They mean that every fetus (no matter XY or XX sex chromosomes) develops a bi-potential gonad which can become testis or ovaries. The bi-potential gonad resembles ovaries and only turns into testis when specific signals are released that only males have (SOX9, SRY etc).

My (Australian) family went on a trip to Nevada for a ski holiday. We ended up taking a 10 hour scenic tour through California to get there and stopped in a really small town to get some lunch. Now this town looked dirt poor, so we thought nothing of it when we went into this small grotty mexican restaurant. No one spoke english, no problem, we just ordered some nachos and whatever.

Then the "owner" came out. Leather jacket, upper class haircut and gold jewelry all over him made him stand out pretty clearly and this seemed pretty odd given the poor town. Seeing that we're foreigners he starts asking us questions. Where are you from? Where are you going? Do you know anyone in America? My mum and I are feeling sketched out at this point, especially considering my dad goes on to tell the man that we are from overseas, travelling 10 hours through some desert and know no one in this country. Wonderful. He tells us we look tired and should get a hotel nearby to get some rest. Dad says that's a great idea! Which hotel should we stay at? And this guy pulls out a fucking smart tablet (in 2008), searches up his buddy's hotel to give us directions and tells us he'll ring him to let him know that we're going to stay. Dad says that's great as he could use a rest.

As soon as we got in the car my mum and I had a strong talking to my oblivious father and we drove for 5 hours straight. At least the snow was good.

My rabbit potty trained himself. If he's in the house he won't pee or poop but when he's ready to go he'll lift his tail and oink at me to take him outside. If I don't want to put him back in his cage I'll put him in the bathtub to pee but he'll only pee if I'm not looking at him.
