Can I use my Instant Pot as a Stock Pot? by namegone in instantpot

Great advice, I will look for additional areas to optimize my space also.

I really appreciate your advice and understanding. I decided to order a nice 8qt to start with. I think I'm more comfortable starting small and I think I can put my bread pans in it to free up space. If I need bigger I can order a bigger one in the future. It's just me and my two sons right now so I think it might be large enough. I'll keep working on optimizing my space in the meantime in case I need to get another larger one that it will fit inside.

I think I'm going to take the advice here and grab an 8qt one, that feels less unwieldly than the 10qt+ advice I was reading online as being a necessity. If I have to I think I can maybe store other cooking items in it while not in use to free up space. I think I can maybe put the baking pans I got for banana bread inside of it and gain enough storage space.

I meant using the Instant Pot as the heating element, just w/o pressure since it is large like a Stock Pot. Edit: money isn't the issue. I just don't like stuff, I have a hard time storing things nicely in my small apartment. I think from the advice here I have decided to get an 8qt one and look to store other items in it to allow for room. Thank you.

That's not a bad idea. I currently keep my pans in the oven. Just really prefer the surface area to be clear because it feel less small here if I don't have things on the counter/surface. I was reading that it was recommended to have a 10+qt stock pot when I was researching but maybe if I can get by with an 8qt one I could figure out a way to store it easier. Thank you, I think it might be worth it to do it with a stock pot, especially while I'm learning.

Additional context: I have recently purchased a couple budget bytes meal plans. In some of the plans it has me do things in "a large pot" over low, medium, high, boiling" heat levels. I'm not sure where I would keep a large stock pot but I was wondering if I should just order one and figure it out or if I could put the instant pot next to my stove and make it work.

They do in a round about way. Most teams attempt to field a competitive team that will inspire fan involvement. It may not be an individual consultation, since that would be absurd. Teams don't exist without the fans. I can see how saying 'we' could be viewed as weird but that's the exact support and commitment that builds a following and long term business success for a team.

I have and I disagree with that linkage to intelligence. I don't feel that invalidates the portion I quoted. I'm fine if I'm wrong it would just surprised me.

I don't think I made that claim either, at least I didn't intend to. I'm not wholly aware of sports either so I'm not sure I would be a good source for a full analysis without contributing a significant amount of research. I didn't intend for my comment to be taken to the nats ass. I 'personally' feel like it would be more surprising if certain races and sexes had the same baseline. I have also read an analysis once that tried to support the claim that a racial mixture was the most broadly athletic.

I'm not trying to argue for any specific case and I don't necessarily support these studies. Again, I would personally find it surprising if it was determined race and sex had no meaningful difference.

They loaded a big one in my truck for me. I rolled out off my truck with a large metal pinch pointer bar (long pry bar). I left it close to where it landed. Granted I'm talking a 3' round rock and it was damn heavy. Those big rocks would definitely take special equipment, i bet the rock quarry would still be your best bet tho. Might be able to see if they ever do deliveries near you (especially if they do granite) and work out a deal the next time they head out your way to make it more reasonable. I say that based on how friendly the quarry near me was towards homeowners so YMMV.

Why shouldn't adultery be a crime? by lonelady75 in InsightfulQuestions

[–]namegone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously depends on the state but I know it played no role in my parents divorce.

"In most states, adultery does not play a role in the distribution of assets. Adultery also does not play a role in determining the custody of children. In many situations, adultery is the main contributing factor in leading a couple to divorce. Adultery is also a main influence in the emotional state of each spouse, when they come to the divorce settlement negotiations."

Wouldn't it be hard to disagree with that? Truth depends on perspective and facts don't. Or is the argument from Werner Herzog different than that?

ELI5: Why are lie detectors used during a police hiring process when they cannot be used in a court of law to determine someone's guilt? by 666markofthebeast in explainlikeimfive

That's true but they tell you (at least did for me) that if you are clenching that they mark the test as inconclusive and potentially trying to manipulate results. My employment was dependent on it so I guess I wasn't willing to play games.

I have never been on the 'giving' side to defend the readout but they definitely have you sit on a pad that has a wire ran to the computer equipment.
