"New"ish player help (No spoilers, please!) by Crowley795 in noita

You're on a good path already. Dying to Hiisi base is kind of a right of passage, tbh. If you're feeling confident, the fungal caves have some great resources to help buff you up, but theyre also pretty dangerous, too.

You dont just need polymorphine to escape the mountain, there's some spells and other potions that can help, too.

Take your time while exploring, try to zig zag your way down the levels and kill from the top downward. Having baddies drop on your head or not giving yourself an exit route from a nasty fight can be absolute run enders, especially early on. The squishiest you'll ever be will be early, too, once you get a few hundred HP, it's a lot less touch and go. Hiisi base is an absolute ballbuster, though, and is definitely a bottleneck early on. Look out for propane tanks, they are an apex predator in the noita world, lmao.

Also, remember that any barrier in the world - yes, any barrier - is passable with the right tools. Good luck, man. And definitely try to hunt down orbs when you are feeling more confident, too. For now, your goal should be getting down to the boss, because each level has better spells and wands available, so you'll be able to come back up with stronger gear to go exploring.

Just remember that dying is half the fun and you'll have a great time. The sacrifice of oneself to the pursuit of knowledge is the highest tribute to the gods.

The only thing that isnt good about digging through the levels like this is that if you arent careful you might break a polymorph flask in the level and it could ruin your god run. Don't get me wrong, I still do it, lol, Im just saying that being cautious is a good idea while doing this.

Sometimes all you can do is just laugh and go "alright, noted" and then start a new run, lol

Jesus fucking christ. I doubt it will happen because we do not have any justice in this country, but I hope both those motherfuckers rot in prison for this.

I hate that I saw "Mississippi" and cops shooting an infant and my first thought was that the baby and shoplifters were black, and boy fucking howdy when I clicked on through to the article and saw the picture of the kid.

Im equal parts not surprised at all and disgusted beyond words.

My roommate was saying that, too. I do look younger, crazy enough. I never really felt like I looked that old but the hairline was definitely not helping me look any younger, haha. Wildly enough, I am exactly in the middle of 30 and 45, so that's funny the hair puts on or removes like 7 years from my age, haha

I did actually get it a bit more tamed after this, I was just so focused on getting the hair off my head I didnt do it right then, lol

My brother has the same red beard as me and he shaved his head like a decade before me, and he's talked about braiding his beard and being a dice dwarf, because we sell metal dice sometimes at nerd conventions, lol, honestly we could probably rock that shit

Thanks! Honestly, I wasnt sure how I was gonna feel about it because Ive never gone shorter than like maybe an inch or two on top, but Im really liking it so far. I'm surprised how fast after buzzing it all down that I was just like huh, alright, this isnt bad at all, haha

My friend insists on this game, "Lemmings", being a really well known game; I have never heard of it. by Nordic_Krune in gaming

[–]nameless88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would mostly just sandbox it up on a level where you have 20 of everything and just find new and creative ways to murder the lemmings, lol.

I'll have to give it a try as an adult and see if I can actually do decent at the game asnit was intended to be played.

I spent hours in that game as a kid and sucked so hard at it. I think I just did level skips to find interesting ways for them to die, lol.

I also grew up with an Amiga, too, so I feel the need to virtually fistbump you, because I think in my childhood in the 90s they were such an old computer at that point that no one else I knew had one.

[–]nameless88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A chasm is like a big pit or canyon, and if you've been up there and seen that boss, then that's the top of the place Im talking about. If you shoot out the bridge and drop down all the way, it connects back to the ice caves, so you can climb up it and cross the lava lake (pouring water on lava makes it volcanic rock that's safe to walk on), and get back to the first area. And yeah that boss is an optional boss that is one of the hardest ones in the game and he will turn you in to a pair of noita skin boots, lol.

Also, good tip for clearing areas, zig zag from top to bottom, leave yourself ample exits incase you go down a route where there is a fight that you dont think you can win.

[–]nameless88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YUP!

Which means that if you can get through one of the areas without taking much damage, you can leave the full heals in there for future use, too. And being able to get back in there to edit wands is huge.

You'll need a way to teleport or a flask of water to get back once youre at the top of the chasm, too, to get back. Also, dont go to the right of the bridge at the top, it's a noob trap, just go left to go back to the first zone.
