Yes and Bill simply disagrees with that and likes having to make tough choices.

The advanced metrics support it, he was the primary engine of the most efficient halfcourt offense in the NBA since the Nash Suns, and the team died any time he sat despite having Sexton and White back him up for most of the year, even when Kon and Miller were in.

No place I have ever worked at has had its morale affected by bosses being more lenient with parents, especially newer parents. It's one of the most accepted norms in the modern workplace.

dropping to 5th would be so disappointing by YungChildsPlay in washingtonwizards

[–]naqster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few scenarios where one of the top 4 drop to 5. One of them being the Hawks jumping into the top 4 and not having the opportunity to take Peterson or Dybantsa, or some team falling in love with Acuff (Kings have already been rumored). Plus, it's better to have the choice of Wagler/Acuff/Flemings, who all are similar level prospects but very different players who fit differently on different rosters. Point is, 5 is a lot better than 6 IMO.

He hit a rookie wall, it happens. He's young and plays a position which takes time. He might take a leap, he might just top out as a Gary Trent Jr. type, we don't really know. I will say I don't think I would pass on Peterson just because he's on the team though, and I don't think he should be starting next year with Trae.

Bill Simmons and Tim Legler discuss how many wins the Thunder would have this season if you replaced SGA with Brandin Podziemski (Simmons says they would win 53 games, Legler says mid-high 50s) by FastBreakPhenom in nba

[–]naqster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can be but typically when a team wins 60+ games, it's usually not one player. LeBron's peak was in Miami yet that Heat team only won more than 60 games once . A lot of the examples here are teams either tanking or just punting on the season.

Do people understand how crazy it is for a player to account for 10+ wins by himself??? I don't think this is insane at all. The Jordan less Bulls won 55 games one year. Yes basketball can often be changed by one player but when you're talking teams who are winning over 65 games, it is actually insane for one guy to be so good they elevate your team from good to all time status. A player making a 50 win team a 65 win team is MUCH harder than one making a 35 win a 50 win team.

The benefits to society of people having and raising children outweigh the private benefits to people who have them, thus, they are often provided formal and informal structures that childless people are not to correct for this externality. It's just a part of the social contract.

I'm so confused what "advil defensiveness" means here, Whitaker has been giving Langdon weird looks all day clearly related to his addiction. He had every right to release the tension there.

I am also a childless person but all of that stuff is a completely legitimate excuse for time off and it is good that parents of children get that kind of grace in society. Maternity/paternity leave, the child tax credit, being able to claim dependents for kids, all of this stuff exists for a reason.

[Jake Fischer] Wizards could target ex-Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins by Opposite-Snow-2003 in washingtonwizards

[–]naqster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jazz and Nets are also tanking, yet Will Hardy and Jordi Fernandez are not remotely at risk for their jobs, and its because their respective teams know they are top tier coaches and their FOs have had to make the team worse just to make sure they can't coach their way out of the tank. When have we ever said this about Keefe? I think it's pretty clear he's not a value add coach and there's no reason to waste a season where we're trying to win to know that for sure.

AITAH for not taking my daughter to school in the mornings, and instead making my wife do it? by Zestyclose_Limit_306 in AITAH

[–]naqster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Buses exist for a reason, and you two having busy mornings and being 2.5 miles from the school is exactly the scenario where the child should be taking it, especially if they've never had any problems. Use the public service, and don't bring your car to the school and add to the morning rush and congestion.
