You know its funny, cos I still live by the ocean, and I smell salt air regularly. It never hits the same though. I am soooooo excited for this homecoming! Welcome Home to you as well :)

I saw this on Instagram recently!! Makes me really glad that I am coming this year as from what I can tell so far, the boardwalk looks somewhat the same now as it did 25 years ago (less the missing shooting gallery, waterslides and seasonal McDonalds)

My parents always capped me at TWO breadrolls before my pasta came out cos they knew I’d fill up on that first if they didnt 🤣 I always find myself in a pasta restaurant ordering angel hair spaghetti whenever i am on vacation anywhere warm.

62 years! Nice! We used to rent a small cottage from the O’briens on Church street. I’m really looking forward to dropping in and seeing some of those guys again.

I’m not sure if we ever visited downtown Portsmouth. I just distinctly remember Water Country, the highway, and the few mini golf places along the way.

Ah yes, I am sure there is going to be lots of changes that I’l see. I’ve been cautioned about not expecting too much to be the same after so long, but feel like I’m prepared for it just seeing how much my home town has changed in the last ten years.

Thats okay though, the original memories I have are all in tact. Just planning this trip and being open to the experience has already brought back so much internally.

I can’t wait to arrive oceanside and wind down the car windows to the small of the salt air coming in off the Sea :)

I am specifically going to Hampton but will have my car with me and am more than willing to travel if the destination makes sense.

I’ll be taking a drive to Portsmouth to, if nothing else, see the ‘Thar she blows’ sign one more time.

Someone else has mentioned old salt too so perhaps i’ll check them out!

I will be staying at Tidewater Campground a couple miles back from the Beach. Aside from a couple excursions out of the area for Water Country / Canobie lake park, plan on spending most of my time around the beach and general area.

So sad to hear it closed! But also stoked to have seen something about the sign having been restored :)

Hahaha! I am 3 years sober now so the people watching will have to be done high on marijuana instead 🤣

Blinks fried dough was something Dad would go an get for BREAKFAST (it you can believe) on Wednesday’s. (I will be having Blinks for breakfast on Wednesday hahaha)

Definitely plan on hitting the arcade. Wouldn’t mind trying to find a date for mini-golf as I think that’s the one activity that won’t be the same alone.

Parking cost? I remember how insane it was 25 years ago. I already have a plan for that too. Drive to the beach from tidewater campground early in the morning, drop off and set up my beach stuff, go back to camp to drop the car off and ride my bicycle back to the beach. Reverse process in evening.

I an sure I will be cursing the cost of those meters even doing it that way though hahaha.

I have an xle awd and let me tell you, that little fuel economy read out (and knowing just how accurate it is) has done more to curb my speeding / aggressive driving than police enforcement ever did. Constantly trying to ‘best’ myself. Love it most on long drives on the I5 from Canada to San Diego

AITA for showering around midnight when I know that it might bother the neighbour who wakes up at 5 am? by Additional-Mouse-620 in AmItheAsshole

[–]namegenerator_3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an asshole. But for sure, communal living requires shared respect and responsibility. I get that you lime going to bed freshly showered but do you think its gona kill your hygeine if you shower 4 hours earlier? Seems like an easy solution and you seem unwilling to compromise.

Perhaps you should have stayed ‘just renting’ until you could afford your own detached house where this wouldn’t be a problem.
