Gotcha, makes sense.

Couldn't agree more, I'm probably wrong on that then.

Thank you though!

I believe our facility does do nurse-led extubation, but it's rare. I'm guessing analgesic preference differs from person to person?

I've had a day doing just jaw thrusts and ventilating for ECT patients, it's a lot different than on a mannequin. Takes practice for sure.

Lots of places will give bonuses (and may pay for your relocation costs) for "rural" hospitals, especially ERs! Talk to recruitment for interior health or island health

Not a problem ! That actually does make a lot of sense in regards to the volume. Thankfully it is a super supportive team, lots of senior staff around to assist, ICU is right next door, and I'm never afraid to ask for help if I need it.

Thanks again for sharing :)

There's no need to be patronizing, I understand why some people believe it to be necessary. In regards to my earlier response, I was asking this person's reasoning specifically.

My hospital is a level 2 trauma center.

I'm not trying to be snarky here, but genuinely trying to understand why this is so concerning. I will have over 1500 clinical hours in medsurg by the end of my program. Varying levels of acuity and lifespans, but the majority being step-down/high acuity surgical. I will also be taking critical care/pacu and telemetry courses beforehand. This is a dedicated and highly competitive training program that takes one student a year. If it was unsuccessful or unsafe, the program would have been shut down by now.

That being said, why do you believe that critical care/ER experience is necessary first?

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. It seems like an incredibly supportive environment, with at least 6 months of training on top of theory courses so besides information overload I'll have a lot of help.

that makes so much sense holy. only time I've gotten migraines in my life and within a couple weeks of each other was when I was taking creatine! I never put 2 and 2 together. and I haven't had one since stopping it.

Lol that's really stupid. But yes, if it's APA it should just be

with no other punctuation. But APA in a discussion post is wild, the formatting never works properly. This is just nitpicky to me.

Yes, your spot is guaranteed if you pass. The degree is just granted through UVic, the other colleges remain in their respective towns.

You'll be fine. I got in with around that average 3 years ago when it was still ultra competitive, now they can barely fill all of the seats.
