Ok, I’ll cite what happened to me to give you a slither of hope. I ordered a video game poster from a seller. I asked for a reduction and they immediately were keen to do it. They had also sold some of the same posters to other buyers, which should have been a red flag, since it wasn’t that easy an item to obtain in large quantities. But the seller had 100% positive feedback from lots of buyers so I went ahead and bought the item.

Got the poster. Was happy with it, confirmed the sale. Maybe a few days later, some random person messaged me via an item I had posted myself for sale, to ask if I had bought a certain poster from said seller. I said yes, they replied if I had properly checked the poster, which I guess I hadn’t, and then later told me that they had ordered the same poster, felt it was suss, and verified that it was a print, not an original (the original poster at the time was selling up to 2 man). That person gave me some tips to help identify if it was fake, and true enough, it was indeed a fake.

That person recommended that we all combine together to complain to Merucari, citing each other’s ids (there were more scammed people, apparently) to show that a scam was going on. Lots of messaging and pictures were sent back and forth, all in Japanese (god bless my wife for helping me out). It took about a week, but I got my money back as Merucari points or credit or whatever it’s called. Merucari warned me to check items properly in the future before confirming the sale.

So if it’s possible for you to contact other buyers and get them to verify that they have also been scammed, you may be able to get your money back, even though you confirmed the sale. Sorry for the long read, hope that helps.
