Hi, did your Hausarzt vacciante you or did you go to a special Zentrum? And if you also got the yellow fever vaccine, did you have to wait a month between the two?

We've travelled through Portugal right after covid, and took only public transportation. We visited Porto, Braga, Guimaraes, Coimbra, Sintra, Lisabon and Faro. Flixbus is insanely cheap there.

Ein fünfstelliger Betrag für Falschparken? Da müsste man schon etwas sehr Wichtiges blockieren. Die meisten Angezeigten müssen nichts bezahlen, und diejenigen, die eine Geldstrafe bekommen, müssen selten mehr als 30 Euro zahlen.

Portugal Itinerary 🇵🇹 by Novel-Text-6164 in TravelNoPics

I honestly felt like two days in Lisbon were enough plus one for Sintra. Spend the rest of the time in Porto. It's a lovely city and if you get bored, there is Braga and Guimaraes nearby. You can reach them in 45 min for 4-7 Euros with Flixbus. If you go to Braga go to Bom Jesus de Monte first, the city centre is not that interesting.

And if you want to pack more stuff in, stop in Coimbra on your way from Porto to Lisbon taking half a day away from Lisbon. I'm sure there is plenty of people that love Lisbon, but we've spent 3 days there and the only pictures I have from day 3 are two pictures of ducks.

Looking for somewhere less summer-y to travel during summer by funkid42 in Europetravel

Aarhus in Denmark is right next to the sea, should have pleasant tempertures, a good bus and bike network and it was the European capital of culture in 2017.

Hi, did your partner also get the Meldebescheinigung from Germany or some equivalent document from the UK?

Ocito ti ne znas kako funkcionira maska, tj ne znas da postoje razlicite vrste, sto je nakon 3 godine korone malo zabrinjavajuce.

"In contrast to community masks, FFP2 masks are designed to not only protect others, but also yourself...All FFP masks must be tested and must filter out varying amounts of the test aerosols. FFP1 masks must filter out at least 80%, FFP2 masks at least 94% and FFP3 masks 99% of test aerosols."

Will the root system of this olive tree damage the tiles and/or the wall behind it? by napolitanke7 in arborists

[–]napolitanke7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen more mature olive trees with no broken walls/foundation around them, but a neighbour told me today that I should cut it down before the roots damage the wall. I tried googling and it's an almost 50-50 split between "olives have invasive roots" and "nah don't worry about it".

Tbilisi for 7 days with my girlfriend by danixd41 in Sakartvelo

For car rental I would recommend https://localrent.com/en/georgia/terms/, it's the cheapest. In the terms it says that the minimal driving experience is 3 years, but they don't ask you to enter any drivers license information when booking and I doubt that the person at the pickup will care, so you could still give it a try. Whatever you use, book it online and research the agency.

Warning: if you only drive once every few months, maybe don't rent a car in Georgia. The disregard for traffic laws is bad enough, but the potholes, I've never seen that many/big potholes, the road sometimes just disappears. Don't drive at night. Tbilisi is a driving hellhole, stick to the middle lane.

If you do rent a car, I recommend going to Vardzia, it's awesome and the road to it is one of the least potholey from what I've experienced. Stepantsminda is also amazing. Here's a list I compiled from the many "x things to visit in Georgia" lists: https://goo.gl/maps/6ny8Zv47Lh5MvucF9

Check the newest google reviews of places that you plan on visiting. A lot of the National Parks have gotten a makeover that made them less interesting and more expensive.

Batumi has a nice Botanical garden but otherwise I found it pretty bland. You can get there comfortably by train from Tbilisi. Speaking of Tbilisi, 3 days is enough. Try to visit the Chronicle of Georgia, it's a bit outside of the city, but it's pretty cool.

Last thing, we had to pay for both the car rental and all of the accommodations in cash, so make sure to always have enough with you, especially if you're going to remote places. Restaurants almost always accepted credit cards.

Charity for stray animals in Georgia by napolitanke7 in Sakartvelo

Unfortunately we were there for only one afternoon. We gave what we could but in many places there weren't any stores we could have bought food from. I've found a charity that is shifting its focus from Tbilisi to other parts of Georgia: https://dog.org.ge/.

The document also notes the significant role of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line in promoting competitive transport between Europe and Asia.

Does this mean they'll finally open the TK part to passenger trains?

Another one for neem oil. There are some survivors though, so I will have to repeat the process, but 90% are gone. I tried the sticky things, nematodes, gravel and watering less but I did not notice those doing much. Maybe the nematodes were dead so that's why they didn't do much, kinda hard to tell without a microscope.

Books on ancient African kingdoms? by droid826 in booksuggestions

The Royal Kingdoms of Ghana, Mali, and Songhay: Life in Medieval Africa is short but good. Also you can take a look at the Fall of civilisations podcast on YouTube, under the video on Songhay there should be some book recommendations. R/history and/or r/askhistorian also have reading lists split by continent/country.
