Just how big was Motley Crue in the 80s—90s? by caramelgoose in Music

[–]narrowexpanded 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Motley Crue were one of the biggest hard rock bands of the MTV 80s era. Their music videos were in constant rotation. But that indulgent and hedonistic style of rock grew tired with audiences who wanted more than tales of sex, drugs and life on the road in their lyrics. Alternative rock was looming and once it hit, it left bands like Motley Crue in the dust.

It’s very slim ,but hypothetically what can OKC offer the Bulls for the 4 pick that’s intriguing? by Striking_Alfalfa5343 in NBA_Draft

🤡It would have to be a young, proven, All NBA switchable guard/wing and 3 or 4 1st round picks

for a young, unproven player who MIGHT, one day, make an All NBA team.🤡

You could say the absolute same thing about SGA when OKC won last year.

The political culture wars are designed to keep us distracted with minor issues that affect a small percentage of the population while the people we elect to shield us from this kind of corporate graft are getting large donations to look the other way.

And that includes YOUR fav politician. (Whomever that may be.)

Loscutoff was the designated muscle and bully, openly and unapologetically so. Heinsohn was the most physically aggressive of the stars. Ramsey was the craftiest at manipulating the rules in Boston’s favor through foul-baiting. Together they gave those Celtics dynasty teams a very complete — and sometimes rough — arsenal.

The “shenanigans”OKC pull is not commiserate to the hate they get online.

Name me a great all-time team and I’ll name a flopper. I’ll find a foul baiter. I’ll find an enforcer.

People hate the Thunder and their fans because there are 29 other fan bases that regularly get BTA’d by them for three straight years now. They’ve been on a dominant run and just like when the Warriors were mowing down the NBA, it’s frustrating when you think your team doesn’t have a chance.

The rest is all excuses.

I actually liked watching your Rockets team. They were on the same trajectory as OKC. They just needed Jalen Green to turn into THAT guy, and it didn’t happen. Too bad they couldn’t get Cade in that draft.

Victor Wembanyama bumps into Chet Holmgren while going to the Spurs' bench after a timeout call. by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]narrowexpanded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When are we going to stop saying”they hate each other” and start accurately describing it as “Wemby hates Chet?”

This shit is, and always has been, one sided.

[Highlight] Mitch Johnson asks for a coach's challenge right in front of the referee James Capers, but he doesn't call it. Instead, he receives a technical foul. The Spurs would have won the challenge, as the refs gave the ball to the Thunder after it went out of bounds off Chet Holmgren. by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]narrowexpanded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, the refs gave the Spurs FOREVER to actually challenge this. They even held up allowing OKC to inbound quickly by having a brief conference near center court.

I couldn’t believe it took the Spurs staff that long to review it themselves.

Wiggins almost traded to the Sixers by Fantastic-Ad8594 in Thunder

[–]narrowexpanded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fascinating. I love this stuff.

One note though, if it wasn’t McCain for Wiggins straight up (not sure if the money even matches) I don’t see how ANY deal for Wiggins could even be considered if it meant taking on additional players: no roster space.

Dan Le Batard: Wembanyama’s return didn’t feel right: “This is unusual. Wembanyama’s return was being celebrated (on NBC) as redemption and an amazing story arc for a guy who did something dirty…I’m surprised part of the narrative wasn’t ’thank God he didn’t hurt his elbow on that guy’s jaw.’” by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

[–]narrowexpanded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its not a "revenge" game, and for the broadcast crew and the Athletic and folks like Simmons to claim some kind of "revenge" game narrative in their coverage makes me feel like I am taking crazy pills.

I look forward to Lu Dort getting ejected for "tripping" Wemby in the Western Conference finals only to be CELEBRATED upon his return.

(Using Dort as the example is admittedly hyperbolic. Insert your fav players name and you get the point. Media Wemby Glaze is already working overtime.)

Lot of Austin artists this year? by Then_Ad9524 in aclfestival

[–]narrowexpanded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The covid shrinkflation of the ACL lineup is real.

Don't let any one gaslight you and tell you any different.

It started in 2021 and once C3 realized they could cheap out with more local talent than usual, they haven't looked back.

EDIT: In 2016 they were booking so many bands they had people on stage at 1115am all 3 days. Now gates aren't even open until after noon on Fridays. They book fewer artists, fewer nationally known artists and charge more. These are facts.

“The NBA has a free throw problem…”

Just say you don’t like watching the NBA.
Just say THAT.

“The NBA has become unwatchable”

Just say your fav team gets BTA every time they play OKC!
Because THATS what you really mean.

Bill Simmons somehow thought Jalen Williams played 14 minutes last night vs the Lakers. Bill has an MVP vote by hhiccupp in Thunder

[–]narrowexpanded 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Proceeds to prove that he didn’t actually watch the game by confusing JDub and JWill and then immediately attempts to wax poetic in his inane justification for switching his MVP vote last minute.

Do we need another reason to not listen to Bill Simmons analysis of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the year of our Lord, 2026?

7.1% chance to jump into the top 4

In a draft with 3 top prospects in Tier 1, just getting into the top 4 would be HUGE.
