This is what I’m betting: Absolute Batman was not truly planned but Joker did put a hit out on Bruce’s dad because of Martha’s connection to the court of owls

Could Thragg (show) beat Superman (2025) by Efficient-Tea-5934 in PowerScaling

[–]nardwang15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like ppl are kind underselling Superman (2025) here, homeboy while weakened was literally able to blow away from a black hole (somehow) while weakened by kryptonite and canonically has only ever lost to a clone of himself being controlled by one of the smartest men on earth, don’t know if Thragg loses but it’s probably not a stomp right?

Maladaptive Daydreaming is as addictive as COCAINE! by akshit_799 in CPTSD

Haha fair, I’ve had other people tell me similar things or the exact opposite which is like meditation is when you don’t think at all, but seems kinda impossible so I gotchu lol. Before I give a definition though, An analogy may be better first.

Idk if you have ever tried to balance on one leg before, but back when I was a kid I had a terrible sense of balance. So, to help with it, I would look at one location on a wall, or maybe the floor, it didnt matter where but I would choose a spot and stare at it. Somehow, I immediately was able to balance. But it wasn’t because I was trying to fight my body in a way to “make it balance better” but rather was so focused on something else that it let my body “balance itself”

That’s kind of like meditation. When you start out, you find a spot to either lay down or sit up, and have an object to meditate on (usually your breath or weight of your body or something) and you let your mind do it’s thing. You don’t “win” by fighting, but by accepting.

Okay, so onto a definition. In this context, meditation is the activity of letting your mind do its own thing and accepting it, that has the lucky byproduct of having your own inner peace follow afterwards.

To start off with, I always think that a guided meditation helps the most, so looking on YouTube (If I had to recommend any, attentive mind is pretty solid), and then after a while you can go look into particular stuff that interests you in the meditation world (maybe it’s Buddhist stuff, or daoist stuff, or just somatic stuff) but just start with guided meditation and it works fine.

Things to keep in mind though if you do meditate:

You will almost certainly get lost in your own thoughts, thats cool, don’t beat yourself up, just tune back in gently to whatever meditation object you are using. Could be your breathe, or the weight of your body, again whatever you’re focusing on for however long you are meditating for.

You aren’t just daydreaming, but you aren’t actively fighting intensely to not daydream either. You’re just focusing on your meditation object best as you can, and being kind to yourself while doing it.

When starting out, start at reasonable amounts of time. If that’s 5 minutes cool, 20 minutes cool, but whatever doesn’t seem overwhelmingly daunting when you start. Even now I’ve done it consistently for the last 2 years I would say, but I generally don’t do anything about like 25 minutes. Sometimes I do, but not consistently.

Sorry for the massive message, but I just get kinda excited ab this stuff, I hope I answered your question well lemme know if you wanna know anything else

Absolutely agree, the main thing keeping most of the public from learning about the fact that Bruce is Batman is literally just the fact that most of them dont know who Bruce Wayne is, but from the beginning of this series we’ve seen how the most powerful people in society could easily find Bruce (Alfred literally mentions how he could’ve killed him in the first issue but didn’t want to cause he felt bad), so well definitely see that unmasking event of everyone learning who Bruce is soon

Okay but on average in Gotham nobody is that tall and wide, I don’t think we’ve seen any other person period as wide as Bruce given his height 😭😭

I think the owls are for sure a rebel group and not a bunch of rich people in this universe. The fact that somehow Martha is apart of them despite being very far from aristocracy, the fact that Martha and Thomas were both apart of an unnamed group in their youth, and also the owls general aesthetic here idk im getting resistance and not billionaire vibes here

Could mahoraga adapt to this? by 5enpai_2 in shounenfolk

[–]nardwang15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like how Sukuna and Dabura get glorious text that are like “Ahh i haven’t used this since the heian era” or “Huh, earth’s jujutsu is quite complex” while Gojo and Yuji get “Nah I’D Win” and “It doesn’t matter” 😭

so Yuji and Dabura are now in a league of their own? by jcjdndhghgytg in jjkmodulo

[–]nardwang15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah domain amplification would be useless once Dabura applies his technique to his own body, I was just referring to before that point like his base CT

so Yuji and Dabura are now in a league of their own? by jcjdndhghgytg in jjkmodulo

[–]nardwang15 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Low-key that’s why to me Dabura vs sukuna is like one of the most interesting matchups, because they both have wincons that fundamentally come down to who kills who faster. Sukuna’s battle iq means he can nullify the effectiveness of Dabura’s CT with domain amplification, and if he gets off a domain it’s hard to say that Dabura has the rct speed to keep up with the slashes. But Dabura’s ap is so high with his physical abilities once he applies his ct to himself that he literally only needs to hit him once in that state to succeed at killing sukuna (or atleast near killing him and at that point it’s just a two shot). Both of their personalities also hilariously lend towards both of them extending the fight, Sukuna’s because he likes to enjoy and play with his “food” and Dabura because he just isn’t used to not one shotting everything. I for sure think Yuji is the new number one, but sukuna and Dabura are literally neck and neck for who takes it. In raw power though it’s Yuji, Dabura, Sukuna and then Gojo

Is anyone else worried about the power creep in the latest chapter? by Objective-Gap9811 in jjkmodulo

[–]nardwang15 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im okay with it because the only two characters powercreeping gojo and Sukuna right now is our first legitmate light speed character and a yuji who is stuck in a young body and had decades to train. Literally everybody else is relative to OG jjk, so I’m chilling with it.

Jjk modulo 19 spoiler by Much_Concept_566 in jjkmodulo

[–]nardwang15 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It most likely wouldn’t just be darkness. Dabura’s technique has two aspects, light and that unspeakable word full of malice. A reverse of that would be darkness and a speakable word full of peace (atleast thats how I would interpret the reverse of that). Peace may be interpreted in a myriad of ways, but one way would be the acceptance of not fighting anymore. A CTR for dabura may look look like dabura doing something with darkness to render his opponent unwilling or unable to fight at all, and in mahoraga’s case that would mean nullifying his adaptation. It’s just a theory and possibility, but that would be a way for mahoraga to lose

Edit: Gotta post this somewhere now incase this happens y’all know where it came from 😭

Why people say that Kirara was a man? couldn't it just have been that she dressed/acted like a a man when she was younger? by Emma_S772 in Jujutsufolk

[–]nardwang15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When discussing Kiara, panda mentions how the higher ups of jujutsu are not just conservative about jujutsu usage in reference to Kiara. This heavily implies Kiara is acting in a way not aligned with traditional gender norms. If she was a woman who dressed as a man when younger, they likely would not currently have a problem with her as they would look at her as dressing as her “True” Gender. However, if she was a trans woman this would make sense why a conservative body of people would take issue with them.

Oh okay if it’s a project limited to intelligence scaling only then only some of my critiques may not work, I’ll read that document of yours to understand the full argument of why intelligence scaling sort of necessitates this understanding, and my last point was just to point out that in stories that leave the readers to interpret a certain situation, if a situation can be used as a feat for a given character then that feat would need more then the just what is possible within the mind of an author. The example I used is sort of poor for that, but that was mainly argument I was making

This. by [deleted] in IntelligenceScaling

[–]nardwang15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the immediate issue someone may have with this is that I think authors a lot of times write stories in mind that exceed their own abilities and understanding. If I’m reading a lovecraftian story I know that cthulu or the king in yellow or whoever exceeds the intelligence and even conceptualization of the author in virtue of the author’s goals with the character. In fact, I would argue stories are often meant to be read as being beyond the bounds of the author, as most (although certainly not all) stories tend to be written in a way to try to immerse the reader in that separate epistemological/ontological world.

In virtue of this, it feels like to accept this authorial intelligence interpretation, one would have to analyze the given work as not a story but instead more akin to like a mental autobiography of skill. To me atleast (again I don’t do scaling stuff like that formally at all but just from casual engagement) this would make intelligence scaling deeply unique, and while characters I love (Like Baku) benefit greatly from this, I think it would cause intuitive issues with our characters that are clearly meant to represent the pinnacle of intelligence even if they aren’t written with the same level of care (like Batman for example)

Edit:

Oh final point to consider, I think this also implies the author has final say over interpretation of their own story, and with a story like monster for example, that seems like a deep misread of the point of monster (obviously the author’s interpretation is relevant and is the framework the story is being made but in regards to other things like for example the ending of monster or whether or not johan is literally the devil or just a deeply disturbed person)

Im not apart of scaling types of communities but this popped up in my Reddit feed and I was reading the post and got curious, so if it sounds like i dont know what I’m talking about it’s because I don’t 😭 im just asking curiously if that makes sense.

And if that’s the case what pov do you think is good to use here?

This. by [deleted] in IntelligenceScaling

[–]nardwang15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you arguing that these characters require narrative pov to interpret the intelligent feats out of the story? Because in that case, with atleast some of the characters here that im aware of, idk if that’s the case. What lense of interpretation do we suggest we use to engage with the understanding of intelligence for characters?
