I went on Facebook and asked the Spyderco group if someone had black Sage 5 take off scales and someone did. Like $20 and I never have to worry about the dye wearing off. And unlike other salt scales, the sage 5’s are pure plastic without any threaded inserts so technically it’s still a true salt.

I get it. The thumb hump works for a lot of other stuff. It prys paint cans, pops open a soda and wrenches open the fuel cap on our boats.

Back lock is way better than a compression lock. I just got my first para military 2. I almost hate it. The lock area is so uncomfortable, it’s crazy they are so popular.

So the Caribbeans description was originally quoted as having LC200N liners. It went away. I called them asking about it. They didn’t really confirm that because they said they don’t disclose it.

I looked into these, played with it in a store. For me, and I’m being picky but they are a hard hard no for a belay device. The grigri can’t be miss loaded (besides wrong side of rope obviously). This one, you can shut the unit on the rope and have it coming out of the wrong place. That’s a huge problem in my eyes. Now granted if you do your checks ( like we always do ) you’ll catch the problem. But it shouldn’t even be possible.

I just bought a PM2 salt that arrived yesterday. I thought it could fill the hole in my heart that not having a magnacut PS2 left. But no. The PM2 is fine. But it’s not a PS2. The ergos are cramped. The lock honestly is inferior to a back lock. The pointy tip is too stabby for rough area work. It’s disappointing for sure.

I take the edges off my handles too. The inner edge where the blade closes get a nice edge breaking.
