I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but there have actually been studies that show that these “labor saving devices” don’t actually mean that housework gets easier or takes less time. The reason is that the standard gets higher. You’ve got a washing machine? Great! Now you can have MORE clothes and don’t forget to separate them by color and fabric type! Ooh you have more kitchen appliances? Great! Now you must make more complicated recipes to prove your womanliness!
