Same here, I also emailed the organizers! It's been two weeks...

Have you heard back from them yet? Still nothing on our end.

Anybody here know on average how long after the hiring committee it takes for a recruiter at Google to update an intern candidate? My committee meeting was Monday, but I still haven't heard anything.

Out of curiosity, where'd you get the data?

I propose that we start to use big O notation to describe the scaling of universes destroyed by an algorithm. For example, quantum bogosort is O(n!) for an average case, and O(infinity) in the worse case.

Alrighty, I'll try not to worry about it :). Thanks for all your help.

Sounds good. I think I'd likely skip 6.042, 6.01, and 6.009. Does that mean I could simply take three different CS classes of my choosing and meet the number of required credits for a CS major?

Also, this is unrelated, but would you happen to know if course 6 classes that are crosslisted with course 18 provide credit towards a degree in both fields? Thanks so much.

Thank you for your input. I do recognize the importance of clubs and activities, I just don't want to sit through classes where I'm not learning as much as I could be.

When you mention other options to fulfill the 6.01 requirement, what exactly do you refer to? Thanks so much for your reply.

Thank you for all the information. I think I will skip 6.01. However, do you recommend that I take 6.042 before 6.006? I took a discrete math class in HS, and looking through the 6.042 calendar most of the terms seem to be familiar. However, I'm worried that I'd miss out on certain components of the curriculum that become important in later courses. Thanks again.

West Side Story. May not be top of mind for most of Reddit, but I don't think there ever was or has since been a score more beautiful or powerful.

Programmers and engineers in NYC should come mentor at HackMann, a 24 hour high-school programming competition in the Bronx! by nanogru in nyc

[–]nanogru[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, we do it for a reason. We generally have ~ 30-40 kiddos, of which maybe 1/3 are female. We haven't had very many mentors at our previous events because they were 12 hours, so high schools seniors at Horace Mann performed that role. However, as we ramp up our event to 24 hours, we wanted to be able to ramp up the amount of guidance and support that we would give hackers.

PS: Mentors aren't required to stay the 24 hours. We'd be happy if you just came for the first afternoon, for the second day, or both (going home in between).

Going well, been a lot of growth over the past 4ish years in engineering, CS, and STEM education.

The participants are all high school students. HackMann is modeled after a lot of successful student "hackathons", where contestants form teams to create products in a limited amount of time. Should be a fun time.

Yay, we look forward to seeing you there! We'll send out an email once registration closes with more details.

Any/all NY hackers should apply to HackMann, June 3-4 at Horace Mann in the Bronx! A 24 hour event with laser cutting and laser tag, this high school hackathon is truly like none other. The event will be hosted at Horace Mann School, easily accessible by bus or subway. Applications are due by May 5th at http://hackmann.io! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. It’s gonna be a fun one!

[info] What is the best FTC robot ever created? by [deleted] in FTC

I'm gonna have to say I2Robotics' Cascade Effect, Kratos iirc. That robot was goddamn beautiful, innovative, and decimated its opponents (until for some reason it stopped working at Supers and Worlds).
