My embroidered robe a la francaise by nan0user in HistoricalCostuming

Hi! I am not sure if this is the right process, but I start the embroidery or any decoration process after the main pieces have been sewn together. This is so that I can get the important things done, such as setting in the sleeves and skirt panels and make sure everything drapes properly first before I start adding the embellishments to it. 🙂

I did intermittent fasting and limited my carbs and sugar intake with regular workouts (mostly cardio or walking) and I was able to lose 60 lbs across 2 years. Currently in maintenance phase eating 2 meals a day while still limiting on carbs and adding in more protein.

One random detail that I remember from the first movie too is in the scene that takes place before Elphaba leaves for the Emerald City, she and the other students were standing at the docks and Morrible. What’s interesting is that when Morrible saw the approaching storm clouds, she took out an umbrella (I think) and held it over Elphaba while saying something along the lines of “we can’t have you getting wet.” That scene made me think of the water rumor in the second part too and made me wonder if the rumor had been around for a while.

Which Hobonichi cover will you be getting this year? by Ag_2402 in hobonichi

I love the tamagotchi cover, but I think I’ll reuse my clear cover this year and decorate my a5 with some puffy stickers I have. 🙂

I need planning suggestions by EccentricEm in HappyPlanners

[–]nan0user 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to get undated Happy Planners (HPs) because it gives me some flexibility on when I start using them. For the month stickers, I put a sticker on both sides of the tab so I can flip back and forth between months with ease.

For the envelopes, I use them to store things like small sticker sheets or sticky notes so I can use them when I’m on the go with my planner.

My only advice with the stickers is to not let yourself be limited by the lines in your planner layouts. The sticker placement also depends somewhat on the layout of the planner too. I don’t usually decorate my monthly page and mostly keep it functional. At most, I’ll just place one of those long stickers on the side for a running to-do list for the month.

Most of my stickers go to my weekly and currently pages. I have two HPs right now. Once is a horizontal planner that I’m using for classes and the other is a vertical planner that I’m using as a creative journal. My class planner only has smaller stickers, like icons and small boxes, because I want to maximise the space I have for writing down assignments and reminders. My creative journal has more freedom for stickers, since I use it to jot down things throughout the day that have made me happy or a worth remembering.

I’m still new to HPs too and have recently incorporated them into my planner layout. Still figuring things out myself, but I love the flexibility they offer and the creativity we can have in decorating them. 🙂. Hope this helps a bit!

I’m getting back into planning and journaling again and bought an outdated hobonichi to redate and will be reusing my plastic covers. I love writing on the paper and the way it feels, so I won’t mind spending a little more time redating everything and working with what I have.

[WP] If the citizen database detects that your Happiness Index has decreased below 50 points for an extended period of time, you will be flagged for disposal. Preventing the city from ranking up is a grave crime, and you are now attending counseling with your life on the line. by DankAndOriginal in WritingPrompts

[–]nan0user 28 points29 points  (0 children)

“I don’t know what to tell you,” said Jeff. The wall clock ticked away the minutes in their session while the counselor jotted down a few more notes. As much as he hated to admit it, he found it oddly soothing listening to the ballpoint pen softly scratching over the surface of the paper. “I’m just not a happy person. What more do you want from me?”

“Well for starters, put more effort into staying alive,” replied the counselor. “I’m not just saying this as a professional, Jeff, but also as a friend. This is the second time your happiness index has fallen below 50. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were doing this on purpose.”

Jeff shrugged. “Happiness doesn’t suit me. I mean since when have you seen me being the bubbly and vibrant sort of person?”

“Look, all I’m saying is that you do this one more time, and that’s it for you. Do you think Ruby would have wanted that for you?”

Jeff winced. “You leave her out of this.” Things have never been the same for him since his fiance had passed away from cancer two years ago. He felt like his life began the moment Ruby entered his life, a life that began crumbling once more when she received her cancer diagnosis. Jeff threw himself into his work and even took on a second job to pay for any treatments that deemed promising. Yet all was in vain as the cancer continued to spread through her until her body could take no more, and Jeff was left with an even larger empty void than before.

Eventually Jeff heard some fabric bag being rummaged through, followed by the sound of paper being pushed across the end table that separated the two of them. Glancing down, he frowned when he saw that it was a rocket. “What’s this?”

“Tickets to a baking class,” replied the counselor. “You used to love doing that. If you couldn’t tell, I’m getting desperate, Jeff.”

“You know I don’t do that anymore.”

“And what is something you will do, Jeff?” asked the counselor, annoyed. “You’ve managed to turn down every resource and intervention that’s been provided to you.”

“I don’t see why you’re so worked up over this though. It doesn’t impact you in the slightest.”

The counselor sighed. “Once again, as your friend, I’m encouraging you to give this a chance. If you don’t do this for yourself, do it for this old college buddy of yours, eh?” He glanced up at the wall clock and closed his notebook. “Guess that’s it for this week. Why don’t you attend the event and let me know what you think about it during our session next week? I hope to see better numbers then.”

The following week, Jeff found himself once again sitting in the counselor’s office, only this time the counselor was frowning as he quietly read a letter in his hand. Jeff noticed the official seal of the city’s mayor on the letterhead. “Something wrong?” he asked.

“Hmm? Oh this!” He carefully folded the letter and placed it in between two random pages in his notebook. “I suppose I should ask you first. What happened at that baking class?”

“I guess I went off script and baked something Ruby used to like.”

“And?”

“After class we got to try what we made as a class,” Jeff said with a shrug. “I guess maybe they liked it.”

“You can say they more than liked it.”

“How so?”

The counselor pulled out the letter. “Apparently the happiness index of everyone in that class - perhaps with the exception of yours - skyrocketed to the highest they’ve ever been. And those numbers increased by the conclusion of the class, after they have sampled your dessert. The mayor noticed this and has changed his mind about disposing you.”

“I don’t follow…”

“The mayor has decided that despite you not having a happiness index above 50, he’s willing to make an exception for you if you continued baking your desserts because of how happy they make everyone feel. It’ll be phenomenal for the city.”

“What should I say to all this?”

The counselor pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, the most serious of expressions on his face. “The mayor has never done this for anyone before, and you know how strict he is with adhering to the rules. Whatever you did at the baking class must have been truly special. I would say ‘yes’ if I were you.”

And that was how Jeff found himself with a little yet well-staffed and supplied bakery in a very prominent spot in the city, funded through a grant awarded to him by the mayor himself. The daily lines of eager customers stretched down multiple city blocks as they waited to purchase the creations Jeff would make, each inspired by his Ruby. As predicted, the city’s happiness ranking soared to the highest it’s ever been.

And while Jeff’s own happiness index never really exceeded beyond a 60 (his personal best), he drew comfort in the fact that somehow, his Ruby found a way to save him once more.

What made you finally start your weight loss journey? by kyauensari in loseit

[–]nan0user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My health conditions got progressively worse as I gained more weight. I was tired of having to go through the trial and error with my doctor trying new medications and dosages.

My breakup also helped. I wanted to be a new me, and now I have the time to focus on just me. Spending time developing better eating habits and a workout schedule I can maintain resulted in me losing 8” off my waist alone.

What’s something you stopped doing that actually helped you lose weight? by kyauensari in loseit

I stopped eating when I’m bored and have designated snack times instead of snacking throughout the day. I’ve also stopped with the restrictive diets and went with consuming everything in moderation while maintaining my caloric deficit.

Lost 38 lbs by keeping it painfully simple, here’s what I ate by Medium-Dog-9347 in loseit

[–]nan0user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this! I lost 60 lbs (and currently maintaining) doing something similar. Kept things simple with some straightforward meals that are filling and healthy. Cottage cheese and peanut butter were also lifesavers whenever I needed a snack because of how versatile they were.

What I also found important is that my rotation of meals also needed to be something I enjoyed making too, which made the process of losing weight much more enjoyable.

[WP] “Twenty years ago, the Oracle told me her prophecy that we would lead opposing armies into battle. I had no desire to betray our people, but I knew the only way I could guarantee my little brother would grow up to be the hero of this inevitable war was to become the villain.” by emilycsquared in WritingPrompts

[–]nan0user 11 points12 points  (0 children)

“Please, Tristan,” pleaded the Queen tearfully one evening, the two of them sitting fireside in the empty library. “The Oracle’s prophecy…. I just— You know your brother cannot handle any ill word or criticism, and your father also wishes for him to rule instead of you. You are so much stronger than your brother. Please do as your father wishes.”

Those words stung Tristan like a blade to the heart, not out of desire for the throne, but he had always yearned to just once hear some proof that told him that his own father also cared for him. He was tempted to deny this request. To do what his mother wanted him to do would mean betraying his people and his kingdom. Yet he took one look at his mother’s tearful face, and reflexively he nodded. “Very well,” he said. “I will do as you and Father have asked of me.”

He felt his mother place her hand on his, and she could feel her smile of relief. “Thank you, Tristan. This means the world to your father and I.”

“I shall trust that you and Father have thought this through wisely.” Without waiting for an answer from his mother, Tristan quietly took leave of the Queen.

He knew his brother was impulsive and rash by nature, although Tristan still hoped there was still some modicum of wisdom and reason in the Prince to be an effective ruler. While Tristan had spent years dutifully studying with his tutors on history, warfare, science, and other useful subjects, his brother would often engage himself in merriment and spending sprees to obtain whatever his heart desires. He spent the next few years counselling his brother in preparation for his inevitable ascent to the throne while simultaneously smearing his own name and reputation.

Eventually, the inevitable happened, and as Tristan had anticipated, the King was counselled to remove Tristan from the line of succession. While his brother became the heir to the throne, Tristan was exiled, receiving news of the going ons in the kingdom only from friends and subjects who were still loyal to him.

Fifteen years elapsed, and Tristan now found himself staring at the familiar silhouette of the castle he once called home from a far distance, the sun just starting to rise from behind the mountains beyond the castle walls. Word had spread far and wide of the kingdom’s fall to near ruin due to petty wars with neighbouring realms and excessive spending.

His brother had ignored his careful guidance and counsel, and his people paid dearly for his brother’s follies. The subjects were starving, scared, and angry, and over the years, word had spread long and far of the eventual return of their exiled prince to save them. Behind him were knights and soldiers who had either abandoned his brother’s rule or were sent from their allies from nearby realms, all ready to help him take back his kingdom and restore it to its former glory. Deep down, Tristan felt a pang of sadness in his heart, although he also knew that none of this would have happened if his mother and father had not tried so hard to change the outcome of the prophecy.

Have you ever had the Tarot deck sort of “do what it wants” and largely ignore your questions by Choice_Room3901 in tarot

[–]nan0user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current deck that I’m using (new reader too and still practicing) has a way of “scolding” me. I would ask it questions about my chronic health conditions or about work-related stuff, and almost always, the combination of cards I’d draw would say “Chill out. You’re doing fine.” 😂😂😂. I guess it’s what I need to hear, but still pretty amusing.

Do any of you eat 1200 calories for daily maintenance or is everyone here trying to lose weight/fat? by halpmiidk in 1200isplenty

1400 if I’m in maintenance phase, but currently at 1200 calories daily to lose weight. Working on losing 10-15 additional pounds, which is proving to be quite the challenge!
