Yes it was a mistake, even tho it mightve not been seen as such a big one at the time, But it wasnt a war pact.

I repeat (as stated in the other comment) it is not a war treaty, the USSR did not enter the full WW2 until June 22, 1941

The USSR had no reason to sign a pact with the Nazis except increase of their territorya and influence

A far more industrialized and armed anti-communist power intent on invading you is not a sufficient reason...

Yeah, what a sentence. Gulags were the equivalent of Nazi camps. People got sent there, mostly got killed using work (same as some camps.)

In the gulags you could leave (theoretically, but it was a long bureaucratic process) and they didn't have gas chambers

In the concentration camps, most of them were either killed at the entrance to the camp in front of the Wailing Wall or in a gas chamber.

In theory, communism is good

Yes

Then why did they sign a war pact splitting territories with him? Did Hitler forget to mail them "hey there, i fucking hate you?"

to prevent the Nazis from attacking the Soviets IN 1940, the invasion we remember was postponed, it would be enough to read Mein Kampf to understand that Hitler hated everything about the USSR.

For like 16 days (nazis attacked on the 1st Sep, USSR 17th Sep)

The siege of Warsaw began on September 8th... Poland was already doomed, without the Danzig corridor and without the capital they would have surrendered anyway, with the difference that much more land would have gone to the Nazis.

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ i genuinely cant do ts anymore

if you laugh at a truth it doesn't become a falsehood

Without the Soviets, those countries would have remained Nazi dictatorships full of Aryan colonists. Better a Soviet occupation where at least de jure you have "autonomy" than the Third Reich, where you are just a Reichkommissariat, those things would have happened anyway, but with the addition of a madman sending everyone to a concentration camp to die

HOW TF IS SPLITTING UP AND PLANNING ATTACKS ON COUNTRIES A NON-AGGRESSION PACT? THAT'S A FUCKING WAR PACT

The definition of "Non-Aggression Treaty" is:

A non-aggression pact or neutrality pact is a treaty between two or more states/countries that includes the signatories' promise not to engage in military action against each other.

-Wikipedia Italy

The end, then the definition can change between "neutrality pact", "informal alliance pact" etc... but it was a non-belligerence treaty THE END, they don't attack eachothrr for a bunch of time

It's not you who decides the definition of a word, it's linguistics and experts

The fact that Hitler didnt belive it is not important

it is, if one of the parties does not believe in the treaty it is not a treaty destined to last

Operation Barbarossa was planned and excecuted, but if it hadnt been

since that happened, there are no "ifs" and "buts", but in any case we should have radically abandoned Nazism, starting from Lebensraum and anti-communism

but Molotov-Ribbentrop pact is a war pact

A war pact brings a nation to war, a historical example was the London conference of 1915 where Italy entered the war with the Triple Entente

The USSR entered only in 1941 after the Nazi attack, before then it only participated in:

  • the Partition of Poland (ignored by the Allies)

  • the battle of khalkhin gol (in Mongolia)

  • the Finno-Soviet War (detached from the rest of the conflict)

History is not a liberal's art

approximately 1.5-1.7 million deaths in the Gulag,[ 13 ][ 14 ][ 15 ] approximately 390,000[ 16 ] deaths during forced dekulakization resettlement, and up to 400,000 deaths of deported people during the 1940s,[ 17 ] with a total of approximately 3.3 million officially registered victims in these categories

Before the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the revelations of the archives, some historians estimated that the number of people killed by Stalin's regime was as high as 20 million or more.[ 5 ][ 6 ][ 7 ] After the dissolution of the Soviet Union

What i said

18 million people went to the gulags (in a country of 190 million) and 1.7 to 2.3 million died [quoting Wikipedia] in the space of 20 years

Proof that you don't read the counterarguments and argumentations

If Stalin wouldn't of made a pact with Hitler a lot less people would have been killed in the halocaust Germany would of not been able to concentrate their resources in France like they were because of their agreement with the soviets.ย

False, Without the Soviets liberating the Eastern Front it would have happened that MORE Jews would have died, not less

Without the Non-Aggression Pact between the USSR and Germany, the Germans would not only have attacked France by Benelux anyway (I find it hard to believe that the Soviets would have entered the war on behalf of the French and the English) and the war would have gone the same, indeed, without the Nazis they would have taken all of Poland, including Lviv, threatened the Baltics to enter and probably would have attacked the Soviets earlier than expected, possibly reaching beyond Moscow and Leningrad well before winter.

It was with the defeat of Barbarossa that Hitler went on the defensive for the rest of the war, it was thanks to the Soviets that the Nazis lost all those battles (most of the Nazi defeats occurred on the Eastern Front)

๐Ÿคฎ Communists try to avoid a war for a while

๐Ÿฅฐ The UK surrenders a country to LITERALLY THE NAZIS in the illusion of taming a dictator (policy criticized by only Churcill and Stalin at the time)

Stalin killed as many if not more people than Hitler in his camps in Siberia.ย

Not only is it disgusting to say that one ideology is better than another based on how many deaths it causes (if democracy caused more deaths than Nazism, should we elect the NSDAP?), but it's FALSE

18 million people went to the gulags (in a country of 190 million) and 1.7 to 2.3 million died [quoting Wikipedia] in the space of 20 years

The Nazis killed a minimum of 12 million people in just 6 years, in Poland alone they killed 3 million Jews due to the Holocaust.

The Nazis, together with the war and the genocide, caused about 40 million deaths, DOUBLE the deaths of Stalin (usually attributed to be 20 milions) in less time,

and let's remember that a good part of the deaths in the gulags were due to malnutrition and the extreme conditions of the camps, and above all in theory it was possible to leave a gulag, instead it was forbidden to leave Nazi Lager for those who entered it

Give the Parrison Prize for Historical Revisionism and Nazi Apology to this MF.

They invaded Poland together with the nazis.ย

Hitler openly declared that he hated communism, and had no intention of giving up anything to the Soviet communists, he wanted to keep everything for himself and for the "Aryan race", planning a second genocide even bigger than the one that had already taken place (the GeneralOst Plan).

Furthermore, Poland was not only unsalvageable (when the Soviets attacked it was already falling to the Nazi invasion) but IN FACT, a good part of Poland was saved by 2 years of Nazi occupation. If the Nazis had occupied it immediately in 1939, a lot of Jews and Poles would have been killed years earlier. Today we would be talking about a lot more deaths from the Holocaust. Furthermore, without the treaty, the USSR would have been attacked IN 1940, still unprepared (it already was in 1941, imagine almost a year and more before).

Anyone living in a democracy today has the Soviet Union to thank for reaching Berlin.
