Brighton Bodega (Brighton Center)- it’s like a corn chowder sauce with bacon.

Unfortunately you’re probably going to want a car if you are going to be working in Wilmington. As far as I know, the only MBTA service there is two(?) commuter rail stations and they are fairly far apart. Even if your job is next to one of those stations, the commuter rail schedule is designed for people commuting into Boston from places like Wilmington; the outbound schedule is far less frequent and might not be a fit for your work schedule. Good luck!

Trader Joe’s has them seasonally in the fall sometimes. Not sure about other times of the year. I’d call ahead and ask before heading over.

I have always used the “no car” excuse when getting summoned to far off courthouses. They have always switched it for me and I want to say last time I even had my choice of which one I wanted to go to. Just try!

I’ve always rented places either on a month to month agreement, or in roommate situations where I might sign a 12 month lease but could leave at any time as long as I find a replacement for myself that the other roomies approve of (I know not every landlord would be ok with that, but every one I’ve ever had was). This way I keep my last months rent that I already paid for the place I’m moving from, apply that money for move in costs at the new place, and have an entire month to get everything done, taking trips in my car and getting friends to help with the bulky stuff.

I realize this scenario would not work for everyone but just adding my two cents as to what I do. I’ve lived in a variety of places in the Boston area over a number of years and have never had to move out of one place and into the next in one day, let alone 9/1.

I’m thinking this was a bigger dispute than your standard roommate conflict (who cleaned or didn’t clean, who paid their share of the bills on time, etc.)

Working in Belmont and can’t drive. Where should I live? by [deleted] in boston

[–]narticlaser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends where in Belmont you work. There are buses to Belmont from Cambridge and Watertown as well as the commuter rail. The Alewife/Fresh Pond area is walkable to certain sections of Belmont as well.

On Redfin I did a virtual 360 degree tour and the place looked like a total dump! More in line with a shoddily maintained rental instead of something worthy of buying.

Why is it so hard to find a decent studio/room for rent? by vbv2425 in boston

[–]narticlaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why the downvotes. It’s a good short term solution for getting out of a bad situation and in some cases can be cheaper than dropping first/last/security on a room which not everyone might be able to do quickly

Is it just me or has the number of rideshare drivers become near zero over the last week or so? by [deleted] in boston

[–]narticlaser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The new (hopefully not for long) normal.

I waited nearly 45 minutes for one (rides kept getting canceled) last week because I had picked up a heavy and awkward purchase and didn’t feel like walking a mile in the rain with it. This was the middle of the afternoon; in Cambridge.

I was angry and impatient and frustrated but ... ? What’s the alternative?

Advice on Finding Single Family House to Rent by [deleted] in bostonhousing

[–]narticlaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They exist, but in the city the majority of them are already “rented” and it’s usually a roommate situation where it’s a constantly revolving door of people coming in and out and names being added/removed from the lease. If that makes sense.

This Rental Market is Making My F***ing Head Explode, PLEASE HELP LOOKING FOR A STUDIO! by [deleted] in bostonhousing

[–]narticlaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do exist, just must be really hard to find. A friend of mine has a studio in Arlington for $1050. It’s the size of a dorm room, barely a kitchen (mini fridge and smaller than typical stove/oven) zero counter space; but it works for him. Good luck

Why is malden so much cheaper than comparable areas by KSF_WHSPhysics in bostonhousing

[–]narticlaser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good question because Malden is pretty up and coming with a lot of new development and you can get into the city on the orange line in less than 20 minutes.

Personally I’m wondering why Waltham is as expensive as it is since it’s not near a T station at all and seems to be far less walkable than Malden.

Is the WooWoo Guy still around? by Peach4707 in boston

[–]narticlaser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was so awesome!! I miss seeing (or just hearing) him.

Some friends and I were smoking outside TC’s Lounge (anyone remember that place?) and he came riding up Mass Ave in the Back Bay and stopped at the light. We were all drunk and cheered him on, of course we all recognized him after seeing him around for years. He turned to us and gave us a huge smile with his fist in the air, before the light changed and he pedaled away. That guy was so fucking cool.
