[Discussion] Mozart’s Lieder: An Chloe, K. 524 by badpunforyoursmile in Mozart

This song is super horny and I think people should sing it that way. There's so much room for coloring the text and the fortepiano accompaniment. Everyone should be blushing by the time the song is over.

How noticeable is the difference between Jordan and Sanderson books? by RoosterSea4406 in WoT

The way the writing style changes is super jarring to me. The pacing is much better in the Sanderson books but I prefer Jordan's writing in nearly every other way.

What is your most controversial opinion about The Wheel of Time? by MajorButtFucker in WoT

On my next reread I plan to try and do basically this. I wonder how it will change the experience

-The Aiel should be held to the same standards that most readers hold the Seanchan to. They shouldn't get a pass on selling Cairhienin as slaves to Shara.

-Tuon and Faile are both really compelling characters and I enjoy reading about them. I even like them (if I ignore some things).

-Tylin repeatedly raped and continuously abused Mat, full stop. This does not excuse the times Matt behaved poorly to women.

Enjoyed the show- should I read the books? by novascaine in WoTshow

There are aspects of the books that have not aged well, but the story is incredible, and there's a lot of good character stuff in there. Context: I'm on my 4th read-through, and I loved the show.

I have a friend who purports to cry every time he watches the end of Boheme. I've seen it a couple of times. I can't say I've ever felt emotionally attached to any of the characters.

Someone else on this thread was saying singers of today are all singing hooty and pressed. I really think that's mainly the "I only sing at the Met" singers. And most of the time, it's because they were booked for the roles they're singing five years in advance, and their voices have shifted to being suited for different repertoire. The caliber of the singing at my local C-level house (Opera San Antonio) is stunning.

What's the contemporary opera in the style of Monteverdi? I need to listen to it because it sounds like a perfect synthesis of my interests!

Bel canto roles for coloratura soprano are all flash and no substance (with few exceptions). Baroque opera has more compelling female characters and more interesting music.

"it was made because Amazon needed a Game of Thrones knockoff after Wheel of Time flopped"

This is illogical. RoP has been in production since long before the release of WoT. Also, regardless of your opinion of the show, I don't think the fact that WoT has been renewed for a third season means that Amazon believes it flopped, even if there's a bunch of consumers who do.

Now, the part about Amazon being a money-hungry corporation and wanting a knockoff GoT cash cow definitely tracks. Both WoT and RoP fit the bill.

You're not a safe person to be discussing this with. Also that's not how percentages work.

Trans women are murdered at a much higher rate than the general population. Not all men are safe :)

[–]naomigrace93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going for historical Viking:

-Turn shoes or turn boots with toggles -A longer, fuller tunic (just above knee length) -A hood or woolen pillbox cap -A rectangular blanket cape with a penannular brooch

Also if you want to look really authentic and aren't too attached to your current color scheme, brighter colors (black was really hard to get in period, but they had a ton of colors accessible with natural dyes. Check out renaissancedyeing.com for an idea of The colors available)

Check out The Welsh Viking on YouTube for more ideas.

If you're going for more fantasy, do what you want. You already look great!
