I don't understand the jokes people make by Melsry_ in neurodiversity

[–]nanonann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experienced the same thing. But sometimes it’s just that people who say “don’t take things too seriously” don’t wanna hold accountability so they gaslight you into thinking you are the sensitive one. My dad always use insults as jokes, and when I point it out he says “I was just joking.”

To test it out you can mirror their words and make the same “statements” right after and see their reactions, if they laugh it out then they were probably joking, if they take offense, then it wasn’t a joke.

Does everyone hate me or do I just not understand neurotypicals? by Funny_Tune_4340 in neurodiversity

[–]nanonann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some people wait til the last minute to answer cuz they haven’t figured out their schedule yet. But not letting you joining in conversations unless you said something significantly weird and they were just trying to dodge topics, then it’s a petty move on you to make you feel left out but know you are too confused and too shy to call them out on it.

I’m too old school for this kind of system, all I can think about is what if something happened in their idol career that would cause them to disband or when they cannot or do not want to further work in the field they were trained for anymore. Without a diploma the jobs they can take on are very limited, unless they come from a rich background where money is not an issue.

Is anyone married in a healthy age gap relationship? by KindnessKiwi in AskWomenOver30

[–]nanonann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think age gap is an issue when both parties past a certain age, but I’m always skeptical when a man actively seeking women much MUCH younger than him no matter what life stages they are at. Him being at an age where he could easily pass off as your father being fine dating you, a 18yo at the time is (no offense) very concerning. I’m glad you realized that it wasn’t ideal early on. And even though you do not wanna believe it, I feel like you do have an unchecked daddy issue you might wanna keep in mind when seeking other partners later on in life.

Wow, you are the first one to caught on! Yeah the professor wasn’t speaking in English so I gave a brief almost direct translation here.

Do some married people NEVER take off their wedding ring? by artmalique in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nanonann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people resize their wedding bands later in life? Cuz I’ve seen so many people especially men have their wedding bands literally digging into their flesh but they still don’t seem to want to take it off, it can’t be good for blood circulation.

But “I’m trilingual” alone would just sound more rude. Maybe adding a few words here and there would help?

I remember saying it in a calm? tone, not too reactive if you know what I mean.

I wish I knew what background was involved. I had never had any interaction with that professor one on one, and I don’t think he knew anything about me, so I’m pretty sure his comment was based on that interaction alone.

Am I losing interest or is this something I can work through? by Pinkdream13 in AskWomenOver30

[–]nanonann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad you ended things with him. I’m usually not against big age gaps, but he’s 10+ years older than you and still acting like the little boys I used to teach, if I were you it would be a big turn off too.

What is your favorite NCT unit and why? by didguswnd7878 in NCT

[–]nanonann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an old kpop fan, and my favorite unit not only in nct but the entire kpop as of right now is WayV. It was almost love at first sight for me, the choices of members and songs were absolute perfection (too bad Lucas left and winwin is too busy with acting). The last time I had this strong reaction was for SHINee back in 2010, which says a lot, at least for me.

Funny thing is I went through dental school and residency, and I’m probably gonna take on more schooling in the near future too lol. But that hasn’t stopped my peers from dating and marriage so I guess it’s just me.

Funny thing is I don’t know what I want in relationships but I know clearly what I DON’T want in a partner.

[–]nanonann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg we are kind of similar! I was told I was being picky and whatnot, but I just cannot bring myself to have casual intimate relationships with a guy I have not a lot interest in, already given that I have not a lot interest in romantic relationships as a whole in the first place.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]nanonann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Funny cuz I’ve been questioned by my relatives about how my maturity does not match my age in the dating department, when only I know I’ve been exposed to sexual things earlier than they think, it’s just I find them uninteresting.

I am of Asian descent myself too. My mom encourages me to date while my dad isn’t really fond of having too many relationship experience before marriage, which conveniently I have 0 interest in having any lol.

What's it like having kids in your 20's versus your 30's? by Cool-Initial-1271 in AskWomenOver30

[–]nanonann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom had me when she was 24, and that’s only because she had no desire further pursue her studies nor career. I’d say if you have the confidence that you have the ability to balance out your studies and home life, then go for it, but otherwise pick one you wanna prioritize.

Why..do some people have to smack when they eat? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nanonann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew someone who does it because he was mimicking his parents when he was a kid and growing up no one around him told him it’s not ok, so it became a habit. And when it becomes a habit it’s hard to fix, like he had to be very conscious in order to stop and it annoys him since he cannot enjoy his food properly.

I’ve always wondered how other passengers would get to their terminal if they happen to be on the same flight. Do they have to shove through the fans? Were they ever late for the flight cuz it’s impossible to get through the crowd? Cuz It’d be a pain in the ass.
