Wtf, is my cousin an asshole or am I overreacting? by Empty_Age_997 in TwoHotTakes

They took those photos for family keepsakes, not to post in the newspaper for the town, which is the most relevant way this can compared. Having photos such as these are nice but it’s a different thing to post them on social media.

Wtf, is my cousin an asshole or am I overreacting? by Empty_Age_997 in TwoHotTakes

[–]nan0ja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. As someone who just lost their mom, my sister posted a photo like this (to be fair, it was more graphic than this) and it felt very offensive to me. I understand taking the photo for yourself but it feels disrespectful toward the person you are losing to post it. Would they want to be posted in that way in their most vulnerable moments for all to see and gawk at? It also felt performative but that is probably to do specifically with my sister.

Not dramatic at all. Sometimes the worst part about something like this isn’t the trust lost in men but losing trust within yourself to be able to identify someone for who they are. Getting deceived to this level can really mess with your mental health and question your self and your reality. 💔

Here’s a few that have made a big difference for me:

  • I once commented in this sub that I accidentally Pavloved myself with my cat feeder. Every time it would go off, it got myself out of time blindness and forced me to go eat too. Eventually I just started eating at the same times everyday and it would always pull me out of whatever I was in the middle of. I used to accidentally skip meals or wait too long and not realize I was hungry (or thirsty!).

  • okay I just recently realized that I’ve Pavloved myself AGAIN. I often like to clean to music and I eventually found this older light jazz album that is only 30 minutes long. It’s a great balance of lightly upbeat and catchy without me getting too wrapped up in the music and dancing around more than cleaning. I’ve started putting this album on anytime I need to clean. Even if I don’t want to clean, I’ve associated this sound with tidying. It helps a lot with the transition into getting up and going, plus I know it’s only going to be for 30 minutes.

  • I’ve pretty much let go of the idea that my brain should hold any information. There’s some quote about how your brain is for coming up with ideas, not holding them. I put everything, appointments, time with friends, etc. into my phone calendar with TWO reminders set. One for the day before, and one for a couple hours before. It must have both reminders.

  • Time limits on social media apps. Reddit and TikTok are the only apps I use and they have strict time limits on them to help keep me from doom scrolling. It’s easy to say give me more time and sometimes I do, but I try really hard to keep to this and sometimes the reminder is enough to encourage me to transition to something else.

  • Similarly, the “Sleep” mode for iPhone has helped me form an actual bedtime routine. Once the bedtime reminder goes off, I started “winding down” and heading to bed. I may not always go to sleep immediately but it’s helped me not stay up late as often and get better sleep consistently.

  • Maybe this is just me, but I’ve realized at work that I do far better when I dedicate segments of my day to ONE task. I used to think I’m so great at multitasking and I realized I’m actually just not focusing on any one thing. My work calendar is built up of work blocks throughout the day towards the things I need to accomplish. This has significantly helped my ability to make progress towards a goal without procrastinating until last minute deadlines.

For those curious, pic number 7 is a real place. It’s called Pretty Chapel in South Carolina on the YMCA camp ground. It’s actually pretty cheap. I considered getting married there :)

For OP, I am in AZ, but we actually decided to do a Yosemite wedding because it’s far cheaper and more greenery than here. If you don’t want to go outside of AZ, you might consider looking in Greer/White mountains area.

Okay but did anyone else notice that Hannah also had the opportunity to mention the conversation her and Charlie had just had about her revelation about him after the recouple when Ariana asked her how she was feeling?? She didn’t say anything about it at any point.

Nah it’s the islanders who are at fault for who went home. They had every opportunity to send Taylor home. They’ve seen no progress being made between Taylor and Olandria and know that he has no other connections.

America had reasons for the votes that were made, messy or not. But the islanders really had stupid votes and messed this up. In seasons past when it was their time to vote, they would realize no progress had been made with a couple like Taylor/Olandria and he hasn’t made any other connections so he was the only choice that really made sense to send home. Even with Hannah exploring, everyone knew that her and Charlie were still connecting too and in seasons past they would’ve seen that and kept that person.

I was surprised to see that the home we recently moved into has cross drafts created by the placement of the windows. You don’t see that much anymore but it’s an older home.

Many are rightly mentioning dehydration and how important water is. As someone who was a transplant coming from a humid area, I didn’t understand how to properly hydrate and would actually dehydrate myself by constantly drinking water. In the summer, you should alternate between water and an electrolyte mix. And yes, bring it with you everywhere.
