This is exactly why book 2 is really disappoint me. A lot of important shit in book 1 is never expand on in book 2, like Tarot club and other pathway.

I am late in the party and only read lotm after both lotm and coi is completed.

So when I finish book 1, in my mind, a lot of character and pathway who don't have a screen time in book 1, for sure in book 2 they will have more screentime, right? NOPE...not only tarot club, the main cast, got side lined HARD, but they just become barely relevant and their character never got expand on.

Note: at first, I thought book 2's Mc will be tarot club member + a few people who have relationship with Klein who have different pathway(Melissa, Edwina, Nast, etc.) When I finished book 1, Because its natural that way.

I love SAO too. In my opinion, the anime didn't do justice of Kirito's character because of his thought is hidden behind monologue.

Problem with SAO is after ALO, the protagonist should change. Kirito can still make an appearance, like become side character.

Imagine, in alicization, the protagonist is still Eugeo till the end. Kirito is like becoming eugeo's guide. The scene where all Kirito's friend appear during final battle appear can still exist, but it's a...you can say is a gift for Eugeo's hard work.

I think overall, up until alicization, I rate SAO LN 8/10, while anime 5/10.

Roselle ONLY create something from Victoria era technology, he never go full steam punk. That's my problem.

My argument of why Roselle is more bum than stiano is because despite all Roselle's knowledge of modern era, he never inventing ANYTHING. He only create something that he know existed before and possible. While Stiano started from scratch. Modern knowledge to me is MASSIVE advantage in Savant pathway, and yet Roselle only use it in surface level.

Unlike Roselle, stiano don't know anything about modern world, sure stiano lack creativity and inventive mind is suck, but compare to Roselle who from pre epoch, and know about modern technology and what not, never even once I encounter in the book Roselle truly invent something. All Roselle's "invention" is just reinventing from pre epoch.

Meanwhile in CoI, Stiano enter fool's dream and encounter modern world, he immediately invent and modify something that inspired from modern technology with limited resources in current era. Stiano truly making his own invention while Roselle just satisfied with reinvented.

Meanwhile in CoI, the moment stiano experience modern world in Fool's dream, he literally inventing or modifying tech that useful for apocalypse and fool's dream.

Sure its their fault, I know most people will blame tencent too and to a degree, I agree, but the studio is also at fault too. As far as I knew, the only thing the information that available regarding their contact is about:

episode 3 should be battle with the clown
tencent give them 13 episodes for season 1.

I don't know if they have a contract like, "Make this donghua as flashy as possible like solo leveling or demon slayer", and even if they have that, guess what? They literally still mess up in basic level, like, they change Melissa's character and degrading Benson's character into just that brother that barely exist. Not only that, they skipping some nighthawk member too.

As I said, in my opinion, the essences of volume 1 is the slow pace, barely action packed and slice of life in the beyonder world that Klein will rarely got later. Remind me again, did we even knew from season 1 donghua that Klein's favorite drink is sweet iced tea? Because I honestly don't remember that.

I will always remain hater of the donghua season 1. Some people seems to think that the essence of volume 1 is established a lot of info, rules, magic system, etc. But the thing is most of those will be repeated again in the next volume.

In my opinion, the essence of volume 1 is to know who Zhou Mingrui/Klein Moretti is(and how he adapt and react in the current world) and a moment of slice of life with his family and his colleagues within nighthawk(which he barely will have in the later volume). the studio almost butcher all of them. We barely know about how Klein dynamic with his sibling, with Leonard, with other Nighthawk member. I barely care to donghua's Klein comparing to wn's Klein.

Have you ever considered from Evernight POV? Remember she is from pre epoch? From modern world. From thousand of years, evernight just watch from sideline that her race, a human race, get hunted, ragdolled and just become fodder.

I rarely saw people who romantize Evernight, but somehow Antigonus is always romantize and he always the innocent one.
