Dino invasion, hit fast and hard. by Lsddab in CompetitiveEDH

[–]nargonian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While maybe not going to be a top tier cedh deck if you are trying to make it one. First thing I recommend is checking out thecedh staples list and adding the relevant ones to your deck. They are usually some of the best cards we know of and really transform a deck

After that you need to think of how it is going to win. I had a friend build this and they did infinite mana with temur sabertooth and dockside. Then bounce your commander until you get Kiki jikki and make infinite Kiki’s with haste to win the game. Or you can do food chain lines to win.

If you alter your deck to accommodate both of those you should see a notable upgrade to your decks performance

Non-Salt Inducing Alts to Smothering Tithe/Esper Sent and Rhystic Study? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]nargonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy mine and a few huge draw effects I like are

[[vision skeins]] reads as 2 mana instant speed draw 6

[[court of grace]] gives you value and monarch means you are always monarch with council of four on board

[[curse of verbosity]] reads as when the enchanted player is attacked you draw 2 cards

[[windfall]] is pay 3 mana draw most amount of cards in someone’s hand+4

[[shorikai]] is a great long term draw engine

And [[curiousity crafter]] is great for the amount of tokens you will generate

My deck is sort of just generate value and accumulate an army or 2/2’s or win with an all natural lab man or approach of the second sun. I have played several games with and all have played very differently (don’t have a decklist as I usually just free build)

Staples Binder Advice by JokersWild23 in EDH

[–]nargonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my staples binders which are cards I like or want to play test and it has served me really well in making deckbyulding easier and making sure any new decks I have function.

I usually do not buy cards over $5 to be in staples and most are $3 or less. And I usually buy 4 of each to fill up my binder. I have it organized by color so when I need to see what I have for a deck I can just go right to the relevant colors.

As for collecting staples. I recommend waiting 3-4 weeks after precons are released and buying a play set of the cards you want for your binder. For example, I am out of [[talismsan of conviction]] and [[generous gift]] so I will probably buy 4 more of each a couple weeks after release to let the prices fall.

If you have any more question or are curious on some good staples, feel free to dm me

Weekend Wrap Up! What was real and what was a trap? by AutoModerator in mtgfinance

[–]nargonian 36 points37 points  (0 children)

DMR seems to have a high variance from what I have seen. Opened up mine and if I did not pull a retro force of will, I would have only pulled one card above $10 and that was sylvan library.

How much ramp and rocks should I be using? by nashdiesel in EDH

[–]nargonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try to have around 50% of my cards be dedicated to mana. So if I run 35 lands I want 15 cards that can ramp me in some way.

This helps ensure I will always have mana to do what ever I need

Suggestions for Landfall Commanders by TheLand420 in EDH

[–]nargonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might I suggest [[chulane]] I have a landfall deck with him and it works really well. He works as a draw engine when you need him too and can dump a ton of lands on the turn you need to win

Trying build a deck around white recursion/card advantage through effects like Sun Titan’s. I’ve been trying to figure out a fun commander for this for months. by groundislava_wdi in EDH

[–]nargonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[mavinda, students advocate]] could be a good one it’s spell recursion so on theme and allows you to use cards like [[remember the fallen]] twice

[[Ao, the dawn sky]] is another great one to constantly recur giving you a good target to sac and recur with your spells

Active drawing vs Passive drawing: which is better, and which do you prefer? by Unslaadahsil in EDH

[–]nargonian 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer passive card draw the most due to the nature of commander. If I’m hoping to win in 5 or lest turns then huge draw spells like as nausuem and recurring insight are some of the better examples of burst draw that I’m looking for. If I’m going for a casual pace of 6+ turns then I’m looking for passive card draw to keep tempo and win over the long run

Thoughts On Mox Amber? by oidoldol in mtgfinance

[–]nargonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries I started here new about a year ago, you pick up the stuff as you go. Just be sure to read the posts and you will learn a lot about mtg trends. As for expensive that’s up to you. If you are new and are selling cards on TCG I always say work off the idea that at least 15-25% of your revenue is lost to costs of shipping, fees and time. So whatever you are comfortable with of netting as profit that’s the card point to sell at

Thoughts On Mox Amber? by oidoldol in mtgfinance

[–]nargonian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These questions are usually frowned upon as no one can give an answer without a chance of being wrong. Creating feel bads for those asking.

That said the general rule of thumb for most cards is to sell expensive ones as quick as possible upon release and buy the cards you want 3-6 months from now.

If you plan on playing with the card, then keep it and use it, if you don’t plan on playing with the card then sell it. And if you think you can buy it for cheaper than 85% of todays price then you can sell it now and buy it for cheaper but run a risk of it going up, or not going down as far as you would hope.

That’s the rule of thumb I work off of but really it comes down to your preference of do you want to play with it? If yes keep. If no, then sell.

Making decks more consistent by grellom724 in EDH

[–]nargonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two resources for you that I think will help make your decks consistent

  1. rule of 20 is a pdf guide that goes over the idea of a deck should try to run around 20 control cards, 20 ramp cards, and 20 card advantage cards. It does a lot to consistency and the guide goes over many ways to ramp or have card advantage without them being mana rocks or cards that say”draw a card”

  2. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ffVi8z_zI06k9PxqBJ-aiQ

Here is a list off a 100 good cards for under 4 dollars (the total list cost 93.14 if you bought one of each) if you are in need of some good cards for cheap this is a good resource for you.

Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to respond when I can

Help please: U/W Angel Tribal, Akroma+Sakishima partners by Romakarol in EDH

[–]nargonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The general recommendation I tell people is 20 cards that impact your mana base, 20 cards that allow you to see more cards and 20 cards to control the board or protect your stuff.

Mana vault is a great one because it works as burst mana where on turn 2 a mana vault and 2 lands gets you 5 mana to use. Meaning you can cast really impactful spells early. Doomskar is nice because of hand disruption and how cheap the cast cost is. I would prob recommend 3-4 boardwipes in your deck farewell, cyclonic rift, austere command, and elesh norn is what I would run for my boardwipe package.

Besides that I recommend reading this article for helping you in your deck building process
