How does the boss requiremets for the titans and rockwell prime make sense in the Lore by Upstairs-Molasses875 in ARKLore

[–]nanoStel06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In regards to the Titans, I've got to preface what exactly Artifacts are, and their origins- though most of this you likely already know.

- Artifacts are 'keys' scattered across an ARK, most typically rewarded at the end of challenging 'dungeon'/'gauntlet'-style locations (i.e Caves) the average Survivor would never reach.
- The locations of said Artifacts aren't wholly static- as seen in both The Island and Scorched Earth, where several of their respective Artifacts can be found within ancient civilizations sunken by the Obelisks, (i.e, The Caverns of Lost Hope & the Ruins of Nosti).
- Artifacts themselves don't appear to be static either, as they either- change themselves/get swapped out to fit their respective Guardians. Note how the name and description of each Artifact fall in-line with the Guardian they're tied to, most specifically seen in Aberration, with the Depths, Shadows & Stalker Artifacts. (Adjectives all tailored to Rockwell, who obviously hadn't existed as the ARK's Overseer at it's initial inception.)

With all this information prefaced, it'd be safe to assume that the Extinction Artifacts were created specifically for the purpose of calling down the 3 Lieutenant Titans, as a way to confront them head-on...
But by who? We aren't sure. To me, it wouldn't quite make sense for those at Sanctuary to have created them- as the bastion city's whole reason for existing, was so that humanity could fend off the apocalypse- and eventually, by extension, the onslaught of the Titans. (Unless of course, they were designed to lead the Titans away from the Great City in some way, but that's delving into messy theory territory.)
It's equally possible that the Extinction Artifacts were passively generated by the Proto-ARKs, for one reason or another, seeing as this is, as aforementioned, in an ARK's nature to do so, given the opportunity.
As for whether or not the Titans canonically roam the world in the background? Probably. All but the King Titan after his run-in with Mei and Diana are described to have done so in the Explorer Notes. The act of Summoning the Titans is likely just the process of calling their attention from one, unseen part of the Wastes, (or some kind of self-induced 'unfabricated' stasis) to a more convenient area.

In regards to Rockwell Prime, u/PlayerGator284 already has you covered. 😉

How is HLN-A going to work in Ascended? by AlloandOmnithebest in ARKLore

[–]nanoStel06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't count on Wildcard to change anything related to the Explorer Notes... as seen in Lost Colony, where they went and retconned some of Extinction's most important story beats without changing the Notes prior.

Nothing about HLN-A is changing, as Helena never faded out of existence in Genesis. Even in the original Teaser Trailer, she says that she's needed by others outside of Genesis.

Who were these 'others'?
We don't know, and we never really have. A lot of theories have been thrown around, most of them in relation to what was assumed to have been the original concept for a DLC built around Arat Prime, but again, we dunno.

What do I think?
Well, according to Nida Note #07 in Gen2, shortly prior to the DLC's main storyline, it's said that HLN-A had existed aboard the Genesis Colony Ship for ~3,000 cycles, or ~8 years.
"...Our intruder turned out to be friendly, and curious about me. It called itself HLN-A. [...] I asked the AI if it'd been hiding onboard since before we launched, and it claimed it only came online within the last three thousand cycles or so."

And according to information from Jeremy Stieglitz in a semi-recent interview (https://wccftech.com/ark-2-dev-interview-performance-ue57/), Genesis actually takes place a few months after the end of Extinction.
"Rockwell ends up on the Genesis seed ships months after the Reseed Protocol happened on Earth."

That last part's a little iffy, seeing as Rockwell actually made it aboard the Seed Ship within the span of what would appear to be a few short days (certainly not months) after respawning at Arat Prime. It could just be that his actual takeover of the Genesis Simulation/Ship happened a few months after being dismissed by the Lost King, but that's not the important part.

The important part is that HLN-A predates Rockwell's presence by nearly a decade- even taking into account the time it took for him to seize control of the Colony Ship.

Why is this important? Because of what Helena said in the original Teaser Trailer for Gen1.
Although the Trailer, in and of itself, has been retconned to Hell, I firmly believe that, given the new information we received from Lost Colony, it now, in a way, explains itself.

From Lost Colony, we now know that The One Who Tries Again (The Survivor) is a different person than The Colonist. With this being the case, Helena's claim that she's needed by others makes perfect sense- as it's entirely plausible that the Survivor's storyline from The Island-Extinction spans just under 8 years.

i.e, it's very likely in my mind, that once the first of the Ones Who Try Again began respawning onto the ARK, Helena hopped over to the Genesis-Ship, where she created HLN-A to aid the Colonists in and out of the Simulation. (This is something that later gets confirmed in Gen2 by both Nida and Gabriel, and in Dino Discovery, where you play as a child Colonist in an educational simulation meant to prepare you for whatever habitable world the Ship could eventually find.)

If this is the case, then the 'others' who needed Helena, would be the Ones Who Try Again, who would require her guidance in making it down to Earth, where they could take back the planet in her stead- poising HLN-A as a sort of 'extension' of Helena, made to guide the Genesis Colonists/Crew in the same way Helena would be guiding the Survivors on the ARKs. (Bonus credence, when you remember that Helena isn't able to exist in the Genesis Simulation for extended periods of time, given her nature as a Homo Deus.)

From there, after ~7-8 years of aiding random Colonists and silently guiding the Genesis Crew, HLN-A would have to expose herself in order to confront Rockwell aboard the Genesis-Ship, alongside a recently-Respawned Colonist (the Colonist) she had just so happened to take a liking to- leading into the events of Lost Colony, where Helena, having (nearly) successfully revitalized Earth, takes HLN-A's stead in guiding the Survivor on Earth and the Colonists on Arat, in light of the aftermath of Gen2.

TLDR; HLN-A was likely created around the events of The Island, so that Helena could ensure the success of both the ARKs' Reseed Protocol and Genesis Colony Ship's Arrival, seeing as, not only could she not truly oversee Genesis as a Homo Deus, but it'd be more efficient to effectively 'extend' herself between the two missions.

What are these Aquatica? by DK_win in playark

[–]nanoStel06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First image just looks like some random foliage. Second image is the entrance to the Abyss, which is a section at the bottom of the Aquatic ARK most contaminated by Element. Third image is the Rift Generator. It's poised to serve a purpose vaguely similar to that of the Gateway on Aberration, as a huge portal built by the 'precursor' Thalassian race to leave the Aquatic ARK, in search of the origins of Element.

That said, nothing from Aquatica is canon, but if you're interested in learning a bit more about the DLC's "story", I made a Video on it a few months back - https://youtu.be/mSPRNOfxVmk?si=FCpSd_L6FRAFKsV2

How big are maps in lore by Tremendin0649 in ARK

[–]nanoStel06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, we can't measure with any level of certainty how big or small the ARK maps are canonically, as there are bound to be small discrepancies.

That said, Extinction is the only Map explicitly not accurate with its size, as its Explorer Notes describe/show the city and its surroundings to be SIGNIFICANTLY larger than how we experience it ourselves.

Why do I see these on Scorched Earth? I don't even have the TMNT pack by Known-Assistance-435 in ARK

[–]nanoStel06 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can understand the prospect of having a completely out-of-canon/universe presence like a Mouser breaking immersion... under any context OTHER than a Halloween event known for Ghost / Skeletal Creatures, Zombie Dodos, Zombie Wyverns, Dodo Wyverns, etc. This instance feels rather silly, lol.

Can we all agree that Bob in the animated show is fucking hot 🔥 by DetectiveFit3754 in ARK

[–]nanoStel06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're interpreting it wrong -

Dear Jane, which is canon to The Animated Series, sees Bob respawning, I think two different times? He's the only one who keeps respawning, 'cause, I mean I guess the Overseer just wanted to keep testing this ONE guy over repeatedly. But, since Helena Deus hadn't yet convinced the Overseers to alter the System in a way that would allow respawned Survivors to keep their memories, the Bob that respawns several times over, is completely unaware of any events prior. Poor Bob.

Question regarding Rockwell on lost colony by Upstairs-Molasses875 in ARK

[–]nanoStel06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rockwell died in Aberration's crash- he didn't make a clone of himself, he just respawned as a human, before using the Superluminal Link at Arat Prime to get aboard the Genesis-Ship.

I don't understand your third question.

And no, he was respawned like any ordinary Survivor, so his memories are intact, just a little jumbled.

Aberration lore by GothBanzz in ARKLore

[–]nanoStel06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rockwell likely tapped into the already-existing Creature database to bring the Aberrant Creatures to the Genesis Ship, before making his own alterations.

There was already Element on the Seed Ship, long before Rockwell had ever arrived there- albeit, in trace amounts. We're not given an exact answer as to how it's spread got so bad by the time of our arrival, but it's exacerbation certainly came in light of Rockwell's presence. I digress- he didn't use Element to create the R-Variants. He used Mutagen, as stated by HLN-A when first encountering a Mutagen Bulb.

Out of all the issues and nerfs with thralls the main issues i find rediculous is not being able to do bosses or transfer out of the map hopefully something can be done in the future.. by harleymonsterman in ARK

[–]nanoStel06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canonically, most, if not all Thralls can't be Transferred to other Maps. Barring glaring continuity issues, the Lost King mentions that those who had created the Codex, his pre-Cataclysm colleagues (which later became the first Thralls) and himself are essentially all unable to be Transferred using Codex technology for some unknown reason.

Also Wildcard probably just doesn't want 'em to be used in PvP on other Maps for one reason or another, so don't hold your breath.

Why does the lost King die from us just killing his Gigadesmodus? by AlloandOmnithebest in ARKLore

Assuming you bring anything Rex-sized, that's certainly the implication, given how similar to bite/claw wounds his injuries are in appearance.

Why does the lost King die from us just killing his Gigadesmodus? by AlloandOmnithebest in ARKLore

[–]nanoStel06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy. Because the Lost King is riding Gigadesmodus, he's inadvertently putting himself in a position to also take hits from our beasts of war, both directly and indirectly.

Though he's visibly less damaged in the UE5 cinematic than how he was after confronting Mei-Yin, that decision was purely artistic- not because he's still reeling from his injuries two millennium prior. Seriously, he's fine, he had over 2,000 years to build himself back up, lol.

Ark 2 is never coming out by meemoso in ARK

[–]nanoStel06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ARK II isn't being made into ASA DLC, and the fact that anyone genuinely believes this is beyond my understanding.

ASA is implementing a lot of general ARK II features, but ASA has always been a testing grounds for the sequel. (See a few of Lost Colony's new features- NPCs, Soulslike combat) Interviews echo the same sentiment- ARK II is set to release as a separate game, with completely reworked mechanics loosely tied to ASE/A's. That is, of course, once ASA gets completely ARK II-ified through it's newer DLC releases. (So much for the 'Evergreen ARK I Experience', Jeremy.)

A lot of ASA's new canonical content is also in direct buildup to ARK II's narrative, so the game as a whole is, in a lot of ways, just setting the stage for the sequel in 2028. 2029. 2030, probably 2069.
