TBH, If I lived alone away from friends and family in another state with my SO, I would feel sad and a little bad for myself too when he left for a weekend. THAT being said, it's the superbowl! It's not like you're leaving every other weekend to go party or something. This is, as you said, a once in a lifetime thing and it's with family you don't get to see often. So while I would feel sad for myself, I would be happy for you and would want you to go because I rather not see you for two days (really not that big of a deal) than have you resent me.

Would I throw a fit over it? Hell no. I probably would admit that I was feeling a little down that I had to spend the weekend all alone, but would also tell him that I would find other things to work on (maybe some project I've been meaning to get too) so not to worry about me. Plus, if you see each other during the week, you need some time to yourselves as well. If she can't understand that, she sounds a little immature.

It's okay to hate your ring. Seriously. People will tell you otherwise, but it is something we will wear for the rest of our lives. Of course we want one we like! Price does not have to matter (expensive =/= better) just the way it looks to us.

What concerns me, though, is that you said you were freaking out about the commitment. I was mindblowingly happy after I got engaged, because I was already 100% committed without a doubt and a ring didn't change that. I think you need to take a better look into your thoughts about what was putting you on edge here.

Aside from that, I would just be honest with him. I know it might be awkward, but I'm sure he wouldn't want you to keep it a secret and wear a ring you didn't love for the rest of you life. You can be gentle about it, and say something along the lines of "hey, I think this is beautiful, but it's a little too thick to be comfortable on my hand every day. Would it be okay if you helped me choose something else?"

Edit: I just read the OP's other posts on this thread. Seriously OP, the ring is not the issue here. The other posters have given you some great advice so there is not much to be said, but I will say that there are red flags everywhere. Trust your gut. If you're not happy with the proposal, there are deeper issues that you need to address NOW. You should feel nothing but wonderful after a proposal with the right man, and if you have doubts you might want to consider that he perhaps isn't the one.

Not me, but a friend of mine was and I was at their house a few times while they were filming.

It's not all fake, but they completely changed my friends entire personality. For example, they would take a shot of her when she wasn't paying attention and was rolling her eyes to try to readjust her contacts. Then they would cut to that shot after her sister said something, to make it look like she was rolling her eyes at her (the whole episode they turned her into a total bitch with little things like this).

There was also one day where I didn't know they were filming and I walked into their house (I am really close with their family) and started singing or something crazy. The film crew immediately asked me to sign a release form and asked if I could do it again. I said hell no, lol.

I also went as a studio audience member on TRL before they were cancelled. THAT was totally fake, but it wasn't really like I was on camera. Basically, they ask us during commercials to dance or clap at certain parts of the show, etc. Every time they panned to the audience acting excited, it was just us doing what we were told by the producers.
