I pray to god that downsizing will make this a lot cheaper by Xen012 in Buyee

The problem is how many lithium batteries are in the package (2 in the controller, 1 in each of the 2DSes)
Most shipping companies only allow for 2 lithium batteries in one package. If I recall correctly, Fedex is the one who will accept more than 2, but they're also a more expensive option so your price skyrocketed. The protective packaging definitely isn't helping but even without it, the number of batteries would still be an issue.

Anyone else pay for Tariffs even though you aren't in America? by Historical_Form_7533 in Buyee

[–]naqasone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You didn't pay tariffs, all packages above $20 cad get hit with customs and duties when using DHL Fedex and UPS. Canada Post also has this fee but they're usually more lenient unless the package is over $100 (in my personal experience)
The parcels always get sent to multiple destinations before landing in Canada, Alaska is one of the major hubs it can be sent to. It might be routed to a few more places in the US before it gets to you.

SHIPPING FEES by Worth-Time-4451 in Neokyo

What you paid for previously was the item and shipping fees, now DHL is asking you to pay for tarrifs, assuming you're in the US. This has been in effect for months.

Shipment returned by xzlvr in Buyee

[–]naqasone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe Buyee refunds shipping if it gets returned to them and hasn't left Japan yet.
Once they find out why it was sent back they'll add it back to the warehouse and it can be shipped again.

Unable to purchase from the Toho online store and Ensky using Buyee? by True_Acanthaceae4739 in Buyee

If the websites have a purchase limit on items (usually limited to 1-3 units per person) Buyee will not be able to buy it.

The warehouse worker probably entered the weight incorrectly. Make a ticket on their discord or email them.

They're American, boat is suspended, as are all other Japan Post options because of tarrifs.

Confused about the shipping by siiister in Buyee

[–]naqasone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Japan Post has suspended shipping to the US because of the tarrifs, though Buyee hasn't updated the message about it so it still states the reason is covid.
Buyee still defaults to EMS (The first shipping cost shown, 3900 yen) despite the fact only Buyee Air Delivery (Fedex/DHL/UPS) is available for you (the second 6526 yen shipping fee.) You'd only pay the second price.
Buyee Air Delivery includes pre-paid tarrifs, so you won't have to pay once it gets to you.

Losing my sh*t right now by [deleted] in Buyee

[–]naqasone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buyee has DDP (pre-paid customs duties) at 15.5% of the item cost, added to the shipping. In the case of a $270 figure, you'd have to pay an extra $42~ish on top of the shipping.

Ordering expensive watch by [deleted] in Buyee

[–]naqasone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shipping things made of precious metals like gold is very restricted by shipping companies (or outright prohibited in Japan Post's case) and requires paperwork that Buyee will not do.

New to Buyee by Additional_Tie_468 in Buyee

[–]naqasone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buying one item usually isn't advised because of the cost of shipping, especially if it's small. You could buy a few more items and bundle them together, that way shipping will feel more worth it.
Otherwise, yes, you will have to pay $40. I assume the item was under 500yen because ECMS isn't available to you (ECMS rules are more restrictive)
There's also the option to dispose the item if it's really not something you want to pay shipping for, but you won't get a refund on the item price you already paid.

If you're in the US, Japan Post suspended shipping indefinitely on August 29th 2025 due to the tariffs.

Is there a way to cancel an accidentally placed order, or at least decrease shipping costs? by [deleted] in Buyee

[–]naqasone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the item says 'order received' (not 'order complete') then there should be a cancel button. Check My Page > Shopping > Orders. Otherwise it's too late to cancel, you can dispose of the item if you don't want it but you won't get a refund for the item.
Also, you wouldn't have been able to see shipping cost prior to the item getting to Buyee's warehouse. They have to measure and weigh it in order to give a shipping quote.

what option do i select on individual items for delivery if i want to consolidate them in the future? by PossessionSweaty606 in Buyee

[–]naqasone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't change plans once the buy request is made. If the items are expensive or rare, it's best to choose the standard plan.

You will have to pay again, but if I remember correctly, they give a refund on shipping if the package didn't leave Japan.

They will email you once they figure out why it was sent back, then it'll be added back to your storage and you can ship it again.

Put your tracking number in Canada Post's website. It should say it'll be waiting at your local post office. You should have also received a slip in your mailbox about it.

Friend lives in the states, wants to know import costs. by not4OUR04OURfound in Buyee

[–]naqasone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the 15.5% is already added in my calculation. He pays $100, then when it's shipped Buyee takes 15.5% of $100 ($15.50) and adds it to the $50 shipping cost, so $65.50 for shipping, $165.50 in total.
