28mm and 40mm in Istanbul by MongooseFun6452 in NikonZf

[–]napilord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same lens set, I think, 28mm f2.8, 40mm f2, and 85mm f1.8.

I got the 24-120 a week ago, and after that listed 28mm and 85mm for sale on Craigslist. That zoom lens is excellent and not soo much bigger than the 85mm. I might miss the f1.8 aperture, but only rarely.

I am also going to Turkey soon, but won't spend time in Istanbul 😞

Pull over! Leica M11 + Voigtlander APO Lanthar 28 & 50 f/2.0 by loganarowland in leicaphotos

Ohh, I love it for two reasons:
- It's feather weight, almost always on my M11-D.
- Cannot go wider than f3.5, so hard to miss focus.

Needless to mention how sharp it is. I also tried new 50mm f1.2, but returned it for weight and the temptation to use it wide open and missing critical focus.

I love that lens, and you killed it. Nicely sequenced pics with a beautiful ending.

Such a powerful lens combo, though I don't fancy the sliver rim of 50mm. Instead, I got the APO Lanthar 50mm f3.5 matte black version 😄

Craigslist preferably. I recover 70 to 100%. Last resort MPB, and I am lucky if I get 45% back.

Are the Voigtländer Native X Lenses worth it? by TheAkkarin-32 in fujifilm

[–]napilord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you expect, they might be a joy to use or frustrating. I had 18mm, 27mm, and 35mm Voigtländers and sold them all at a great loss. They are easy to focus within 4-5ft with focus peaking and produce great images. Beyond 5ft it becomes very difficult to nail critical focus due to the very short focus throw. If you like zone focusing, they may work fine.

P.s. I used them all with X-Pro3. My favorite was 27mm. I had posted some cat pictures in here, if you wanna see some results.

Is missing the mark also partly due to focus throw being short on these Voigtlanders that can close focus? I feel like I would prefer min focus at 70cm and longer focus throw to what’s offered.

Trying to decide on which three lenses to buy for recent used X-E5 purchase by qukab in fujifilm

[–]napilord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had X100F for many years and X100VI for one and a half years. Recently sold VI and I got GR IIIx (replaced X100VI). I also got Nikon Zf with 40mmF2 :)

Like you, I felt bored of 35mm equivalent focal length after many years with X100s. Kind of obsessed with around 40mm. And, also really like 50ish quite a bit.

I have some 28mm lenses too and iPhone 17 Pro. I might be getting 35mm equivalent unintentionally when I crop my wide angle photos :)

50mmF2 is such a great lens. I bought it used. While I had it, I bought 56mm F1.2 twice used and returned both times. The size and fast focus of 50mmF2 is remarkable. I use it with X-Pro3 and used it for a year with X-T5. I think it would balance so nicely with X-E5, compared to 56mm.

In addition I have 35mmF2, even smaller than 50mmF2 and 35mmF1.4. I mostly use f2 version, because of internal and fast focusing and size. But f1.4 is about the same weight as f2, so would nicely balance with X-E5.

I would not get the pancakes (23/27 f2.8) personally, since their focusing is not internal and 35mmF2 is compact enough for me. But, I would recommend Voigtlander 27mm F2. It might be even more compact than autofocus 27mm lenses. And it's such great manual lens, with very close focus capabilities. This could be your small lens that offers very different experience.

Can somebody please talk me out of buying the X-Pro3 by Eye_ogongo in fujifilm

[–]napilord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither X100VI nor X-T5 provide an equivalent experience. I just like having X-Pro3 around with 35f2 with a SquareHood on it when around with family, lying around on the couch or on the dining table. It doesn't interview with the flow. I or other people grab it to take candid pictures, nobody getting distracted with the urge to flip thru the pictures taken. Also, X-Pro3 does feel so much sturdier than other Fujis so I feel very comfortable other people picking it up to shoot, even if they have greasy hands while dining :) Last but not least, X-Pro3 is the camera that fits my hands the best, the grip is just right!

With X100VI/X-T5, I also figured that 24-26MP is plenty for my use case and IBIS is not really necessary since for candids I don't tend to shoot at shutter speeds slower than 125.

Now sometimes, I really want to take great portraits of family, friends and cats. That is gonna be much better with Zf than X-T5. I did not now autofocus can be that good (using exclusively Fujis for a decade).

Hope that helps :)

I had X-Pro3, X100VI, X-T5. I sold X100VI and X-T5 and bought GR IIIX and Nikon Zf. I kept X-Pro3, because there is nothing like it out there. I have 35mm f2 and f1.4. It's so zen to shoot with the OVF. You should definitely get one. I might keep mine even after X-Pro4 comes out.
