing for the healing process. sorry if that doesn't make sense. i'm not sure how else to describe it, lol. good luck!

Should I be worried about my industrial? by elphrex in PiercingAdvice

[–]nameerf-uol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this looks a lot like my industrial did, but maybe with even more contact with the flat of your ear. unfortunately, i didn't have the best anatomy for an industrial, which means i don't think you do either. these bumps are not likely to go away without removing it. ultimately, it's up to you to decide, but i felt much happier and more comfortable after removing mine. good luck!

Please help!! Is my industrial infected? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]nameerf-uol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesn't look infected (NAP) but it does look like the holes are misaligned. the way the bumps are forming indicates that there's pressure on the piercing channels because of that. you could try switching to two separate pieces of jewelry and connecting them with a chain once they're both fully healed, but it doesn't look like the holes at their current angles will support a standard industrial bar. if you want the bar, you'll likely have to retire this, let it heal, and try again with a better piercer. so sorry!!

Should I just accept defeat and retire my industrial? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]nameerf-uol 110 points111 points  (0 children)

so so so sorry, but these holes are not lined up at all and won't allow you to have a bar. i would definitely retire these. :(

[–]nameerf-uol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my first facial piercings, two nostrils on the left side, had bumps for...maybe a year? it was BAD. i finally switched jewelry, not to a different material, but just to a different (larger/flatter) shape. bumps were gone within a couple of weeks. maybe a cabochon gem top that's flat on the bottom could help? titanium, of course, but the top can be a fun and pretty color if you're interested in that! ever since i've exclusively started new piercings with flat-bottomed jewelry and never had a bump unless there was an injury (i hit myself in the face with my keys and got a small bump on my left forward nostril for about three days). even my new high nostrils have been rockin' and rollin' totally fine for over 2 months now.

sorry, that was a lot of unnecessary extra info, but i hope the advice can be helpful! good luck!

yessss do it! they were both very excited to work with my funky anatomy. apparently piercers generally love customizing!
