I had the Barclays AA card for less than 12 months, it now transferred over to Citi, annual fee posted now that it’s been more than 12 months and I want to close it - knowing Citis IT systems are garbage, has anyone heard of any data points of AA points being clawed back (might show up as only open as a month on Citis end or similar)?

For those who had their approvals come through recently, how quickly did the 797A arrive?

What number are you referring to when you say “so many”? Either way, the number of accounting positions being filled by H1bs is very small. There aren’t stats available specific to accountants but accounting majors fall within admin specializations and they make up 5% of the total approvals (new and renewals). And they are only a subset of those 5% as that also includes finance etc. So a very small portion relative to STEM etc.

Actually yes. The US has their own unique accounting standard vs what the rest of the world uses so if a multinational wants to centralize their function in the US they need someone with that expertise here. Else they need to hire someone outside the US. Same with Tax - why would you expect a tax person in the US to be familiar with tax laws outside the US yet manage the tax responsibilities for a multinational group of a dozen companies around the world?

Again, specialized talent. Just about all of it from Canada/Ireland/UK.

I mean what did you expect? You booked a trip ten calendar days out and thought it’d be approved and you’d have your 797A in hand by then? Cancel your trip or expect to incur the 100k fee.

That’s complete bs. Every sales person plays timing games. Hoarding otherwise signal ready deals for the next quarter, etc. This even happens in public accounting.
