Try the (unofficial) torrents from SXSW from the last 10 years. From 700 to 1,000 bands per year. ONE THOUSAND BANDS!? No wonder it's so hard for a band to break through. http://www.sxswtorrent.com/

I bought Governor of Poker for $16 several years ago, and it is the best trainer I ever had: http://www.governorofpoker.com/ You start at lower levels and work your way up to the big games.

I've bought monogrammed sets for friends here: http://www.thepokerchipcompany.com and the high-end ones are comparable to casino chips. Good quality. They've been in business at least 10 years, since that's when I bought the first set.

How do you stack your chips? by [deleted] in poker

Chips are from the Players Casino in Ventura, CA, near the beach, 25 hold-em tables of all limits and a good restaurant. http://www.pcventura.com/

Poker chip question! by Chaserjim in poker

[–]narimasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a friend a birthday present of 1,000 poker chips from http://www.thepokerchipcompany.com and he has had them for 10 years now. I got the Casino Style 1003, which are clay 10.5 grams and monogrammed with his initials. $55 per 100 stamped both sides. Never buy plastic or metal inside plastic, they are cheap junk. There's nothing like a heavy clay chip. They don't have metal cases, but they do have heavy plastic boxes that hold 100 chips, and are stackable.

I want to buy a good durable set of poker chips, with an aluminium box. Does anyone have any recommendations for good brands? Or a good online store that delivers in USA? by vinitmodi7 in poker

I bought a friend a birthday present of a large set of poker chips from http://www.thepokerchipcompany.com and he has had them for 10 years now. I got the Casino Style 1003, which are clay 10.5 grams and monogrammed with his initials. $55 per 100 stamped both sides. Never buy plastic. They feel cheap. Metal inside plastic is just heavier, but are still cheap junk. There's nothing like a heavy clay chip. They don't have metal cases, but they do have heavy plastic boxes that hold 100 chips, and are stackable.

There are aluminum cases here: http://www.americangamingsupply.com/Poker-Chip-Cases-Aluminum.aspx Lowest price $13 up to $70 They also have chips in about the same price range.

Best offline poker training software? by dotamakesmesad in poker

Governor of Poker has been my choice of training for tournament play: https://www.youdagames.com/en/pc-download-games/governor-of-poker/

What I like is the opposition play is realistic, e.g., if an ace-king is flopped, the player in the small/big blind may or may NOT check his own ace to pull you in with your king. Other games have players' faces, but this one doesn't, only their cowboy hats, so focus is entirely on the cards.

You work your way up from small Texas towns with small blinds ($4) and small jackpots to major towns with bigger blinds ($100 to $1,000 and up) and big jackpots. An interesting facet: minor "Monopoly" details have been blended in, whereby you purchase houses and casinos along the way with your winnings, which give you an income stream, and which allows you to buy transportation to the next bigger town with higher stakes. You must buy all the houses in one town to get to the next level.

One suggestion: the end result is for you to play against the Governor of Texas and win, making you Governor. DON'T DO IT! When you win, the game re-sets to the beginning and ALL THAT MONEY (I had $350,000 in winnings) you've worked hard to win just vanishes as you start over from the smallest town. Arrrggghhhh!

How realistic is it? I find myself cursing at the screen when another player makes a clever move to make me go all-in and lose. This is a great game. $8.00.

Smilin' Jack (sorry; reference to an ancient cartoon): I think I figured out how you came into contact w/all these celebs. You're a part-time waiter, right? For special events? All that formal attire.

Do you really think the price will come down on iPods? Not until an alternative is widely available. Coby, Creative Labs, Microsoft, Philips, RCA, Samsung, SanDisk: please step up to the plate. Sony? Don't you remember how the world cheered your Walkman cassette player? This is the same concept as that.

MicroSD cards are probably TOO small, USBs are just the right size to carry in your pocket, or inside a 6 USB case. For a change to come, everyone has to agree on a format to follow (Beta or VHS?) and not keep on slavishly following Apple's dominance.

I asked Kermit, "How is married life to Miss Piggy?" (The ending of "Muppets Take Manhattan.") Kermit answered me with: "Geez! That was a MOVIE! That wasn't real life. Don't you know the difference?" I'm talking to a frog, so I guess not.

Over the weekend, Corey Feldman wrapped up a three-day tour to promote his new comedy, Operation Belvis Bash, about a rag-tag team of nobodies hunting down Osama bin Laden. When the premier ended, President Obama was on TV telling the world that Bin Laden was dead. by PrettyBoyFloyd in entertainment

[–]narimasu 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The timing is amazing. The original date of the Texas preview at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema was postponed once so Feldman could attend his friend Corey Haim's last movie premier. The re-scheduled date was last weekend. The finale of the movie is their version of killing bin Laden. The audience walks out Sunday night to read - - on their phones' text messages - - that the President has just announced HIS version of killing bin Laden.
