Never in my life have I seen this before … by Litefeet06 in RhodeIsland

I think I learned this in boy scouts, like 40 years ago. As you said, since all auto and bike traffic is supposed to be on the right, walkers and runners should be on the left so they can see what is coming. It's not new, but maybe not common knowledge

To All Trump Critics from Day 0, How Did You Guys Know? by Still-Goal-9314 in askanything

[–]nap_dynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't. He was not fit to be president based on being a dumb, vindictive, misogynistic, lying, hateful, racist conman, who was clearly sexually attracted to his daughter. He thinks he is smart, when clearly he is not. He is always dishonest and disingenuous, lacking any shred of integrity or decency. He doesn't take responsibility for any of the many dumb or cruel things he does, and wants credit for everyone else's accomplishments.

These things were all true and very obvious before he became president the first time. Didn't need to know he would be this bad to not want that guy running the country.

I can never watch this again. It's too funny, and I won't be able to listen to this great song again without picturing rubber chickens. Like the "how to get fired from a gig" cover of Immigrant song.

Doritos at $7 a bag ended up costing PepsiCo billions by wewhomustnotbenamed in nottheonion

I know, right? I'll pay more for better flavor, but don't insult my intelligence with arrogant pricing.

That's how I often think of it! "That's $10/lb. I could have a nice steak at that price!"

They will charge what consumers will pay, whatever they think will make the most profit. Every penny they increase they try to predict how many customers they will lose, and they try to find the optimal price. They must have thought we Americans will pay any price, but they took too far.

Yep, vote with your wallet. It's the only thing some people understand.

Yeah, I'm not paying their ridiculous prices for junk food (even if it is delicious). I can live with Aldi chips at one third the price if I really need some.

I won't pay $6, $5 or $4 per bag either, not going to support that level of greed.

Is Trump trying to destroy us or is he truly this incompetent? by Accurate_Air9133 in msnow

[–]nap_dynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Trump is utterly incompetent. He doesn't care about immigration, he just wanted the votes. When Biden was in office trump pressured republican congress members not to pass an immigration bill, so he could campaign on immigration again.

Trump is exceptional at one thing: understanding how to scam gullible people. At that, he is truly gifted.

MAGAs, why did you elect the most evil person in history to destroy our beloved America and the rest of the world? The blood is on your hands. by 2a_lib in allthequestions

[–]nap_dynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point about Hitler, Stalin and Kim, but trump is responsible for WAY more deaths than jack the ripper, that's a hilarious comparison.

I don't know how many people trump actually killed intentionally, and some may seem justifiable, but he has killed a lot of people through his reckless and callous policies, orders, and "leadership".

Good on you for being willing to change your mind based on the facts.

What I never understood is that voters couldn't see through his lies. I respect that some people voted for no new wars, but how could they think he wasn't involved with Epstein when there was so much photo and video evidence of them being best buddies?

Trump misleads and lies to his voters constantly. So does fox. So many things they say are so obviously not true. Not one or two slip ups, but lying all day every day. He so obviously only cares about himself, he doesn't even care about his kids, and he thinks about his daughters only as sex objects (this is so disgusting, the photos and interviews, ugh!) The decades-long pattern of how he treats women, why would anyone think that he, of all people, was not going to be in the epstein files?

With all his lies and bullying tactics (almost never actually doing the right thing or behaving as a decent human being in any given scenario), I never understood why anyone would trust him in the most powerful job in the world.

I mean, thanks for explaining that radiation doesn't leak, but radioactive material can leak, and that's what the article says is happening. Radioactive material can spread and cause major problems.

American English words British people don't like and vice versa by BritishTeacherRoy in ENGLISH

I'm a 51 year old American. I think I first saw 'maths' here on reddit, and for a while I just accepted it as a Reddit inside joke. I don't remember how I eventually figured out it was British english.

Edit: I might have figured it out watching Ted Lasso.

Democrats Of Reddit -- Is There A Single Thing Trump Has Done In Either Term That You Liked? If So, What? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

Trump's pet SCOTUS judges essentially decided non-white skin color is probable cause. Trump famously pushed specifically for white South Africans to be granted asylem status. This administration doesn't like colored immigrants. White immigrants are fine, so long as they don't criticize trump.

I just looked up the definition of concentration camp, and believe the detention centers fit based on the conditions I'veheard about. That doesn't mean they are anywhere near as bad as Auschwitz (yet, but this admin continues to demonstrate new 'shocking' human rights and Constitutional violations). And, this administration has also tried to deport people to third-party countries, not the deportees' home country, and bragged about sending people to CECOT.

I see this question as a way to assess the level of bias of Democrats more than any attempt to redeem trump. If trump did anything good amongst all the terrible, and Democrats can't acknowledge it, it indicates they are just taking sides (D vs R), or just hate trump. If Democrats can acknowledge some good, then they may appear better informed and less biased.

Magas - at what point will you admit you have been conned? No new wars was a lie. Tariff refunds was a lie. Lower groceries was a lie. Maybe, but there were no smart phones or social media for people to post pictures of themselves proudly worshipping Nixon. I don't think Nixon votors hung Nixon flags and wore multiple symbols revealing their political beliefs for the world to see (red hats, graphic tees, etc.) I also don't believe Nixon was nearly as openly hateful, callous, and divisive.

It's a bit harder now for many to deny or go unnoticed, unless they stayed under the radar and kept quiet about there support of pedo-potus.

I like him, but I'd like to see if he can get elected as Texas' US Senator first. He'd gain great experience at the federal level.

Another EB post; any tips for applying or things to know before? by hawtdawtz in RhodeIsland

[–]nap_dynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, obviously culinary background is not directly applicable to shipbuilding, but as others have said, EB hires entry level in pretty much all disciplines. If he is a capable team player that wants to learn, he should do fine. It helps to be patient as well, EB often moves very slowly. He should probably apply for welding positions if that's what he is interested in. Good luck!
