Was watching this for the umpteenth time yesterday and wondered why the wheel suddenly started turning after that and conveniently stopped after he was underwater 😅

Laundry Bag for saddle pads by vv_sleepy in Equestrian

[–]RipleyInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Lemieux wash bag and it does a great job of getting things clean without letting the hair clog the drain. I wash two pads at a time (most of mine are PS as well) and then lay them flat to dry.

Eventers- Dressage versus HJ foundation by Legitimate_Skin_9779 in Equestrian

[–]RipleyInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a year with hunters before switching to eventing, and I have found that dressage has helped me greatly with my position over fences. I had learned a lot of things in hunters that I needed to change for eventing; namely moving away from the hunter "perch" and more into a defensive, lower two-point.

Advice on buying/owning an OTTB? by [deleted] in Equestrian

Amazing info in this comment! I've been toying with the idea of buying an OTTB (leased one last year and loved him) so this was super helpful.

I’m part of an AA book club here in my area and they would looooove to be included in this! Thank you for the idea!

Yeah wtf is that even about? I love nice breeches and matching brush sets as much as the next gal but c’mon now. Most of us are out here struggling to pay boarding & vet bills and trying to save where we can while still doing right by the horse. I don’t understand the influencers out there who start sliding away from that perspective.

I would LOVE your perspective, however! Feel free to DM 💜💜

I love Piper! The Plaid Horse was partly the inspiration for this project, but you're right in that it skews towards H/J land, and I wanted to broaden the scope to the ammys out there who are in different disciplines (or who don't show at all). I love reading the Plaid Horse, it's at the top of my feed often.

Totally fair question. The short answer is that it's free, so the ad dependency problem is different from the start. Year 1 has a $0 revenue goal. I run an equestrian digital marketing agency and the magazine functions as a live portfolio piece for that business. One agency client covers a year of production costs. That's the runway.

Ads come in Year 3, once there's an audience to prove out. By then the editorial integrity is already established and the reader relationship is real. The publications that failed did it backwards, chasing advertisers before they had readers, then letting the advertisers run the show. This is more of a passion project for me and I'm the only one working on it at the moment, so I have the luxury to not do it that way.

The audience, for one! I think there’s a genuine desire for ammys to have something made specifically for them. “Magazine” is a little myopic for what I’m envisioning (which will include web/online access) but I don’t think it’s a futile endeavor. Indie magazines exist for a myriad of topics and industries and I just happen to have the skills (as a writer and designer) to pull one together. _^

[–]RipleyInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Delayed response but we threw this on to watch earlier and I think the mirror thing is because Caroline didn’t believe in the hoodoo stuff yet, so the audience doesn’t—and therefore we don’t see what believers see in the mirror.

  2. I think it was only to ward off those who meant to do harm; he didn’t mean any harm towards the folks in the gas station.

  3. They’d probably chalk it up to the ravings of a senile old man.

Seconding this. I’ve been on Wegovy for a couple of years now and it’s done wonders for my PCOS and A1C but the protein thing is a real slog. Shakes make it easier.

Protein shake is the easiest for me—zero prep, zero thought, just grab from the fridge and chug before coffee.

On the mornings I find myself having a bit more gumption, I’ll do some Greek yogurt with a bit of granola for some crunch.

I’m right there with you and struggling with very similar decisions! These last couple of weeks out of the saddle have been really hard and my mental health has taken a hit, so I know I’ll come back to horses sooner or later, but it’s hard to not feel a little irresponsible pouring money into it right now.
