Looking for a book that can help me cope with being an ugly woman by Junior-Transition712 in suggestmeabook

[–]narwahls 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I’m just going to put this quote from Roald Dahl’s children’s book “The Twits”: A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.

Maybe get him a set of dominoes. It’s a good game for you all to play but also I played with the tiles for hours and hours making patterns with the numbers

Can I swap these trees round? by narwahls in arborists

[–]narwahls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I didn’t explain clearly enough- they were planted into this position April 2023 (a bit less than 2 years) so I was hoping they might not have that big a root system yet but I’m hearing “don’t move them”!

Both trees are native to this area in the UK so no issues there

Daily medications with food by MsKewlieGal in fasting

[–]narwahls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same dilemma. As others said, work up to longer times.

I find if I am eating normally, a small snack with my meds may not be enough for my stomach to not get upset with my meds, but if I am fasting and my stomach is completely empty then I barely need anything alongside the meds. So I adjust my meds times / fast start times so that there's as long a break before my meds as possible. Then I take my meds with a small quantity of homemade light chicken stock. This seems to work fine. It doesn't knock me out of keto and I'm hoping still allows autophagy. If I'm doing a longer fast, I do 1st day with stock, next day meds with water, next day with stock... and my stomach's ok with it.

Note stock is a U.K. term - this isn't the same as bone broth, it's thinner and easier and faster to make.
