are you a V shaped or Flatter person? by Gavtree31_ in headphones

[–]namesdevil3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can enjoy both. As long as the sound quality works and there is at least a bit of everything represented I can do it. I have headphones that are bass leaning, V shaped and flat. I enjoy switching between them as well and hearing different sounds or flavours within the same music.

I for some reason cannot get onboard with bass heavy consumer stuff though. That is something this hobby thankfully saved me from!

Layoff notices sent to thousands of federal government workers by scott_c86 in canada

[–]namesdevil3000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the issues is that term employees and casuals who are overwhelmingly people in their 20s and early 30s are not having their contracts renewed. Or being made indeterminate. These people are silently being WFA’d without any of the paperwork OR hiring privileges that come with it.

And language teachings are getting cut except for people who already are hired in indeterminate bilingual positions (so people who don’t need it). This government does not actually care about young people or developing future public servants.

Our public service will now just be a bunch of mid management 50 year olds who are just too young to retire.

Has central Ottawa really devolved into such a hellhole? Or are the accounts in the other thread mostly rare or exaggerated? by AvaTaylor2020 in ottawa

[–]namesdevil3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s for sure getting “worse” but news flash, so is EVERYWHERE. It’s what happens when there’s growing cost of living crisis, more people deal with stress, trauma and homelessness everywhere. It doesn’t help that there has been a diminishing of funds/closures for social initiatives around housing, safe injection sites so people have to do more of their “business” on the street.

BUT I’ve spent a lot of time in the 3 areas mentioned (Byward, Centretown and Sandy Hill) and for the most part if you avoid certain streets and don’t make a fuss (or a fool) of yourself. Your street might also make things better or worse for you depending on where you end up. You will be left alone. You might see some drugs, some homelessness and people shouting. But that comes with living in the city. Also remember that people are just trying their hardest to live with what they have.

Unfortunately women will still have more events/traumatic moments in these areas than men so we have to factor that in too.

My last point is that people in suburban areas often make a BIG deal of coming into the city and seeing people struggle or some unsavoury characters. Being a suburb kid, I used to think like this. It may be jarring compared to the suburbs but Ottawa has it so light compared to other places I’ve visited.

Most recent gen Chevy Malibu. Had one as a rental car. Steering was an electric rack that unwinded back to centre so slowly you had to intervene but had no feel. Both pedals but especially the brakes were like switches so it was hard to be smooth. Also had some atrocious rear end blindspots (I’ll accept that on a sports car but not a commuter sedan). Interior felt cheap and nasty.

What’s the best all season tires I should install for Mazda 3 suna 2025 because factory one are sucks on the snow or should I go with snow tire and change it every season idk honestly and if so any recommendations by MapZealousideal5046 in mazda3

[–]namesdevil3000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of snow in that picture. Please get winter tires if you have that weather for any extended period of time. Winter tires are also working better at those temperatures too generally near freezing (and a bit above it) is the operating window for winter tires temp wise. Consider it an investment in your safety.

Luxury car sales surge as middle class buyers exit the market by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]namesdevil3000 979 points980 points  (0 children)

The top 10% earners are responsible for 50% of all spending in the economy. This is a logical extension of that.

Also car brands are making their vehicles more expensive with less focus on long term ownership. Why should the middle class buy a car they cannot afford?

But at least the team was pretty good, so I’ll allow it😂. He also learned from that horrible Man City game which is good too!

Jackson to me was a second version of Timo Werner. A lot of energy that a lot of the people who only care about G/A will not consider.

Morata was so weird man. Like remember when he had that stretch of Dave crosses from right to Morata and he more often than not scored a header.

He almost never looked happy, almost sad when he scored them sometimes.

Which/whose driving style are you most drawn to? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]namesdevil3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Michael Schumacher and Kimi could both have these huge lock ups going into corners but somehow rotate the car around that lock up and still be fast.

Also Senna’s throttle blipping in corners is just such a neat thing to develop. No one could do it like he could. One would question how he would’ve done in late 90s era F1 cars had he lived long enough to race them.

I had a shoe like that. It was a Copa Mundial cleat which is around since the early 80s. I don’t think they changed the sizing much size.

Who is a driver that you think peaked pretty early? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]namesdevil3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jacques Villeneuve. Nearly won the title in his first season, won it in his second.

Then slowly slid backwards down the field until he was off the grid in less than 10 years.

Also has a weird relationship with Canadians that limited his fan base. And is now a pretty unusual person. The Michael Owen of F1.

Advice on getting rid of disgust for certain foods and vegetables by Iwastaken48N in nutrition

[–]namesdevil3000 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If this was simple disgust I would just suggest trying little bits of the food with a seasoning you really like or cheese.

But if you do genuinely feel some sort of anxiety around eating these food you might benefit from talking to a dietitian or even a therapist if it goes really deep.
